I went in to AJ Martin on my (unexpected) wedding day. I was 8 months pregnant and told Amy that I needed one ring for my pinky (mine, since I was so swollen) and one for my thumb (which would be my husband's band). Amy got me fixed up in no time, which is good, because I only had about half an hour to shop. It is now almost 8 years later, we're still married and we're still wearing the rings (though mine now fits on my ring finger where it belongs). Some jewelers would have been horrified by this scenario; Amy faced it with good humor and wisdom and I can recommend that anyone in any condition visit Amy if they are interested in estate jewelry.
Excellent! – Buying my engagement ring here was like shopping in the attic of a glamourous, eccentric, chain-smoking aunt. I was delightfully bullied in a way that would only be excusable in the South, later relegating "Aunty" back to her attic asylum till next time cigarettes, bourbon-laced tea and fabulous jewelry wisdom were needed.
Absolute perfection. We will be back.
Gorgeous jewlry and fantastic finds! – I would recommend going to A.J. Martins over any other jewelry store in Nashville. She has a unique selection of vintage, rare, and one of a kind pieces including rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. This is not a factory jewelry store like the big chains that most people go to. The owner is passionate about what she does and she only sells the best of the best.
I was looking for a vintage style wedding band that would compliment my engagement ring, which my fiance purchased though A.J Martin. Of course she had the perfect band and it looked like it was right out of 1920. Other jewelry stores were trying to convince me to sauder a piece of crap white gold ring to my platinum vintage style engagement ring. I am so happy we went back to A.J. Martins!
The owner has a quirky personality that compliments her eclectic, one of a kind jewelry shop perfectly. You will never find another place quite like it. So support local businesses and run, don't walk to A.J. Martin!
West Ends Unique Jewelry Boutique – A.J Martin is one of the most unique and interesting jewelry stores located on West End Avenue. The jewelry can be colorful, fun, electic, and funky whatever you are in the mood for. I often find interesting braclets, ear rings, and necklaces that often are the topic of conversation whether I am traveling from place to place or on a girls night out. I have shopped at A.J Martins for years and I am completely satisfied with the quality of her jewelry and have never had to return one piece !!! She continues to greet me with a smile and several compliments everytime I visit her store whether I buy something or not. This woman certainly has a knack for finding wonderfully different pieces of jewelry that makes me feel like I left Bergdorf Goodman or shopped in the Soho district of N.Y.C. Keep doing what you do Amy !!!!!

Never have I been more insulted by a store owner! – I went into AJ Martin to ask about sizing down my antique engagement ring from the 20s. The proprietor was nice until I handed over my ring. The very first thing that she said to me was that the setting was "total crap," then proceeded to bad mouth everything else about the ring for the next several minutes, until I finally had enough and left.
But the most insulting thinig was when she asked how I aquired the ring and after telling her it was it a family heirloom and had also been my Mother's engagement ring, but was now mine since my parents had were divorced, she declared the ring "jinxed" and asked why I would even want it. Needless to say I was incredibly insulted, offended, and just plain hurt by this statement. This is not the way you treat potential customers. She may have been right on several points, but there was a much better way to relay that information to me.
Considering all her nasty remarks regarding my engagement ring, there is no way on earth I would ever give her my business. Just a bad experience all the way around. I would highly suggest going elsewhere.
best jewelry – I have been shopping at aj's since i moved here in May . That is my favorite place to buy jewelry. Its always very unique and attracts lots of attention.I buy all my gifts there for the women in my life and they all love them. I love A. J. Martin!!!!!!
Overpriced – I bought 6 items because I loved so many things in this shop. However, 5 of the 6 items have either had stones fall out or broke in some way. I bought a bracelet for $40 and saw that a boutique a few doors down had the same one for $25
He didn't go to Jared's (thank God)! – What a great experience! Amy is one of a kind! She guided my fiance & I through the entire process...from setting to stones to final product. I wanted something different and unique...and that it is! This is not your typical jewelry store and she is not your typical owner. She truly is an expert in this area and she's not one to sugar-coat anything....just listen to what she tells you! We will definitely be returning to AJ Martin's in the future!
Nice jewelry, Awful owner – It is not everyday that you can go into a cool little boutique style jewelry store and be insulted and belittled by the owner. She will critique your clothing ( Out of style, not dressy enough, etc) Tell your young children NOT to listen to their mother ( when you are attempting to teach them how to behave in a store) and then show your daughter some flashy piece of jewelry and tell her it can be hers ( if you're willing to buy it) all the while puffing on cigarettes and blowing smoke in their faces. It's not worth the personal insults to me to see her inventory. She was very rude to my friend who went in on a separate occasion, telling her that her face is too pretty for the glasses she was wearing. Then she proceeded to offer dieting and hair advice, unsolicited!! Amazing woman....oh so rude!
Fantastic place -- guys especially can't go wrong – AJ Martin is far and away my favorite jewelry store. I would highly recommend her to any guy who wants to surprise his wife or girlfriend with jewelry, but needs some help picking it out.
The owner, Amy Martin, has amazing expertise. She designed and produced my wife's engagement ring; my wife gets many compliments on the ring. It was also appraised for much more than what Amy charged me.
Yet Amy also has stuff for pretty much any budget. She won't pressure you at all--I just go in and tell her my rough budget, and she suggests a couple of options. She has gotten to know my wife, so she knows what things fit with her style and will look good with her color. I am very thankful for Amy because these things can be somewhat mystifying to me.
Amy is very fair and reasonably priced. She is also a character--it is always a fun outing to visit her store.
