Watering Hole turned Smoke-Free – Our group was looking for someplace "Irish" for lunch one day this week and I checked it out. I met seven of my friends at the downstairs dining room of the Pig. I have to say that I'd been warned it used to be loud and smelly at times because of the smoking so I went ahead of time to look and smell making sure it would be OK for a bunch of ladies. To their credit, they have made it a non-smoking establishment. I was told that there were two dining rooms upstairs which might suit us but a quick sniff told me that the bar and billiard room would likely never smell like it is smoke free. Besides, when with a group, I would not like to be seated at a bunch of high tops with high stools just large enough for 2 each. If you play billiards and don't mind the small tall tables and smoke smell, you might like it, but I would not call that family dining. On another note, there are a lot of televisions running from every wall non-stop. Again, if you don't mind that, go for it.

It was a beautiful warm day and I noted that several people were having lunch outdoors at little patio tables. That is another option in good weather. For our group, though, the dining room down served very well. There are televisions, background music and a bar in the corner. At night I am told that there is live music. It might be a lot of fun. It isn't very large, so take that into account when making plans. They have some booths along the wall and regular height pub tables in the center which can be extended and pushed together if necessary.

Our server was just excellent. She gave us plenty of time and attention and was patient with first-timers. We started off with potato skins and drinks. Woah! so good!

One person ordered a plate of those for her meal they were so delicious. Next to me, my friend had the shepherd's pie which I tasted and it was so good I wished I had ordered it too. My fish and chips were quite good; I especially like their steak fries as chips.

The fried bologna sandwich is a strange menu item.

Sounds like a throw back to my southern past and it is... plus more because we never fried the sandwich, just the bologna-they fry both! and serve it with fries. That slice of meat is about an inch thick and very tasty. It's just something you are going to know you ate for a long time! Ha

Diet RC on draft? Are you kidding me? No, they weren't and it was tall, icy and delicious.

So there's a lot of good about this place and it was a fun time. The only negative to me is the stairwell going down to it. It kinda reeks and the door mats both out and inside the door is just filthy. It reminded me of the big city, nasty handrails and the need for hand sanitizer.

Bunganut Pig Franklin – We were invited to come listen to a band (Groovebox) a few Saturdays ago...our first experience with Bunganut. The staff were friendly. There was no smoke. The band rocked out many 70's and 80's tunes that kept the dance floor full most of the night. It was a lot of fun! The place is smaller so get there early!!! We had the Club Sandwich...it was awesome!

Best place to be in Franklin – The Pig is the BEST! Great place for food, music, pool, darts, cornhole, etc... The staff is great! The owners Mark and Amy Goodson have done so much to the place! They are wonderful people! It's non-smoking in the inside, but they do have a closed in veranda with heaters for those of us that do smoke. Such a cool place! And the filets are to die for! When you go there ask for Mandi, Dina, Jamie, or Reyna! Their the BEST!

Great night out! – I live and work in Franklin and would much rather not go to Nashville these days as every night you hear about another shooting in downtown around very nice places. The Pig gives you great food, great atmosphere and great music. I do agree after a certain hour of the night it does get a bit smoky, but now the outdoor patio makes a great break area if you need a bit of fresh air. Service has been great and not so great, but usually because of short staff. All and All this is the place I recommend above the newbies, Tin Roof and Dan McGuiness.

Heading for the shower – I feel dirty after leaving this place. The smoke was so thick and the service was worse. Their bartender should find another job. Greeter at Walmart would be above his abilities. I won't be going back.

Interesting vibe - older crowd, very smokey (no food on my trip) – Upon a recommendation by a co-worker, I checked out the Bunganut Pig with a friend who's as into music as I am. We decided to go after checking out a band that has multiple gigs at this place. They're called Magnolia. (Sidenote - their MySpace and website bill their music as "original country," but they were anything but. It was just another cover band, at least for the 1hr+ we were there. We split after so-so renditions of "Sweet Home Alabama" and some Fleetwood Mac.) The atmosphere at the Bunganut is pretty status quo for a pub. It's in an older building (now a shopping center?) in Franklin, just a minute from the downtown strip. The place would be filed under D for Dive Bar, as it's literally in the basement of this place, and the decorations and mood were set to make it even more pub-like. We didn't try the food, but the Black and Tan I ordered was quickly poured and in my hands ($4.50 + $1.50 tip). The big negative I have for the place is the smoke. Yeah, yeah... I know... it's a pub. Nevertheless, I about suffocated. Additionally, being in my mid-20s, I felt very young in the place -- but that's great if that's the crowd you're looking for. Maybe I picked a weird night to go (a Saturday in November), but it will probably be a while before I visit again.

This sage old swine serves up a jolly good time. – In Short
Although the trappings are decidedly British, the attitude is anything but pretentious--Southern hospitality permeates Franklin's oldest bar. A host of friendly locals keeps the place lively throughout the day, often coming for lunch and staying through the extended happy hour (12pm-7pm, Monday through Saturday). With jumbo-sized portions of usual pub favorites and a congenial atmosphere, this cozy tavern lives up to its motto of "Good food, good cheer, served here."

Cool Neigborhood Pub! – The filet was great, the music was awesome and the service was outstanding! The place has been completely remodeled since we were there last. The new air filtration system works great ... it wasn't smokey at all.

Thanks to the friendly staff for taking such good care of us!

A Great Place for Dinner and Intertainment – Food was very good. Service was great. Band was exceptional!!! It is a small place so if this bothers you then don't go. Otherwise go early and stay for the band. A great place for the over 30 crowd!
