I have lived here for almost a year and the apartments are nice, the maintenace staff is helpful, but the most important thing for me has been the money I've saved by not living downtown. Pros- close to downtown, lots of space for the money and pet friendly Cons- dated brick exterior, older fitness equipment, pool isn't open late
I would NEVER recommend the Gazebo Apartments to ANYONE…not even my worst enemy. The management is horrible. Extremely unkind and unwilling to work with you. From the prices alone, you would think that you should be living at the Viridian or some upscale condo/apartment complex. Every apartment has a different price. No consistency whatsoever. These apartments are a dump and they should be shameful of themselves for charging the $1200+ that you will pay in rent. BEWARE of all the administrative, pet, and “add on fees” that they conveniently tack on without telling you or explaining to you before you sign the lease. And it is extremely convenient how they have a disclaimer on all their “specials” stating that they can change at any time. So what that means that today the application fee may be $25, but tomorrow it could be $50 depending on what mood they are in. Plus they don’t tell you that if you sign a lease and you want to add on another roommate, they will slap you with a $200 administrative fee, but had you just applied together at the same time, that fee may have been waived, depending on their mood that day. The apartment Manager, Dee is a snot! Super rude and unfriendly. The only worth a damn is Laura. She at least tries to make an effort at assisting you and meeting your needs. These apartments claim to be “Newly renovated,” but NOT to normal renovations standards. More like they painted over everything to make it look new and installed new carpets and flooring. The place needs to be entirely gutted out!!!! Can’t place anything heavy in the cupboards without them boing out. Not to mention they are covered in about 30 layers of black paint. I was afraid to place any of my breakable dishware on them in fear that they will come crashing down. They lure you in by showing you an apartment that in the end will look NOTHING like the one they put you in. They take you to their nicest, newly renovated model and then place you in half renovated dump filled with mold and possible asbestos. The maintenance is an absolute joke. Now if you can even get them to come out and fix what is broken, you will wish they hadn’t because you could have done a MUCH better job YOURSELF! They trick you into signing the lease before you do the walk through so you are bound by the lease. You arrive and can’t even move in because of the LONG list of repairs that need to be done in order for it to be considered “livable.” Unless this is a last resort, sign a lease at your own risk but it is highly UNRECOMMENDED! You WILL regret it!
I AM THROUGHLY CONVINCED THAT ALL OF THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE DONE BY THE GAZEBO STAFF AND OR THEIR FRIENDS BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY SOMEONE WOULD FIND THIS TO BE AN ADEQUATE STANDARD OF LIVING!!
Good place – My stay at gazebo has gone well. I moved in my junior year and school and will be moving out in a few weeks due to graduating. My main reasons for choosing gazebo were the close proximity to Belmont and the fact that the rent was super cheap compared to the downtown area. I haven’t interacted with their staff often, but I have found them to be friendly when we do speak. My apartment has 2 good sized bedrooms and 2 baths which has worked well for my roommate and I. I haven’t had any major negative experiences since I’ve lived here, but I tend to stay to myself.
Overall I would give the apartments a 4.5 out of 5.
Don't Move In Here – At first Gazebo was very nice and accomodating. We were shown a model apartment that was pretty nice. I asked to view the apartment that I was signing papers for in 3 days and kept getting the run around. Once I was shown my actual apartment, I was HORRIFIED to say the least! It was extremely musty and you could tell that previous renters had been smokers. When I asked what could be done about it they offered to clean the carpet and that was it. We're talking years of smoke saturated in the carpet. The office staff couldn't have been more rude and unaccomodating. I HIGHLY recommend looking elsewhere.
This place is awful! – Don't rent here!
I lived here for a year and in that time I had so many issues.
First, I had termites that were eating thru the floor where my water heater was. I called the emergency number and a maintenance man came and sprayed some bug spray and told me to clean up all of the tiny carcasses myself. There was never any further termite treatment - which I told the office there should be. A month later my water heater fell thru the floor. Maintence came out and hammered a board under the water heater but still didn't treat for termites.
Then, the sewage to the building backed up while I was at work and flooded my bathroom into the hallway. They came in, took out the carpet padding and set up giant fans to dry out the floor boards and left for several days. No one ever came to clean the bathroom floors or the tub. Finally, after complaining to the office, they sent some toothless man with a roll of carpet. He made several crude comments, replaced only a portion of the carpet in the hallway, and left. Not comforting for a single woman living alone.
Then, a pipe above my walk in closet burst just before I left town for the weekend. My entire apartment flooded in minutes and all of my personal property was ruined. I called the office immediately. They sent maintenance out who cleaned up the fallen ceiling and assured me they'd get everything cleaned while I was gone. When I returned home three days later I found that all of my windows and doors were left wide open and my apartment was unoccupied. I also found that, once again, maintenance had set up giant fans and left for several days. I complained to the manager and they said they had no idea my personals had been unsecure for the entire weekend. I was 2 months pregnant and couldn't move anything myself and my doctor wouldn't let me near all of that mold. But it was a week later that the manager finally deemed my apartment unliveable. They refused to help me move, they refused to file an insurance claim, they refused to cancel my lease. I finally had to get an attorney involved so the would move my stuff to a nearby apartment - but by then everything was soaked and ruined. It's a year later and I'm still fighting with them about insurance claims and all of my property damage. I had to file with my own insurance and after months they finally agreed to pay my deductible but they took the final month worth rent out even tho I couldn't live there.
It wasn't only maintenance issues. The light in my breezway was always out and they never replaced it. My neighbors were always noisy and I would have to call police. The gates are always broken. And the few times when the gates were working, the office never could get my phone number correct in their system so my guests couldn't call me to open the gate anyway. Parking infront of my own building (Q) was always horrible.
Don't move here!
Cool place – I moved into Gazebo at the beginning of the summer. I haven’t had any bad experiences and the people in the people are nice. Other apartments in the area were more expensive and not as big.
