Saved my butt in a bind, many times. – Working with Mac Enthusiasts over the years has been an absolute pleasure. Quality of service is what I've experienced here time and time again, so I thought I'd take some time to review their store. Being a smaller independent store, they have the freedom to do things other corporate stores can't.
For example, occasionally I need something an item so quickly that I need it delivered - getting off the lot or sending a runner can be such a hassle. Twenty minutes later, multiple times, the item just showed up, with a pleasant smile from a guy named Jesse.
I've also brought my daughter's computer here for a liquid damage problem. They got the machine fixed and I've never had a problem with it since. They kept me up to date on the progress of the repair as well, since liquid damage is, according to the technicians there, always a complicated issue.
When I've gone into the store they always have a smile and a good vibe.
Highly recommended – I've never had a better experience at a computer repair place. I had data recovery done and they saved everything for me, THANK YOU mac enthusiasts.
AVOID THIS PLACE – My dealings with MacEnthusiats have resulted in me filing complaints with the BBB of Los Angeles as well as the Department of Consumer Affairs of Los Angeles.
They made several errors processing my repairs, they consistently misquoted prices for said repairs, they refused to take responsibility for all of this, they were totally disorganized, and when pushed to simply wrap everything up, the owner, Mark Greenblatt, responded by essentially throwing a tantrum via email about my complaints with their extremely poor quality of service (as well as utterly horrible customer service).
I filed a dispute with Amex for other charges they billed me. Amex, not me, decided that they were responsible for refunding part of an earlier charge as a result of non-performance and refusal to ship my Mac tower and drive. When this occurred Greenbaltt went crazy again, sending me outrageous emails demanding a cashiers check for $616 in exchange for shipping the tower. Where he got $616 I have no idea. In the same email he refused to ship my merchandise and demanded I come into the store in person and hand him this cashiers check.
From the last invoice I paid: "Free delivery per Mathew when the work is done.
Beware of this place – I took a MacBook Pro in for service and they asked if I wanted to sell it. So I left it there, they called me the next business day and offered to buy it for 400 plus. I went to pick up thhe check and they said they'd have to mail it. After 3 weeks, no check. I called 3 times, they took my number and never called back. So, basically, they ripped off my computer and now I'm going to have to chase after them in small claims court. Very dishonest- buyers should head to the Apple Store and sellers should head to eBay.
Awful, rude, arrogant bastards – I got off the phone with this guy Daryl.
He put me on hold several times and even said, "I have to talk to you by email because i have a MORE important call"
He then just sent me a credit card authorization form with no more info attached. Read the rest of the reviews on CitySearch. You cant trust these people.
I called Greg at MacApple Help and that guy was honest, informative, and tremendously helpful.
Stay away from Macenthusiasts!!!
Steve Jobs would be proud! Mac service, done right. – I have been buying and servicing my computers at Mac Enthusiasts for 6 years, and I have nothing but nice things to say about this shop.
They are a small operation who have time for their customers and actually care that you get what you want out of your computing experience. Since they take the time to get to know your personal computing needs, they never waste your time or money on things you don't need or won't like.
I have consistently received honest, efficient service, and their employees have helped me get the most out of my aging machines without spending hundreds of dollars. When the Apple store "geniuses" were insistent that I couldn't run Photoshop effectively without getting a new machine, Mac Enthusiasts cleaned out my hard-drive, upgraded my RAM, and had me out the door editing my graphics for less than 1/10th of the price.
I have sent my family and friends here to consistently glowing reviews. They even (finally) convinced my dad to switch from his PC, something I had been working on for over 3 years, and helped him adjust to the new computing environment that he relies on to run his company. The employees were patient and kind, not condescending or arrogant, and helped him with everything he needed to make a seamless transition from the dark side. Furthermore, these guys (and gals) know their stuff; I guarantee you will leave the shop with more knowledge, ready to get more out of your Mac, than when you came in.
I give Mac Enthusiasts my strongest recommendation; I wouldn't trust anyone else with my computer.
Good Deal, Good People – I bought a used Mac Book Pro from them and it was exactly what I ordered and more. The internal components had been replaced and upgraded. The shell looked brand new.
If I need service it's nice knowing I have a place to go.
Great recommendations on what equipment to buy, and excellent system installation and repairs – I have bought all of my Macs from Macenthusiasts ever since they opened their shop. And I have had them deliver and set up all of the equipment. I have used their Macs to write and publish more than a dozen books. They have provided outstanding recommendations on back up systems, color laser printers, external hard drives, etc. and as a result I have never lost any data in spite of crashes. Repairs have been done with the best expertise and professionalism. And they have "bent over backwards" to accommodate my urgent deadlines. They even let me use their own computers in their office to meet a deadline when I had an serious problem. They are by far the best at Mac sales and service in the Los Angeles region.
Have enjoyed working with both ownership and staff for Computer, Printer and Networking Systems, on-site and in the store, for Research, Advice, Purchase, and Installation for close to 20 years now with exceptionaly excellent results every time.
Their hard work, due diligence, and wide knowledge has proven highly valuable to us, which we say with much vigor that the MacEnthusasts Retail Repair and Purchase organization has significantly contributed to our growth and expansion as a company, as well as each of our individual personal knowledge and professional growth.
Architectural Photography is a highly technical, artistic, and competitive venture, so we depend on our Computer Systems to fulfill the requirements of our Clients. The expertise, personal service, dedication to customer satisfaction, and loyalty that MacEnthusiasts provides makes us want tio give them a BIG THANK YOU every time we see them to chat, or conduct business with one another.
The efforts they have demonstrated to highly experienced professionals with difficult challenges to overcome, would be expected by most. However, we have seen time-and-time again, that their verve and vigor to help and keep their customers happy has been just as well applied to the beginner, or company with limited requirements of word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheets found in home offices and many large corporations.
Have had many experiences with a number of other retailers for one reason or another throughout our history. Yet none have been able to compare with the exceptional Services with Good Pricing that MacEnthusiasts have provided.
MacEnthusiasts are THE BEST!!!
TRY THEM !!
You WON'T be disappointed,
Mac purchases + service – Have gone to Mac Enthusiasts for many years now. We have purchased a couple of laptops, numerous external devices like HD's and optical writers, RAM, as well as used them for countless repairs and upgrades. They have expertly fixed both my desktop and Powerbook Macs, even when my problems were involved. Any time a part was defective stlll under warranty, they always dealt with the manufacturer and got it replaced promptly for me. Unfortunately for Mac users, not a lot of smaller shops like this, even in LA. The ability to talk directly to the owner of the store and getting his personal assistance, makes Mac Enthusiasts an unusual place compared to most other computer stores. All they do is handle Macs and are very up to date on being very familiar with all the latest hard and softwares. So if one of our computers has an issue, I can count on it being something they have seen many times before, take care of it and are never learning how to fix it on my Mac.
