Convenient to Vandy. Previously I used Simpson BP but after finding out they lost their lease I ask around and Red Ball was highly recommended. I found an oil change special on their website. Will be returning for more services before spring break.
A great garage! I failed the emissions test and could not renew my car tags. I took it to The Red Ball Garage. They immediately diagnosed the problem and repaired it. The next day I passed the emissions test with no problems. David at the counter was pleasant and explained the problem in a way I could understand.
Good experience – I was on the interstate and my engine light came on. I was nervous to drive my car so I pulled off the Church Street exit. I stopped and ask if there was a garage near and was directed to The Red Ball Garage. It was close to closing time and they never complained. They found the problem and made the repair. There was a comfortable waiting area with complimentary snacks and free Wi-Fi.
Hospital employee discount – When my car needed service in the past I would wait until Saturday my day off. A co-worker at Baptist Hospital told me about The Red Ball Garage. WHAT A FIND! Not only did they provide good service they give a 15% discount to all hospital employees. Good service and convenient. Just dropped my car off in the morning and picked it up after work. Now I play golf on Saturday. Thanks guys. I highly recommend The Red Ball Garage.
Response to bobbylane124 – My name is David Chambers and I am the owner of The Red Ball Garage. After talking to you on the phone I would like to respond to your comments. First Mr. Mulford let me thank you for the first time we worked on your truck, I believe we rebuilt the entire front suspension and steering linkage, I assume those repairs are still performing satisfactorily. Ross you came in late on Wed afternoon and said that Jiffy Lube had told you that your check engine light was on because your truck had a bad knock sensor and that it was a "quick 10 min. fix". You talked to Brian the manager and he told you that it was a more involved repair and that it would probably require around two and a half hours to complete. Since it was about 5 min to closing we wouldn't be able to do it that day but if you would bring the truck back the next day we would be happy to fix the problem. You said you would like to bring your '03 Tahoe in on Thurs. at 1pm to have the knock sensors replaced. You talked at length with Brian about the problem asking him how the labor and parts charges were broken down. He told you that the labor guide called for 2.5 hours for one knock sensor and 2.6 hrs to replace both. Parts would be about $90 for one and $180 if both sensors needed replacing. For a total of about $330- $420 + tax. You inquired as to why we would be more than what Jiffy Lube had told you the repair would be and he replied that this repair would take longer that 10 min. You asked what the knock sensors did and I told you that they controlled detonation and kept the engine from pinging by retarding the timing. You asked what damage it could cause if you did nothing and I said that the worst case could be some internal engine damage. You told us that you would probably be back the next day if we could guarantee that your car would be ready by closing because you were going on a trip at 7:00 a.m. the next morning and if we were not finished with your truck would we furnish you with a rental car for your trip. You ended our conversation by telling us that you were going to check around and see what other shops would charge. Yesterday about 2 pm you called and I answered the phone, you asked me how much we had told you the repairs would be and I said about $420. At that point you informed me that we were higher than some other shop and you would go elsewhere. That afternoon I saw your "Review" on Citysearch. Really, Mr.Mulford, I fail to see how you were cheated when we didn't work on your truck. Your correct anyone can buy a knock sensor over the counter for about $58, but you don't get the 12 mo./12,000 mile warranty for the repair. But the main issue seems to be how long it takes to do the repair. Mitchell labor guide a industry standard calls for 2.5 hours for replacing one knock sensor and 2.6 for both. The intake manifold must be removed to get at the sensors. Not "a 10 min job". No one told you that your engine would "blow out" but that it might not be able to control the detonation, detonation does not mean it will "blow out" but that the air/fuel mixture will ignite prematurity before the spark plug actually fires, causing detonation. It's bad for the internal components of the engine. You've been given bad information regarding the time it takes to repair your truck, but it wasn't from us. I suggest when you call other garages to get a price you give them the VIN # of your truck so they can give you a accurate price. Mr. Mulford I've been in business here for 20 yrs. We've got several thousand satisfied customers. We are not crooks, we don't have to swindle anybody and we don't run a crooked business. But you are right about Karma, I'll take mine when it comes around. If we can be of any other service please feel free to give us a call.
Never again Red Ball! Never again! – I can't believe that these guys get away with this mess. My co-workers have been complaining about the work and estimates that this garage offers. I always look at a situation as, "Unless I have personally seen it, I can't really give a negative opinion regarding the matter." Well these guys have earned this negative opinion. Thanks for not tightening the bolts (how simple is that) after a oil change and causing me several hundred dollars in fixing crap that you guys could have prevented with the twist of your wrist. I would never recommend this garage to anyone and will continue to tell people never to use this garage. We get a company discount and I still would pay twice as much to get a job done by professionals.
Great Garage! – I am from out of town (Gulf Coast Mississippi), visiting friends in Nashville/Baptist Hospital and was having some problems with my truck. I figured I needed new tires, so I went over to Red Ball.
Brian, the manager, explained my options - types, brands, and prices. He was polite, knowledgeable, and didn't talk down to me just because I was a woman. Once I made my decision, the tires were replaced without problem.
The mechanic did note some additional front end work that was needed. Brian explained what I needed to get done now to get home safely and what could wait until later.
All the work was done professionally and I was treated with respect. I highly recommend Red Ball Garage and will definitely come back if I need repairs again while in Nashville.
Very sad service – took my car in for service last month and WOW met a very weird service manager BRIAN after he looked me up and down as i was a piece of meat i could barley get up the nerve to ask if i could get a oil change and it will be my last one there ,,,,,GREASE ALL OVER MY CAR FROM HIS SHOTTY MECHANICS,i went back inside and ask for a paper towel and was looked up and down by the service manager again,,,mabey because i just hapen to be a 20 year old student .....i would never go back there again...
never again – I had repairs to my car there before taking a trip to St. Louis. On the way, the part that was repaired fell off !! Needless to say, I was stuck in an unfamiliar area, with no transportation. A three hour delay to get to my destinantion didn't help my mood either. The mechanics had broken the bolt and had added washers to it to keep it on. Crappy repair job. On top of that, I was charged $300 labor on a front brake job that did not include changing the rotors. This was a job that should have taken an hour at most. When I questioned this, I was blown off... They've lost a customer.
SAVED AGAIN – I had backed into one of our cars and destroyed the headlight. I purchased a new one on line and Brian agreed to install the new one. I knew it would take me hours to remove the bumber to get at the light so I had it done. They also replaced a hood release that was broke. Everything was done and it did not cost me an arm and a leg. I dont understand how people can give this Garage and Brian a bad review. They have always been honest and fair. And again, if something was not done right they will make it right!!!
