Terrible,terrible,terrible- worse decision ever made. The price is too much for living conditions. The units are small cubes with; mold, roaches, bedbugs, bugs, along nasty management. These people will lie to cover their tales and only care about the money. I had to leave one unit due to black mold and me coughing up blood only to go to another that has bedbugs. They lied and said that someone came to inspect the place without informing us and said that we do not have bed bugs. Months later more bedbugs came out. THIS IS THE WORSE PLACE A COLLEGE STUDENT COULD GO, ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE MONEY. ON PAPER AND ONLINE IT LOOKS ALL NICE AND LOVELY BUT IN REALITY RIVERSIDE APARTMENT IS TRASH. They do not fix things, they only paint over and cover up damages to fool you. Please find somewhere else that is worth your time and money. This place does nothing but stress people out.
It's average and cheap. Depends on how you decorate your room . It's a very good location
I wish I could give negative stars. I had a horrible experience with Riverside. Anytime I had a complaint or problem I got the run around. I lived in a 2 bedroom my first year, which was okay, there was an issue with bugs and appliances not working. My second year there I lived in a 4 bedroom. I immediately tried to move out when my roommate threw 4 parties in one week. My other roommate set the apartment on fire twice, and my last roommate constantly broke into my room while I wasn't there. I was told that I could pay $300 to transfer to another apartment...Really? Otherwise I could pay $200 AND find a sub-leaser myself.
Anyways, I filed a report that my lock wasn't working and my roommate and their friends were breaking in to take my things (and I found used condoms on the floor after one incident) and was told that they would be there the next day to fix it. They never came and I constantly reminded them that I needed it fixed.
Another issue was with payment. I would pay my bill on time, yet 3 separate times a cop showed up at my apartment with an eviction notice. I went down to the office to find out what was wrong and each time they said it was their fault because of bad paperwork. If I hadn't had my reciepts of payment with me I'm sure I would have had to pay the rent all over again.
When I turned my key in at the end of the lease I asked to have my room inspected. I was told that they were going to inspect all the rooms at the same time. I had a roommate who was staying to live there the next year. Between the time I turned in my key and they inspected my room, the last roommate had managed to break into my room again and completely trash the whole apartment. Now they are trying to charge me $1,543.
DO NOT USE RIVERSIDE!!!
Do not use Riverside, you will be sorry – The complex has the worst management I have ever seen in a apt complex. She is by far the most incompetent manager I have ever dealt with. She refuses to deal with problems. My daughter has a roommate that was suppose to be compatible with her. They are total opposites. She told management that this girl was breaking 10 of the lease agreements, and was still told she could do nothing. The only thing Riverside is concerned with is $$$$$. You better have your money to them on time. Any problems they want you to address. If you want to move out, they want you to sublease. Everybody at Riverside that has a problem needs to come to this site and give a review. Maybe the owners of Riverside will find some management that really knows how to run an apartment complex, and will not let one person make the other two tenants so unhappy they dont even want to go home. I am done with Riverside! Hopefully this will prevent someone else so much heartache. If you sign with them make sure they know in the lease agreement what YOU expect out of them.
They also definitely have a bug problem.
My childs bathroom shower has so much mold and mildew nothing I have bought will clean it.
The appliances are crappy.
The wifi is crappy as well.
The apt. itself is crappy looking.
The management doesnt want to get off her a$$.
And last but not least, its cheap because you get what you pay for.
Look around and find your child a house and find your own compatible roommate. You will be glad you did.
I am looking and my child will be out before the rent is due again, I dont care what the lease says. They are not keeping up their end of the lease agreement.
I guess we will battle this out in civil court.
Worst Apartment Complex in Columbia, SC – I hate even giving it one star because it is such a terrible place to live. I'm going to write things out into a list because there are so many sh*tty things about this place:
Major bug problem
Not worth the money
my unit smelled like smoke
charge you an outrageous amount for things like, painting, when you leave
Mold in the bathrooms that they wont fix
our smoke detector wasn't hooked up
NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!
Please don't live here, this place will make you sick, and I mean seriously and literally sick.
Riverside... another bad experience – This is from a USC parent perspective. My son, a typical young USC student, visited the Riverside office to ask questions, get advice, and work through potentially signing up for an apartment. Seems harmless, EXCEPT he was told by the person he spoke to that he needed to sign his Rental Agreement to lock in the rate, BUT, he wasn't actually committed until the Guarantor papers were signed.
Well... of course, thing changed and he needed to notify the apartment management that he wouldn't be able to continue with the agreement. All seems good, right? (I mean he was told by someone on the staff that he hadn't committed until he brought back the signed Guarantor form.)
WRONG. Now the story is... we don't know who would have told you that, and we have a signed rental agreement, so, legally you're stuck.
I've even had a conversation with the management, but to no avail... it's the old..."it's just your word against ours, and we have a signed contract."
Technically, and legally, they are correct... but, for those of you who read this, who would want their children staying at a place where the Management and general policy/attitude is to take advantage of young people... especially when they come to them for help and assistance. (Instead of help and assistance, they may get incorrect information and bad advice... which can be quite costly.)
Buyer beware... but you've been warned about how this company operates.
Terrible Living Experience – Please, PLEASE don't waste your money on Riverside. It truly is a terrible place to live. Yes, it's inexpensive, which is great (though prices just went up two months ago for next year and beyond). However, you will not at all get what you're paying for. I've had nothing but problems with this place -- the maintenance staff takes days to fix things that are pertinent, such as a malfunctioning toilet or thermostat. The foundation of the building is in very poor shape, and rather than spend the money to fix it, they've decided to put in HDTVs. The bug problem is outrageous. The pool isn't kept clean, the guest policy is NEVER enforced, and I've had to call the office every single time I've had a package because they take anywhere from 3-10 days to send notification that it's arrived. The tenants are noisy and disrespectful, and management is ineffective in helping. Inside the apartment, the caulking around my sink has come undone, our washer AND dryer have had to be replaced, our thermostat doesn't function properly, and the carpet has had to be steam cleaned after a flood from the apartment upstairs. I know 12+ people that live at Riverside and have had many similar issues. I'm also a fairly easygoing person and am very patient with most issues -- but I'm not ok with paying $400 a month to live in these conditions. Do NOT be fooled by the new advertising or the beautiful apartment shown during tours. Riverside is a TERRIBLE choice.
