chillest spot, BEST burgers fries drinks – I don’t see how this place can receive much of a profit when you balance out the great quality with the low dippin prices. THINGS HAVE CHANGED, for the better. I love the casual vibe, nice tunes especially at night, when the freaks come out :). Not many old school places around in L.A. that have great food, this is one of them. Much cleaner than it was a while ago, but still has a comfy ageless cali gold rush feel to it. The menu is getting GREENER, with burgers in the bowl, salads (better than my lovely creations at whole foods salad bar...and hella cheaper)...what else...Oo some of the best sweet potato fries in LA, pair that with the juiciest burger (fresh quality meat too I've noticed that change) and who isn’t sold? Happy hour is a must and so are the bite your tongue nachos! Vale, I’m through venting on my lovely experiences here…

Great Beer and Food – I love to go here to watch a game or just to enjoy the great beer on tap and some fantastic food. Try their sweet potato fries!

AMAZING PLACE!!! – Best 49er bar in town, amazing food, friendly bartenders, and great beers. It feels like I'm at the game. Its going to be my new Sunday football place to catch the game.!!!

Great food, great service, avoid Friday lunches – I love the SF Saloon. The food is great, and definately the burgers are on my favorite list. My favorite salad is the Oriental Chx. Service is good depending on when you go. As a former server, I can tell that the restaurant is understaffed for busy occasions, and the kitchen is too small to handle large crowds. If you go anytime except Friday lunches or a crazy sports game, your servers will be friendly and attentive. Otherwise, the poor girls are frantically running around like crazy taking orders, serving drinks and busing tables.

Great Sandwiches!!! – I'm not sure I want to boast about this place, because it gets pretty crowded already. But the place does serve really great burgers and sandwiches. And the service is exemplary, too. But it does take a while for the food to come out of the kitchen on a busy day.

Go on an afternoon when there's no big game drawing a big crowd, and enjoy!

Best Burger-Worst Service – If you have nowhere to be and want to indulge in a great burger this is the place. The service gets worse every time we go (which is weekly) but the food is always great.

Good Sports Bar – Lots of seating and lots of tv's. Food is pretty decent and the drinks aren't overpriced. The parking is easy and it's a bar full of different types of people. I think it's one of the better bars on the Pico "slide". Go and eat!

Omitted Details from previous review – This is one of the insufferable bartenders from the San Francisco Saloon here.. thanks to the poster below for defending the place against the bitter and vitriolic review that came before. In case anyone has bothered to read that guy's review, I figured I had better fill in some details that he omitted.

The idiot that wrote that stupid post was kicked out of the bar that night, by me. Why? He said something to a waitress as she was standing next to him. A few moments before that, she had been in conversation with two of our regulars, who happen to be black. She said "excuse me?" to the guy, since she had not heard what he had said to her. He replied "maybe if I were BLACK you'd talk to me." When she said "pardon me?" he said "maybe if I were BLACK you'd be impressed." The waitress told him that he was being rude and offensive, and not to talk to her anymore. She then told me what happened, and I started to keep an eye on him. The next time she went near him, I saw him say something to her, and I could tell by her expression that she was quite irritated and did not want to hear any more from this guy, who at this point was antagonizing and annoying her for his own pleasure. At that point, I went over, dumped his drink, gave him his check, and told him to leave.

Funny how those details escape his post, which he had the nerve to print and send to the owner. Of course the owner never got it, but all the employees had a great laugh over it.

Anyone that has been to the San Francisco Saloon knows that the food is great (almost always), the beer is cold and the drinks are strong. Yeah, sometimes the service is a little slow, sometimes you might get your food after someone who ordered 10 minutes after you, but one thing we are not is unfriendly. Quite the opposite.

Anyway, ignore the posts of bitter dickheads who get 86'd from good places and come in.

hmhmhmhm – Ha! I happen to be a rather frequent customer at the SF Saloon and think that the ranting post previous to mine deserves a response. This bar is one of the best of it's kind... great food, relaxed atmosphere..and the best part?! No BS!!! I'm glad that someone begrudgingly calls the staff "not-nice people" and a "revolving door of jerks." In LA what kind of place would this bar be if that let any thin-skinned a-hole that obviously got called on his own BS (probably at the expense of his precious pride) sit cmfortably and want to come back? Not the one it is. I love the Saloon and love the staff and wouldn't have it any other way! A little advice to the previous poster: Your post didn't do any damage to the Saloon. It's demographic isn't exactly the citysearch type and if the bar saw your post they'd probably post it on a plaque behind the bar. I'm pretty sure the most pertinent of your accomplishments is just riling me up for the day.

Bartenders are jerks – Food is great; but it is no longer the Grateful Dead bar it once was. The bartenders once were wonderful; Michael comes to mind. Now it is served by a revolving door of jerks, with piped-in bla music. The food is good, if you can get in and out unhurt. It is not a nice place. The bartenders and waitresses are not nice people. Maybe the owner should have a meal there. As it is he just hovers.
