After seeing all the great reviews for this place I decided it would be safe to bring two family heirloom rings here to be re-sized. One, a simple gold wedding band that belonged to my grandmother, the other, a 14K brushed-finish top, engraved signet ring that belonged to my father. The engraving was the letter "C" inside a triangle.
Last week I went to pick up the rings and to my horror found that the brushed finish had been completely buffed off and the triangle-C engraving barely visible. Upon inspection with a loop, the owner agreed it had been polished off and with no apology, said he would send it out to be re-engraved. I reluctantly agreed, having faith (I don't know why) that they would right this wrong.
Today I went to pick up the ring, all the while holding my breath that they were able to replicate the original engraving (never mind the brushed finish), and to my deep relief, found that they had. At which time the owner (Andy?) stated, "This cost me $30 to have hand-engraved. Why don't we split the cost." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? He says no, it's not their fault. They don't give scratched, dirty jewelry back to their customers. If by scratched he means "brushed-finish top" and an engraving, then these people have no business in this business. They completely altered the face of this ring and I am outraged that he would even suggest I pay for its repair.
Do not trust this business with your jewelry. They are blind at best and incompetent and delusional at worst.
Perfect Neighborhood Jewelery Store – Even though I had no idea where my grandmother had purchased her watch, or really what was even wrong with it, they took the time to help my fix it and at a super reasonable price. They were quick and nice and polite each time and never made me wait long. Exactly what you would expect from a neighborhood family run business.
Editorial Review – Old-fashioned, customer service-driven jewelry shop in West Portal offers more than just pretty baubles and Swiss watches.
