The most dangerous part about this park is the folks taking the saddle of a rental bicycle for the first time as adults. From the botanical garden to the museum to Outside Lands concert, there's a never ending list of activities to indulge in year round.

Very cool museums, good for relaxing afternoon, clean – A must for any SF visit-in Citypass there is admission for Legion of Honor and de Young museum. Didn't get to visit Legion, but did visit some parts of de Young. Nice touch if you like art. Visit the Japanese Tea Garden for some beautiful pictures and relaxation. Citypass also has 7 day unlimited municipal transportion (Cablecars, Light-Rail and Buses-great value, and boy did we use it!).

Dappled sunlight, archery fields and family-friendly museums--this park is a sprawling urban oasis. – Facts
Stretching across more than 45 city blocks, the park is bordered by Lincoln Avenue to the south, Fulton Avenue to the north, Stanyan Street to the east and the mighty Pacific Ocean to the west. The park is most easily accessed off 19th Avenue. Since parking is often difficult, public transportation is the best way to go.

Features

Go any day, any time, although Sundays are especially nice because cars are not allowed on John F. Kennedy Drive, the park's main thoroughfare. Golden Gate Park offers gardens, lakes, waterfalls, a Victorian conservatory, a bandstand concourse, the Japanese Tea Garden, a polo field, a golf course, massive lawns and athletic fields and a first-rate children's playground.

Better than Central Park? – The best place to go for a good run-- great parking, long trails, beautiful scenery.

A day well spent – The Japanese tea garden, the carousel, the shaded walks, I can't say enough. A great place to draw, paint, relax, picnic, walk, meet up with friends.

A forest with the city... – When you can't afford the time to visit California's state parks, just stop by Golden Gate park! Find a patch of grass off a beaten trail and sit among the trees. Soon you'll forget you're right in the middle of a bustling city!

National Monument – Mention San Francisco and everyone thinks of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a "must do" to walk it and get your picture taken on it. A day with the fog rolling is is even better.

Free is good – Just grab a pair of good walkin' shoes and go.

Golden Gate Park is not the same by car because you will miss all the eccentricities and beautiful grounds if you don't walk through. You can spend a few days wandering around checking out the gardens, the polo field, Lake Stowe, and much more. It's free and free is good.
