small kids vs. the arepa nazi – Our evening began with lectures from the owner/waiter about not touching the aloe plants and my daughter was told to "be still." She's 4! This guy should go back home to work for Hugo Chavez.
The worst part was when we had an accident at the table. The owner literally rolled his eyes, sighed, and tossed a roll of paper towels on the table. Then he stood behind the bar, watching, not lifting a finger while my wife and I were cleaning up the mess on our hands and knees. He seemed to enjoy our humiliation. The mess? My daughter threw up at the end of the meal -- not a good advertisement for the food.
We eat out a lot, often at small ethnic places, and rarely get bad service, but this was the first time we were made to feel unwelcome. We will be exploring the many other South American eateries of Providence, Pawtucket and CF before we ever return to La Arepa.
