Nicest Work, Friendly Service, Clean Shop – This is not your typical tattoo shop. All 3 artists (Jason, Kevin, and Nick) do top notch work, are courteous and respectful, and the shop is clean. I would recommend Godspeed to anyone who is looking to get a tattoo. I have work from all 3 artists and I love my tattoos. The shop is very well decorated with artwork and lots of interesting things everywhere. Go to Godspeed!!

Great shop! – Kevin is great! I got to him after I had an appointment at some shop in san bruno who flaked after looking forward to it for 2 weeks. I looked in the yellow pages that night and called and he told me to come on in. Great guy, no vibe at all and great work! I've got alot of tatts and besides Carl Haynes who moved away, Kevin is now my artist. All you gotta do is go in his shop and find out 4 yourself.GODSPEED!

Word of mouth – 1st of i have not gotten a tattoo there because ...my best friend and my cousin both got tattoos there and they both stated that godspeed did mediocre work. They didnt strive to be the best and they did quick work, They did'nt go above and beyond to stamp there work on both there tattoos. I mean come on your a walking billboard for them and if u don't do the best job then your not the best place. Thats why i feel for the past reviews and thats why im writing a review now. Jason you must be lame for not taking the time to really help and show your artistic skills on the picture plus oh well who cares who he/she was with because thats a part of working for a business deal with it. and about my best friend she got a tattoo there and she is not thrilled about it and you helped her. i only heard good things about kevin and you should'nt be coming on here and bashing him about his spelling it just shows how unprofessinal you really are. good luck advancing!!

In defence of... – In reading the comments below i defend him...because it seems the tattoo artist did not help him after the fact he showcased he did not care for the design. so in all honesty he could have just simply refused to do the tattoo and not be an a**hole about it or redrew it and be more creative and touched up the drawing. but it seems he did not care about it. so in my mind he does not care about his job and the growth of himself and the challenge to advance and turn a simple tattoo into an excellente peice of art.

Are You Kidding Me? Jason Is Amazing! – First of all, Jason is an amazing artist, and person. Secondly, anyone who knows ANYTHING about tattoo artists can tell you that if they believe something is not going to look good, it's just NOT... if they end up disagreeing with a design that you keep insisting on, odds are that they will just opt not do the tattoo. Why would he want to produce a PERMANENT piece of artwork on you, when he knew that it was just going to turn out badly? Tattoo artists have the freedom to make that choice. You should've trusted in that mentality, and appreciated it, because the world is full of people who willingly pass off subpar work without any integrity period. Did you seriously even think to yourself for even a second, that maybe he just might know what he was talking about? Tattoo artists are masters of their craft. It is what they do. If you can't accept that, you obviously aren't ready for a tattoo.

Godspeed Tattoo – This is a response prompted by mikem82's amazingly negative review below.

Blaming a tattoo artist for not giving you a crappy tattoo [he neglects to mention that he came in with a design suggestion that in the artist's opinion was bad] is akin to blaming a surgeon for not giving you an unneeded operation. Everyone has a right to pick the tattoo they feel comfortable with, and if the design isn't good you also have a right to walk.

Conversely, a tattoo artist also has a right to tell you that your design idea isn't good--it's his professional opinion as a specialist. From the account I read of the incident, the artist you refer to attempted to take a bad design idea and polish it up so that it looked good and then had to suffer through your cousin's critical opinion about how the tattoo should be accomplished, placed, etc. -- all while you hemmed and hawed for an hour while other paying customers waited patiently to get tattoos in the shop.

For what it's worth, almost every one of my friends (and I) have gotten tattoos at this shop and we are all overwhelmingly satisfied. All of the guys who work there are good, professional, artists-- but don't try to treat them like Burger King employees (no offense to fast food people)-- they aren't low-wage functionaries you can demand to "have it your way" with-- these are skilled tradespeople practicing a craft that's a mixture between art, trade, and medical procedure. Your failure to respect the artists, to have a well-articulated design from the beginning, or to speak for yourself in the matter created a nearly impossible situation for a worker and an artist to perform under.

Godspeed is a good shop. Give them a chance, show them equal respect, and let them do their jobs. If they don't like your design for a tattoo and try to help you--either appreciate their honesty and skill and accept the new design or go elsewhere where people with less ethics and less pride as artists will do it for you just for the money.

In regards to Mr. Mike82's review of Godspeed... – I have a few things to say in response to Mr. Mikem82's bad review of Godspeed Tattoo.

First off, I know all of the artists at Godspeed. Not only are they very sincere and willing artists, but they are incredibly talented and understanding people inside and outside of work. I have known them for quite a few years now, during which time I have seen their work only get better and better (if that's even possible).

Seeing as how the majority of each of their bodies is covered in tattoos, I think that the artists at Godspeed can empathize with a customer's concerns about having something permanently etched into his/her body.

Mr. Mikem82, did you come prepared with a picture of what you wanted? Were you clear in your description of how you wanted the artist to draw it out? Tattoo artists may draw out pictures for a living, but they certainly cannot read your mind. They are not superhuman. Therefore, if you are not clear about exactly what you want, you probably won't get it because each person on the face of this planet sees and understands colors, images, art, shapes, etc. in a different way.

Moreover, you need to understand that every tattoo an artist does is a representation of their talent and abilities. In a way, it is like a permanent advertisement. As someone who has my fair share of body modifications, I can tell you that this type of business is all about word of mouth. If an artist doesn't think a particular picture will look good as a tattoo, it is most likely that s/he won't agree to do it because his/her name will be on that person's tattoo forever. See? The permanence of a tattoo goes both ways.

Whether "JASON" was at work or not, he has the right as a human being to stand up for himself if someone is being thoughtless or disrespectful.

Godspeed rules.

F.T.W. – Everyone defending a guy who wasnt ready for a tattoo is a fagg*t. If people got sh*t to say to Jason, you should go tell him in person. Im sure he'd be more than happy to collapse your larynx.

Dont ever go!!! – Seriously if your thinking about this place dont ever go!

Honestly me & my cousin went in there with my idea and everything seems to be fine cus JASON suggested things and so did i. Than we came back to see the drawing and it was okay but i didnt like the banner and me and my cousin said well we don't like the banner too much and we would like the last name to be more of a center point than the banner. and i would assume JASON (that tattoo worker) would be okay well this is why it wouldnt work or why this would work. Or maybe u would of thought he would of asked us if we wanted him to draw another one after hearing are comments. so we can compare and see which drawling would be better. Cuz were not tattoo artist so we wanna see what looks better cuz its gonna be perminant on my body so i want it 2 look good. Well than JASON says to my cousin, "Well why don't you tattoo him than" and we were like wtf. and i said to him we just wanna know whats gonna look better on me. and i said plus i dont like the look on the banner on it, it looks like somethang out of the 80s. and he grabbed him drawling and tore it up and said to get the f*ck out. ISN'T THIS A PLACE A BUSINESS. anyways thats the jist of it. bottom line dont go there. Its your body you should love what u want on it,

I recently had some work done by the owner, Kevin Marr. Great work (most of it was free hand) and nice guy. He has also done some work for a few other people I know. This guy can go from gray scale monster tattoos to colorful Chinese traditional inspired tattoos without missing a beat.
