Dear St. John’s Water Company Inc.,
A few things… Can you please ensure that I receive the first bill at my address: 1749 Towne Street, before receiving the past due bill? If my past due amount was due by 2/15/14 (a SATURDAY), how am I to pay it if you are not open? You were also not open the following Monday for a holiday. I work from 7:30- 4:30/5:00pm everyday as a middle school teacher. Due to holidays and weather, I was working very hard every minute of my day of return on Tuesday the 18th and came home to find my water shut off. I have two small children and no water. You offer no way for families to get the water shut back on in emergencies such as this. The bill also has an amount due on 2/26/14 of $62.16, which leads your customers to believe that they still have time to pay before being shut off because it does not include the reconnection and non-payment fees. You also do not offer an email address or website or any electronic means of payment for customers who are working during and beyond your business hours. If nothing else, it is just WRONG to not offer people who are financially able to pay, the right to turn their water back on after business hours. I will be sending this letter to the email address I was given by your very rude after hours (male) emergency employee after some debate. I will also be sending a copy to the corporate offices and owners. I would also like to find out how to enroll in automatic payments, because there is no option of this on the bill, but I have heard that you can do this…you all must very proud to work for such a well-run business.

HighWay Robbery – This water company buys the wholeslae water from Charleston Water Systems. Charleston WS charges a $30 origination fee. St.John's Water turns around and charges $100 originations fee not to mention the extra cost in providing water.
The customer service manager at Charleston Water System asked what St. Johns Water charged and I told her $100. She flipped. This is a great example of how Monoploy screws the public.
Fraudulent Company with terrible customer service – My average water bill is usually between $17-$40. This utility company billed me for $97 in one month! It just so happens this was the same full month of billing after they replaced the water meter. When I immediately complained that the meter was obviously malfunctioning, they sent a rep to fix it. The following month my bill was normal BUT St. Johns Water Co refused to refund the ridiculously high bill I was forced to pay. Moreover, their terrible customer service rep FORCED me to wait an entire year before they said they could investigate. Now that I've waited an entire year and proved that my water usage is very low, they STILL REFUSE to refund my money for their bad equipment. It's a shame this is a monopoly on Johns Island. It's appauling!
