Deep Pockets Sushi. Went here with my friend last night, deeply disappointed. I heard it was good from a co-worker and had high hopes especially after seeing the prices on the menu. The nigiri was so small, I put the two pieces end to end and it still wasn't as big as one piece at my favorite spot. Quality of fish is mediocre, nothing to write home about. I really don't know where they get off charging those prices. The people that rave about this place need to get out more.

Disappointed. I read the reviews from citysearch and was really excited to try it out. A bunch of friends and i happend to come across it one night and thought why not? I have to say it was very average for the price and the amount of food we had. We all came home after spending $40 each and we were still hungry. The service was scatty as well. It wasn't the worst sushi I have had but if someone asked for a recommendation this would not come to mind.

Off the Hook!. Once again this place is off the hook! This time I tried some new rolls. One I really like and have to try the G roll. Very tasty! I also like the Pink Lotus drink! Yummm! Also they have a bar/lounge area in the back where you can kick back.. Really nice! I have to say that it does get packed. So RSVP is a must!

Great food, but service is lacking .... I went to Deep on last Sat. While we did not have reservations, we were hoping that it may not be that crowded. Well, it was, but that was ok. What was really annoying is that we waited for 15 minutes in front of the restaurant by the door and no one came to greet us. I finally went up to the waitress that we had been waiting and asked her how long the wait was. She gave me a "deer in headlights" look and stated that it was probably around 1 hour and that people were waiting in the back for their reservation. My recommendation is that Deep get it together and get a good hostess. I hesitate to ever go back on a Sat even with a reservation - they seemed not to be able the crowd effectively.

how deep is your love...for sushi. although this restaurant is deep in noe valley. it is worth the ride from Soma (where i live) to have my monthly fix of people, fish, and scene. more than hip enough to feel like a complete friday night, yet small enough to feel like i was in the middle of some best kept secret. yes it can get crowded at times, that just justifies the demand of such a good eating experience from deep sushi. the only challenge - trying to catch both of the cute owners' at the same time, experimenting what cocktails to serve in their soon to open new bar in the back. kampai

don't let the trendy atmosphere fool you. I had heard great things about this restaurant. Loving sushi we headed over there. We ordered a large order and only after an hour did we see the first two very good but tiny pieces of sushi. We then waited another half hour and saw nothing and decided it was time to leave. I have lived in SF my whole life and have never encountered such poor service. They did not care that two new customers were treated so badly.

I'd prefer deli sushi--I get what I pay for. The sushi is over-priced (especially the rolls). Taste and presentation--they're just average when you ignore the sticker shock. Our other starters were just disappointing (considering some of these reviews), except for the tempura...which was god-awful! It was worse than mall food-court tempura: soggy, droopy, cold.

Luckily we got there before the dinner rush so we had no wait for my reservation, however, we did wait a lot for our sake, our water refills, our soups. I don't blame the one waitress--that's quite a crowd for one person to handle--but the management for not having enough staff onsite.

I'm so embarrassed for dragging my friend and husband there after raving about it since my last visit a couple years ago.

Dang...what a waste of stomach space.

THE BEST SUSHI EVER!! WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!. The sushi here is DELICIOUS! I drive from the east bay a few times a month just to come here, and believe me- ITS WORTH THE DRIVE AND THE WAIT! The fish they use is so fresh and the rolls are awesome!! Ive been to many top notch sushi restaurants and Ive never tasted anything like what they serve at Deep Sushi- anywhere! Besides the awesome food, the interior of the place is amazingly hip and they always play awesome music which draws an attractive crowd inside! The staff and service is always great! I even heard from a staff member that they are opening up a bar in the back sometime very soon. I cant wait! I love this place- it really is the BEST SUSHI!

Never going back. There were 4 people in the restaurant and the waitress sat my 6'5" husband and I next to the 4 people. I asked to be seated at any one of the other available tables so as not to crowd the 4 existing diners and she was clearly annoyed. The entire time we were there tables were available and the sushi bar was empty. Unfortunately, we were there for close to 2 hours and not because we were enjoying the rude service...the sushi took forever. The sushi is decent yet the portions are small. I have been there several times and on all occasions the service has been extremely slow and unfriendly. Fortunately, there are a number of great sushi spots with friendlier service and appropriately priced portions.

Deep Sushi Rocks!. I like my fish fresh, and many sushi spots in the city dissapoint. Not Deep Sushi, the salmon, hamachi, and toro melted in my mouth, although it's not cheap, you know your paying for top notch fish. The rolls are not at all traditional, so you have to be in the mood for something new, like the waitress searing the 'UFO' roll with a torch at your table! The spot is really a hole in the wall, no sign outside or anything, but it's obvious that word of mouth has spread, because it was packed.
