My husband and travel here every year from New York, we purchased a used car prior to our trip this year, and lost the transmission on the way here. After returning to NY to get it repaired, we still had a car with a problem transmission. A & A fixed the problem, stayed within the estimate that we were quoted. The gentleman that handled all of the details was very straight forward and honest. It is nice to know that there are still honest repair shops, that do not try to rip you off. Thanks A & A.
I used this shop a few months ago and was very pleased with the experience. I was referred to it from a friend that also had a good experience. I have lived in the area for many years and have not always had good luck with repair shops. My regular shop that I use can't do transmissions, so they also recommended A & A Transmissions. They got me in quickly, rebuilt my transmission( had no reverse) and the final price was close to the initial estimate. They did tell me going in it was only an estimate but they kept me advised on anything additional that was needed. The warranty was great and my truck is working great!! I highly recommend this business!!!
I feel sorry for out of town people who don't know any better and go to this shop. They cost me $2,800 and gave me a bad transmission. I should have sued but it would have cost too much. Later I learned from locals that this is the place NOT to go to.
Not a good experience, underquoted and broke door!!! – I am a tourist to Myrtle Beach from Indiana, I drove my 2001 Chrysler Town & Country mini van down. About 5 miles from our resort the transmission went out on me.
I went with A&A Transmission because I was qouted a price of $1300 to rebuild the tranny. The people were friendly and the turnaround time on the tranny was good.
That however is where the good experience ends. After getting the call that the van was fixed I went into the shop to pick it up and was told that the bill came out to $1989. That is almost $700 more than I was quoted!!!
So I paid the money and went to open the hatch to put some stuff in there and the back hatch didn't work. I informed them that the door that worked previously doesn't work now. They told me that it worked for them as they had it opened in the shop. So the good turnaround time wasn't so good when I had to leave the van in the shop for yet another night (costing me another night of rental car fees.) The next day they call me and tell me they can fix the door that they broke for $330!!!!!!!
I could not aford the money to fix the door because the tranny already cost me way more than I was quoted. So now I'm out an extra $700 and have a broken door!! Talk about taking advantage of out of towners.
