I did my internship there and it was a horrible experience. I didn't learn anything and they never had anything planned for me to do. I would ride with the Case Managers, as they complained about their job, to visit their consumers. It is a dangerous place to work considering you are not protected when you enter a consumer's home. One woman was raped and that led to my decision to not apply with that company. The pay is horrible for the amount of workload that is performed. The place is unprofessional with consumers walking around the company without any supervision. This company really needs to step there game up and maybe the turnover wouldn't be so high and the employees wouldn't steal from the company. Yes! One employee told me he would rig his mileage sheets so he can earn more money to take care of his daughter. Overall, the internship experience was horrible but I'm glad I did it because I learned to never work for this unprofessional, backwards, dangerous company. The only reason why I'm giving it two stars is because they are flexible with your work schedule.
Wow really? – I have worked in the mental health field for five years, and the last three been intense case management services. I think their hiring process is totally wack. Not only did the person interview me in jeans and a t-shirt, they made me fill out a paper application as well (which is totally 1980s considering they already had my resume) I really do not know what they were looking for, but obviously not someone with years of experience and trainings. It was really sketchy too...with hallways of empty desks. They did not even have the decency to call me.. I got a letter in the mail like 3 weeks later.
Good Start that's about it! – Pros: MHC allows for a flexible work schedule...
Cons: Throw new employees into orientation w/o a clue,
some people begin in the office then attend orientation, and have had an intro to the thousands of acronyms that are thrown around...... I went thru the 2weeks of orientation and didnt realize what "CRG" was until I got into the office. Presentations at "neo" are boring and lack introduction as to whats being discussed. They think you already know.
The "higher ups" are bitter older women who act as if it would kill them to crack a smile. RUDE
MHC would allow the most sane individual to waltz in claiming to have a mental health issue into services. the intake specialist lack the ability to tell a 24 year old mother that her 4 year does not have a mental health issue, but simply lacks affective parenting and discipline, and that this maybe the cause for temper tantrums that last 15mins but are over as soon as you allow them to have what they want........... MHC diagnosis this child with adhd, odd etc, and now mom wants them on meds. STUPID
Supervisors suck (mine did) extremely busy, never at work or late (there goes that flexible schedule kicking in) no time. FAKE looking for friends. if it wasnt for the "tier" i wouldnt know a thing! Co workers are rude.
Unsafe- "here's u a nextel for work purposes, with a 4hour battery life" call if you have an emergency" Not only are you a case manager, but also taxi driver.
6month orrientation phase..................... don't screw up!
Milege reimbursements, exclude the monthly oil changes!
Good JOB if you are fresh out of college from the Nashville area. Would not recommend relocating far for a case managment position, probaly wont last long! Hope to be leaving soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
horrible work conditions and environment – I worked for MHC for 2 1/2 months before deciding to hand in my resignation. Many of the consumers are disrespectful, unable to locate, and uncompliant. The caseloads are stressful and there is little to no remorse from the team members and supervisor. The employees and consumers share the same bathrooms, coffee pots, refrigerators, and car space. However, it is a great place to work if you don't mind putting the homeless, convicted felons, persons with no hygiene practices, and re-occurring A/D abusers in your vehicle and visiting them 2xs/mo. at their residence unprotected.
New Employment Orientation is 2wks.- 1wk longer b/c of the high turnover
You either will LOVE it or HATE it! #### On a good note, this job is a great starting point for experience. The dress code is cool- casual and comfortable. No shorts, tanks, plunging neck lines, flip flops, and thong sandles.
Many of the staff members are nice and helpful
You will learn a lot about the court system, crisis intervention/prevention, medical terminologies, diagnoses, and gain a plethora of knowledge of the social service agencies geared toward helping the mentally ill and homeless.
Hope this is helpful, good luck and God bless!
