Improvement vs same old thing – Looks of the store have been improving,it does not look it's 20 something years old as much as it has in the past. It is dark and lots of the fixtures are falling apart or not even covered. Most people like to enter a store and not feel they have to walk around stuff sitting in the way or a person putting up bread with the racks of bread blocking the only way by. It always smells good like something cooking not all musty like alot of stores it's same age. Employees always seem to be busy stocking, cleaning, working, but never seems to be someone in charge. You hear them call for manager to register 1 or manager for an approval but to tell you the truth I wouldn't know who that was unless I needed one of those things. There is a window that someone is sitting in and I suppose if I needed a money order, stamps,or a check cashed that is where I would go. The back of the store seems much more active. The men back there are always bringing out fresh meat and speak to everyone. As you approach the front to check out there is a deli and the ones there are always active bringing baked stuff out or slicing meat for someone and always speak even asking if they can help you with something or find something. My most recent visit was really nice until I got to the check out. I proceeded to the line behind one other person in front of her was an employee reading a magazine,he did not bother to move and she and I both went to another open line. The girl checked me out pretty quickly and the boy carried my groceries to my car. I shop this store and have for alot of years. I would recommend it rather than the Kroger.

shopping locally – This store has been my favorite place to shop for years. The meat is the best in town and is cut there, not shipped in pre-packed. The men that work back there are very good at what they do and will cut you special cuts or get you something fresh if you want. You can price compare with the big name stores and it is really reasonable. The people that work out in the store ; produce, grocery, bakery frozen are always helpful, asking if you need any help. The hot food that they serve in the deli is really good,we eat there several times a week for lunch. I like the fact that they will carry your groceries to your vehicle even if you only have a bag or 2,most big stores have done away with that. Parking is always easy. The only problem I ever have at Comptons is the check out. Never have enough lanes open during busy times, sometimes when I go to use my card the machines are down and it takes quite a while for them to get them back or they don't, and I have to use the ATM to get cash to pay or write a check which takes alot of time.

Worst tasting meat and worst service ever – Well i used to shop here all the time, several times a week since i live down the street from this location,i had lent my debit card for my business account to my partner, so I had to use the checkbook, Once i was up at the counter the cashier made a big deal about me having a few piercings on my drivers license photo and taking a check , writing all kinds of info on it and asking me to initial it, after which she took it back to the office and after 10 minutes of waiting while everyone stared like i was glowing bright green and the bag boys made fun of me while they thought i wasn't watching, the frizzy blond haired old lady came back and said she couldn't take the check even though i use the business card there all the time and they never look at it, when i asked why she said aloud"we've been getting too many bad checks here lately which was totally rude and humiliating, in my opinion the people at this store act and look like a bunch of rude, uneducated hillbillies.

Besides this everything in the freezer is ancient and tastes freezer burnt, the floors are filthy, and the meat tastes like it was run through a rusty old grinder, and the prices are jacked up on everything but government meat and cheese, the place is totally low class. i wouldn't recommend shopping here to anyone.

great meat prices, lazy service – Small grocer that has everything you'd need food-wise. The large lot of teenagers they have working there are slow to move, mostly uncourteous, and look at you like you are impending on their time, when they are really just wishing their shifts were over. Hey, kids! If you don't want to be there, get another job! Go park cars downtown or sell water. Every time I go up there, the teenagers never step out of my way. Meaning, I have to walk around them. I'm the customer! Doesn't that count anymore in this mad society? When they see a customer walking into the small lobby, they should move out of MY way. It's not an issue of pride, or who's bigger than who, and I don't expect them to do it quickly like a dancer, but to come shoulder-to-shoulder with me, like we just met on the playground and they want to flex some kind of muscle in public is absolutely astounding and pathetic to me. I enjoy shopping at Compton's--it's only a few miles from my house, very convenient, and like I said the prices are reasonable. But it's like someone is not watching the employee-customer relationship close enough and allowing aborrant aggression in dissatissfied teens let loose on the common public. It's not that something is wrong with this picture, it's that someONE is wrong for hiring the wrong people.
