Diggnation 5 Year Anniversary – I came here for Diggnation's 5 year anniversary Live show and it was absolutely amazeballs! Well, minus the whole part where we waited in line in the freezing cold next to a girl who was puking her brains out.

The inside is super cool, with two stories, a bar, nice bathrooms, and plenty of room to pack the large crowd into. Since I am an uber lover of this show I was too afraid to relinquish my front row spot to get a drink at the bar, so I was unable to test out the beverages they had. It seemed like mostly bottled beers and small plastic cups of mixed drinks, so I'm sure I didn't miss too much.

I hope to come back to this spot for a good band sometime soon.

Worst birthday ever – Last night, Friday the 16th, I had an altercation with one of your security staff while on the floor of the show. I had been smoking, when an uniformed security guard, without telling me that he was security grabbed my pipe from my hand. I could not tell nor did he informed me that he worked their and seemed very intoxicated My first reaction was upset, not hostile, I asked the reason that he took my pipe he smiled, flipped me off and proceeded to smoke my pipe in front of me. Again he had yet to tell me that he was any form of security, he had no uniform and was smoking my pot. Now I understand that in the night club industries that your expected to up hold to the law, so I asked again for what had been taken but after he told me he was security and that I wasn’t allowed to smoke in the building I continued on with enjoying the show, or so I thought. He stayed behind me with my pipe and begin to pass it to strangers, this was infuriating, so I asked him for my pipe back again, I was upset and I’m sure he could tell, I had in no way been hostile I was trying to talk and he said ”f*** you bitch walk away, your not on my level”, he grabbed my wrist and shirt and attempted to eject me from the building, because I had done nothing, and because he was not wearing any security uniform, many around me thought he was assaulting me and attacked him, although as big as he is he kept them back, but let go of me. At this time I was still trying to get my property back so I wasn’t going anywhere, so when he regained his balance I said lets go then and he pushed and grabbed me and pulled me out side where other sane employees were waiting, his level of physical violence was unnecessary and unjust without cause. Very soon after many many of your security listened to my side of the situation, and im sure realized that he had over step his boundaries and was intoxicated. After a cooling down period your manager Mike came and talk to me, after brief words about the situation he asked me if I would come back into the show, I told him I would think about it but after some air I knew my night had been ruined, my property was gone and I was humiliated, the main reason I came to celebrate my birthday In san Francisco was to see this show, I had spent over 50$ in drinks for me and my friends and was having a great time one of the best shows I have seen, but to be singled out and made fun of by your security left me shocked and angry. I know that I was a catalyst in the situation but my actions in no way make up for the treatment that I was given. Mike was very friendly and had probably dealt with many similar and worst situations, he assured me that he would remember me and would make it up to me at the next show I went to, and he meant it and I find that’s very professional. The thought of coming back is upsetting I don’t think I will. I would like to know that some one is even listening because im not leaving this matter behind me. I lost my personal property and much more that isn’t coming back.

Mainstream Club, Very Cool, and yes, we want the door guys to do their job – I am writing this review because of the negative comments from a few other reviewers. This is a cool and very expansive club that has lots of different events. San Fran is pretty lucky to have a place like this-- many places don't have anything like this--my crew was from ST. Louis and they loved it. We did a bottle service and it was a good time. The fact that the door guys are doing their job and keeping the crowd under control is what we want. Clubs don't need riff-raff. Not sure what these other guys did to get booted. You are at a nice club--act like it.

So, I hope locals and visitors give this place a shot. But be sure to check the web to see what event they are having. You never know what type of event or music may be there.

Great gigs at a bad venue – The best part about the mezzanine is that it has all the bands that you want to hear that aren't playing anywhere else in northern California, and that's it. They sell too many tickets which makes the security eager to put people out on the street. The stage, which is far too small for the size of the venue is smushed into the far corner of the floor and is set too low for anyone farther back than the first 5 rows (or not watching from the distant balcony) to actually see anything. Drinks are expensive for what you get, but the low cost tickets offset that. After all is said, all I really want is a decent view of my band and some elbow room. I would not recommend this venue unless you know your band will not sell the place out or they are not playing any other venues in norCal.

Aggressive Security – I've been going here for years and until last week had a very high opinion of the club. They must have gotten three times as many security guards and they have them patrol the entire club. They shined a flashlight in my eyes three times during the night because my eyes were closed. I've never had this happen before at any club and really hope they change back to leaving people alone.

They also harassed a guy because he fell asleep on the couch. They told him to 'get a hotel, get up and walk around or go home'. This man paid money to be in the club until it closed. There is nothing on the ticket that says you must stay awake.

I'm sad that they've taken a turn for the worse. Maybe they'll come around once they notice a drop in attendance.

a great place that could be even better – The Mezzanine is the kind of club that appears to have it all. Lots of space, the sound is excellent throughout it & plenty of different kind places to rest between its many bars. However, the security often do a terrible job and rather than helping to alleviate problems of people of people overcrowding one part of the club. They often instead simply accost some poor patron

caught in the crush of a crowd! Hsving said that, if the at least part of the security staff was replaced with some actual trained professionals then the Mezzanine would truly be the best place to go to a club in San Francisco.

An NYC vibe with VIP touches permeates this slick, industrial mega-club in SoMa. – The space merges warehouse minimalism with sophisticated technology. Inside, clubgoers find a cavernous main room, an elevated stage that hosts DJs and live bands, and plush mezzanine lounges, including a glassed-in room. Up to a thousand partygoers can fill the space, boogying the night away on the cushioned dance floor, sprawling out on upholstered benches and ottomans in one of the loft-like upstairs lounges and taking drink breaks at one of the five full-service bars. The upstairs VIP lounge features dressing rooms and bottle service for the big-spender crowd, while another sports soundproofed walls and a separate DJ, so revelers can party far from the crowds below. But it's not just all dancing, all the time: The owners have added fashion shows and multimedia art events to the calendar.

beautiful people, so much fun – was at mezzanine last night - the place is full of beautiful men&women. fun scene - not super yuppy, not super grungy. liked it! esp since im used to the yuppy scene. some people were too big headed for their own good, but that is cali, right? you'll have fun. might have trouble getting in.

Hands down..Mezzanine has it all.. – Mezzanine does it all...I have seen art shows, huge live and DJ shows as well as smaller local bands there. It has a cool -warehouse in the south of market- feel complimented by it's industrial look. Their staff is very pro-active and hands on, giving it a family vibe. The first time I was there was a couple of years ago for Squarepusher, which was an awesome show with amazing sound, it was nuts...and the last time I was there was 2 weeks ago for Mos Def, which for those of you who weren't there?? the show was one of the best I've seen, and the security manager remembered me from the Squarepusher show and bought me a drink...family vibe in tact and still full on. I had my drink standing next to Warren Sapp of the Raiders....what more can I say. Mezzanine is like that.

best place for music, friendly staff – Mezzanine is one of my favorite music venues in San Francisco. Whether it?s a punk rock show or a hip-hop show, I can catch a diverse array of performances at the venue. The club?s sleek design, allows for ample room, even at sold-out shows. I like to watch bands from the upstairs mezzanine areas, although those get filled up quickly. I recently went to the Knife?s sold-out show and was impressed with the visual effects. There were two sheer screens in front and behind the band, with a Blue Man Group type thing going on. I thought it was a one-time thing, but a few weeks later I caught Hot Chip there and they had this huge neon lighting thing on stage. Mezzanine keeps impressing me more and more with each concert. And I can?t wait until the next.
