Do Seek the Pancake Pantry – The only reason I can think that anybody goes to this place is because they ignore the many negative reviews, like to spend money on cold pancakes in a dirty restaurant, wait for cold food and wait in line.

I can see tourists who write good reviews because they need to justify wasting their vacation time and money. But the locals? Why?

All I can guess is that it is some sort of Stockholm syndrome where hostage Nashvilleans become sympathetic to their captors. Locals should think twice about recommending this restaurant. Tourists might think we enjoy bad food at high prices.

The day I went with my family (my daughter had been told this place was cool for some reason she could not explain) there was no line and we were seated quickly. I opened the menu and saw nothing but overpriced junk in less volume than IHop. I decided to cut our losses and not eat. I had the best meal.

I ordered coffee and should have skipped it as well. It tasted like burnt dirt.

As we waited for 45 minutes for our food to arrive we nearly froze to death. Our food was not as lucky while it waited to be served because it was stone cold when it finally arrived. We left as soon as we could convince our children they had been lied to about the Pancake Pantry.

We suggested to the cashier that they regulate the temperature so that the guest did not freeze to death. I swear this is her reply verbatim. “We have to keep it cold in here because the floor is heated and anything that is spilled has to dry quickly so the waiters don’t slip so we keep it cold so it will dry.”

Huh?

I hate this place. I am a native Nashvillean and will never return. Go if you must but don’t say you weren’t warned. If I could give it a negative star I would.

Even better, come to my house and I’ll make you wait an hour for a half cooked pancake and charge you $25 to eat it off the floor. It will be just like eating at Pancake Pantry.

So disappointed. – Even though its always crowded the food is nothing special at all. I had the Sweet Potato pancakes that I had heard people rave about. They did not taste any different than ordinary pancakes. The syrup however was delicious but big deal I wanted delicious pancakes. Overall it was definitely still good but I was just expecting incredible.

Perfection takes time – Pancake pantry is a tradition,& it's said you're not a true Nashvillian until you stand in line at the Pantry.I will

often make the 30 mile drive into town just for the Chocolate Sin pancakes,as a matter of fact I think I'll do it now!

All hype. – I've never really understood the appeal of pancake pantry. Waiting in line for an hour to have over-priced pancakes that I could have cooked better myself? No thanks.

For better service and better food I recommend the place over on Elliston next to Krispy Kreme.

Great French Toast! – The French Toast was AWESOME! Very pretty looking too! If the person ahead of us hadn't noticed we had to get a parking ticket, we might've gotten towed! It's free in the parking lot behind for the 1st 1 1/2 hrs. (with a lot ticket)...other wise you need to find street parking. We went on a Monday afternoon, so the wait was under 10 minutes. We got seated at a table along the wall, so we were very close to the two tables on either side of us. But it was a casual place and the waitress was very relaxed, it was enjoyable. The volume seemed loud at times, but nothing too over the top. The service was fast & friendly and the order, accurate. The bathrooms could've used work, but I've seen worse. The table was clean. The cashier was nice. It was nice to not have to wait for the waitress the realize we were done and then bring us a ticket, she brought it out shortly after our order, when she checked on us and we payed at the register, when we were ready. She kept checking on us and getting us our refills. We definitely will go back. Maybe not when the line is too awful long, but for sure we will dine there again!

Amazing Legacy & Eats – Pancake Pantry is a part of Nashville culture. Not only do the locals and tourists both wait in long lines (rain, snow or shine) but so do the local celebrities. It's amazing food and usually really good service. Worth the time to eat and not that pricey, either!

Worth the wait – I have been wanting to try The Pancake Pantry, and after 5 years of living in Nashville, I finally made it out there. There was a little wait, but not too bad. The people in line were all in good spirits and the weather was nice. We were seated pretty quickly and the service was prompt. Our waitress was very nice and did an awesome job. A good place to people watch, since the layout of the restaurant is quite open. I had the Sugar and Spice pancakes, and my gf had the Raspberry Delight pancakes... both were absolutely delicious! I would love to go back and try different ones!

Quite Tasty for Breakfast or Lunch – If you can get in without the usual wraparound-the-building wait, then it's totally worth visiting. I happened to be luck enough to only wait about fifteen minutes to be seated. We had a fantastic server (cannot remember her name). The Caribbean Pancakes are excellent (add chocolate chips). If there is an hours long wait, then you should just try another of Nashville's excellent restaurants, but if you do go it's quite tasty.

Awesome Cakes! – This is the most amazing menu for pancakes that I have ever seen. There are pancakes that you can not even imagine. The sweet potatoe pancakes with the cinnamon cream syrup is absolutely to die for. Also, Chocolate Sin - with raspberry compote and choc ganash is heaven on earth. It is worth every extra dime you spend - and wait - the line is nothing once you enter the doors.
