Had to have my thermostat replaced on my electric heat pump unit.Call Haskins Heating & Cooling a conpany I've been using since early 90's and trusted there work and honesty.Tech checked it out and said I needed a new thermostat .He was here about 30 min. replaced it and gave me a bill for $293.00. Their shop is two miles from my house,not much drive time.
Today I went on line and got the price of the thermostat he used for replacement.It is a Honeywell FocusPro TH5000.The price was $30-$40 range for a FocusPro Non-Programmable, 1H/1C Thermostat.The company I've used long term charged me ONLY $234.00 for the unit.The service call was $59.00 which I thought was fair.Like I said my total bill was $293.oo..Thought a fair price would be $130.00 -$160.00 . I've called three 2nd opinions ,all three said I was overcharged.Two said I was grossly.overcharged.
I called Haskins H & C sevaral times and tried to talk to Mr.Jeff Haskins.Lady answering phone would say he is in a meeting.The next time he was out of the office and so on.Each time she said he would call me back which he never did.I gave Mr. Haskins over a week to respond,which he didn't I am really shocked as to the way he handled this complaint from a long term customer.I feel as I have no recourse other than file a complaint BBB and other available sources.
I feel I have been way over charged?
I highly recomend Haskins Heating & Cooling. They responded quickly to my call and installed just as quickly when installing a new HVAC unit. I am a satisfied customer!
Great co. to have on speed-dial. My A/C went out and I called them and we had a new unit the next day. This is a wonderful co. to have work for me.
My A/C went out this morning I called Haskins Heating Cooling and they was very rpofessional on the phone. Young lady said they could get someone out in a couple of hours. They called me as the service tech was on the way. He was there quicker than first thought. The serice tech quoted me a price for the repair. and the end resul;t was that exact amount. I will be use Haskins in the future. Thanks
Never Again will find someone else – When I called they never answered Haskins someone just said hello. I explained my problem to them, my unit was not cooling to set temperature, they said ok I will send someone out after lunch. I asked them to have someone call letting me know they were on the way out. Needless to say they never called.
I would have assumed they would tell me to shut my unit off just in case it was froze, however they didn't so I did not turn it off.
The man that came out could barely walk, very unprofessional and said your unit is froze you owe me a service call, I said really I don't think so. This could have all be avoided had they told me to shut my unit off.
I called the office to complain the man on the phone was trying to patrionize me by calling me "hon" I said please don't call me "hon" he then proceeded to tell me it's standard and nothing could or would be done about it, and said to call someone else. Very professional don't you think.
I would not recommend them to anyone nor will I ever call them again.
Great Company to work with – Came out to my home on Saturday and was a pleasure to have at my house, found a burnt wire and had my unit back on and running in a few minutes. And I was very happy with my bill and the Senior discount I recieved. THANK YOU !
Bad Experience – Nice folks, but I had major problems after their tech shorted out my HVAC unit during a routine Fall maintenance. Afterward, our HVAC froze into a solid block of ice. They were going to charge me another service fee and $90/hour to stand there with MY garden hose and run water over the ice. Estimated thaw time was 4-5 hours. They told me I was not qualified to do this myself. I smelled a rat. They were invited to leave.
We were without heat for 5 days while the HVAC unit thawed. The outdoor air temperature dipped into the teens at night. We froze. When the HVAC unit finally defrosted, we had a different company come to fix the damage. We were informed that a frozen unit could have been quickly thawed by turning off the HEAT, turning on the AC and running the unit for 15 minutes. Are you kidding me? We froze for no reason!
That begs the question: Were the Haskins “experts” ignorant of this fact or did they prefer to charge me a service fee of $60 and $90/hour for 4-5 hours?
Haskins Heating & Cooling denied any liability. They told us the “short circuit” caused by their tech could not have caused our HVAC to freeze solid. They blamed the problem on the unit itself (which they sold to us and installed).
Needless to say, we have a new HVAC company. “A Affordable Services” out of Ashland City fixed our problems for less than $100.
