The Scene
All the trappings of a hipster dance lounge are here--dark blue- and red-velvet curtains, funky couches and a disco ball. Two full bars with a back-lit aquarium sit in the main room. The hardwood dance floor is flanked by several high-backed booths and a stage with DJ equipment. Through arched passages near the front lies another bar and plush cocktail lounge where worn-out dancers sip drinks and exchange phone numbers.
The Draw
This is the quintessential Broadway pickup joint. On a crowded weekend night, it can take on the feel of a spring-break party with young hotties from all over the Bay Area coming in to try their luck. Live music (mainly '70s and '80s cover bands) is occasionally featured, but DJs spinning funk, hip-hop and classic soul are the main attraction.

This place is pretty spacious, with a total of three working bars. The bartender was super friendly and so was the security and staff. I liked that there were two rooms with different music so you could constantly move back and forth. I went expecting there to be a lot of people but the larger room was actually pretty empty with mostly girls dancing and guys looking on as usual.
Pros: Free before 11

One of the few clubs I've been to where security is sincere to get us in but they do their job. (Stu) is cool dude for a security dweb. Music was cool and drinks were priced average so I wasn't feeling ripped off (like at the place next door Zebra)
Pros: Easy entry - no hassle from security, cops or crowds
Cons: No parking
