I can't believe some if the post on thus company. I have been buying for years but lost the number. . I have only had a complaint on the seafood, but they cane right back out and exchanged it for steak. I find it very reasonable and easier for me to spend 360 every thre months then 200 every week at grocery store. Wish they would deliver more.. milk cheese. Bread frozen veggies to save me some time ay the grocery store.
Bought a box of tenderloins and strip steaks from Bob. Liked that they were individually frozen pieces and they looked good. He said they were grain fed organic beef, so the price of about $10/pound was more than fair. Cooked one of each last night and they are sub standard beef. Not worth $6/pound. Poor taste, poor quality. Called the company to give them a chance to recover and to make sure Bob actually worked for them but no answer and mail box is full. I went into this deal figuring I had a 50/50 chance of getting beat. I lost. Don't buy from them.
Good Service – I just started with East Bay, a slight mix up with my order but I called the salesman, John Bailey, he returned my call, came back when he said he would and made things right. John is very polite, and will do everything that he can do to help, I'm impressed....he's a guy doing his job! I live in the Hollywood-Edisto Beach area. Thanks, John
Think twice – Do not ever buy from this company. I was sold a package of chicken and beef from a door to door driver who was 'trying to get rid of his excess'. He said it was a good deal at $280 because it made each portion only 1.42 each. He kept saying I couldn't even buy a whopper for that.
I decided to go ahead and give them a try. I tried to write the check to East Bay for $280 but he told me there was tax. I had to rewrite the check, made out to him, and didn't pay much attention to the fact that I just wrote a check with $50 in tax! I didn't even pay attention until the next day when I started to actually look at the boxes I had been given. When I added everything up it was NOT 1.42 per portion. If they think ONE chicken nugget is a portion they are nuts. And the tax was exhorbitant. I don't know where they get that percentage! I immediately called the company and spoke to Elizebeth. I told her I was unhappy with what I had been told and what I actually paid for and felt very suckered into this purchase. She told me that I could get an additional box of steaks. I told her I wouldn't like that that I just wanted my money back and they could come get the food. She said they would do that for me and would do whatever it took to make me happy. She said she would call Katherine (an assistant in my area) and have them get out to me and pick up the food and refund me.
Fast forward to calling over 25 times (with almost 20 of the calls going right to voicemail), speaking to Katherine (assistant manager) and Jason (manager in Wilmington) and several times with Elizebeth...3 weeks later and the food is still here and no refund. Just got off the phone with Jason where he accused me of not being able to do math (to figure out the tax), complained that my husband changed his mind), never even told him I was married) and he said the manager I was supposedly talking to at the corporate office (Elizebeth) was just a secretary and couldn't do anything for me anyway so I was wasting my time talking to her.
I told him the law in NC, that I called within the 3 day grace period for my purchase, that I was overcharged tax and was lied to about the cost per portion and that that constituted fraud. I told him I just wanted my money back and they could have all of the food. We've never touched it. He pretty much told me to suck it up....that the next time I should do better math when they come by.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Elizebeth. She has been very helpful. She doesn't write the checks so she can't refund me but she does way more than just secretarial work. I have talked to her at 9 in the morning and at 9 at night. She keeps saying she will get this taken care of. I am praying she's right. I'm a mom of a very special needs kid and I don't have the time for this.
I am still working on trying to get my money back. I hope this can be resolved easily without me having to go to the police and file a report for fraud and a stop payment on the check.
Buyer beware: check your food amounts versus the cost, check your tax, and think twice before buying.
False Advertising - using people – This company has an ad in the paper advertising for help - the ad reads "If you like fast cars and loud music - you can make $600 wk", well lets see - who is that going to attract, of course the young adults. Then you tell them they will have a truck - door to door salesman, that's what it is and that's what it should read! You make them put gas in "your" trucks and if they can't sell anything - too bad - you just worked for free! ***SCAM*** I will never buy anything from this company! Honesty goes a lot further than this scam you are trying to pull. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I find you totally pathetic!
best food anywhere ur dumb not to buy – the food is great, i got a great deal i paid $389.40 and got 68 cuts of beef and 72 servings of chicken the food lasted about 3 1/2 months and i want to get more it was the most tender meat ive ever had my favorite is the kansas city strip, i save so much money using east bay gourmet.i dont know what id do without them here for us trust me get the meat its great and you wont be mad!

The company is a scam – Please do not purchase from this “company. I had a guy called Jeff that sold me the meat. My husband and I wanted to purchase grass fed meat and we were told by Jeff that it was. He guaranteed us that the company was legitimate but after we spent $400 on meat, we found out it is not. It was mainly our fault for not doing the research before we spent on that money. We called the headquarters and they basically hand up the phone on us! They were extremely rude and unprofessional. We called Jeff and the manager from the retail branch many times to express our disappointment, yet they never helped us. We then found out that is not grass fed and we wasted so much money on meat that we never will eat. We also found that the their meat was recall some years ago (go to USDA site). We ended up giving it to the Salvation Army. Please save your money and buy meat from a more reliable source
