The name stands for cocktails, antiques and victuals--a restored knife factory goes globally upscale. – In Short
Sure, the eclectic menu (with specialties like North Atlantic salmon, braised lamb shank and wild mushroom ravioli) will please your taste buds. But the warm, naturally bohemian vibe of this first floor loft space is equally impressive. Located in the city's jewelry district, this converted warehouse exudes a multicultural charm thanks to its visual accoutrements--such as African artworks, an assortment of antiques and richly colored tapestries--most of them for sale.

Good food, but the service.... – A unique restaurant with great drinks, creative food, and wonderful ambience. Too bad the service doesn't match the warmth of the food and decor. From the haughty, arrogant hostess to the inattentive staff, Cav's service is in stark contrast to the rest of the experience. Even with a reservation, it takes forever to get seated. Add to this a bizzare "cover charge" for the misfortune of being seated too close to the often inconsistent music, and the painful picture is complete.

Deliciou$ – Although the food is fabulous and the decorum is fun to browse (everthing but the table settings is for sale) I walked away from my experience here knowing that we had just spent $200 on a meal worth $100.

Yes, it is scrumpious food.

Yes, the ambience is lovely.

Yes, the sorbet is flown in direct from Italy every Tuesday.

But perhaps just a tad OVERpriced even for highend dining.

can't justify the expense – The food was excellent, but the service was not on par with either the quality of the food, or the high prices on the menu. I'm willing to pay for a nice meal, but I get a little annoyed when I have to wait roughly 40 minutes for my $28 filet to arrive. And we were told that there would be live jazz, which we paid a $6 cover charge for, but the "jazz" turned out to be a single ukelele player. I have no problem with the ukelele, but it does not qualify as jazz in my book....

Overall: great food, interesting setting, poor service -- not really worth the price.

talk about a fine dining experience! – Our dinner at CAV was simply a wonderful experience -- the food, decor, atmosphere, and service were all impeccable and impressive. i had the chicken dish (i can't remember what it was called, but it was a chicken breast served over asian dumplings in a ginger pear sauce), and it was absolutely amazing. i don't live anywhere near Providence (i'm in California) but you can bet that any trip i take to the east coast from now on will involve a visit to CAV.
