Yummy! – I almost tried this place for dinner one night, but opted not to after i glanced on the menu which was posted in the window.
Second time around...breakfast. My friend said their breakfasts were much better than their dinners, so I gave it a try. I ordered the chilaquiles, and a side of breakfast potatos and the french toast. I didn't finish it all but I certainly wish I could have!
They took a different spin in the chilaquiles...green sauce instead of red. Different, but tasty. As for the french toast...delicioso! Made with briche bread, and stuffed with cream cheese and topped with stramberry compote!
The decor was cute, a little funky, and the people who attended our table were very friendly and attentive, and the place. I am almost tempted to go back and give their dinner a try!
Mmmm... garlic fries. – Is it the cozy atmosphere that keeps me going back to Q? No. I think the tables are seated too low. Is it the friendly wait staff? No. It's the food. I've tried a variety of items on the menu, and I have yet to be disappointed. The burgers are always a safe bet. The mac and cheese, yum. The specials are always worth trying. The chefs use a lot of creative flavor combinations. I'm a pretty picky eater, but these Calfornia-American dishes are all so tasty, comforting, and affordable. I love the fact that the Vegetarian items are colored in green on the menu. I appreciate the fact that they do carry-out... but if you haven't been, it's a good place to try out if you're looking for a real "San Francisco Experience."
Experience at Q Varies – I keep going back to Q even though the food and service quality varies. I do recommend Q because of its price point and atmosphere, though it's best to stick with your favorite comfort food (think macaroni and cheese or meatloaf) and stay away from any dishes that may need to be a bit more refined. The service can also be disappointing and curt . . . it's a shame too, because the staff should be part of the room's charm)
Go somewhere else! – I've never experienced the most rudest service ever than this place. I would not recommend or refer anyone - but to say go somewhere ..
Yum! A great place for comfort food – Cute atmosphere, tasty food and fantastic sangria. Oh, and excellent service.
What a Steal!!! – The food was delicious and for such a great price! All of the employees were great as well as the atmosphere.
Outstanding find in Richmond District/Presidio – I'm amazed they're not listed on the best winelists in the city - some places are listed as wine bars and don't have 1/50th of the list, let alone the amazing prices. The food is delicious - you'll read some odd reviews of sore ex-employees that couldn't do the job so they write a bad review. it's just wrong - try it you'll like it!! I've been here many times and love the employees and owners! The staff is appropriately friendly w/ excellent food/wine knowledge. They have a wine list w/ over 200 wines all for less than $50. We had the Rubissow Sargent Cab-paid less than retail. My friend had the melt in your mouth ribs, and I had the 1/2 Chicken. The flavors in the chicken and the vegetables we're delightful. This is not fine dining - it's great dining.
"Q" for Questionable – I ordered the salmon burger and garlic fries which sounded great and turned out to be horrible. The salmon was very dry and they over did it on the special sauce. I suspect they did this to make up for the dry salmon. It was totally not worth the $11 dollars. My girlfriend wanted the Mac and Cheese and tater tots but it was $8, come on, thats outrageous, I can buy a multi pack of Mac and Cheese from the grocery store; what next $8 Top Rammen? There are plenty of other great restaurants on Clement St, start with those and end on Q.
Great place for Neighborhood Dining – Q is a great neighborhood joint. I've dined there at least 10 times and have never had a bad experience. They do not accept reservations so if you go at peak times, expect a wait. The restaurant is usually filled with locals. The staff is courteous and expeditious.
No entree is more than $14 or $15 and the wine is reasonable priced (many moderate restaurant try to 'make up' for their meal prices through overpriced wine; this restaurant does not). I've tried all the fish dishes and they are good (considering the price). They have a tendency to oversauce their entrees sometimes, but they are still tasty.
If you are expecting fine cuise, a la Michael Minna or Rubicon, you won't get it at Q, but if you are a nearby resident and want a comfy, funky, non-pretentious place to dine in the 'hood, Q is a hit.
Copasetic at Best – Four of us went at 9 P.M. on a Wednesday. Waited half an hour for a table. The employees were fantastic, and so was the hamburger plus bacon and cheese. The BBQ sauce, as strange as this sounds, seemed dusty, though... and the pork tasted weird, the chicken-fried kobe beef steak tasted like a won ton, and the polenta was cold. The apple crisp was outstanding, but where was the scoop of vanilla ice cream? What's apple crisp without ice cream?!
