What I would expect from a martial art school – I have trained at this school for nine years and in the time I have spent there it is only now that I can really look back and see how much I have gained from my experience at this school. In the beginning it was all about developing my martial skill, but as I progressed I began to ingrain the set of moral values that my parents have tried to drum into my head for years. I have been given numerous challenges to help improve myself and I have been instilled with a work ethic that helps me earn the goals I wish to achieve. This is not a school for those who like to get things without putting in the effort, but the confidence and joy I have had from persevering, through the challenges of gaining skill and learning how to teach those skills, will stick with me for life. What further amazes me is how much I pay to gain both martial skill and a mentor who has been a second father to me. I spent time looking into the prices at other martial arts schools with Olympic/international champion level instructors and many of these schools charge up to $300 a month just for one martial art while I can study four at Chu's for less than half the price.
Individually it cost $80 a month for Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Kendo and $100 a month for judo, but you can take them all for a price of $140 a month. The master of this school likes to take the time to help his students excel so the first couple of weeks each new student receives private instruction from him or a jr. instructor to help the new students get ready for class. Also, if you sign up for a black belt program even if your contract is only for a certain amount of years you are allowed up to four years extra to make sure you gain your black belt and the skill that comes with it. This has helped me out greatly since I went through several knee surgeries that kept me from getting my last promotion on time. All in all if you are looking for a place to learn martial arts, challenge yourself and build upon the values you were brought up with I would highly recommend joining in on the Chu's Martial Arts experience.
Best for discipline – I brought my child to Master Chu because I heard from my friend that he had sent his here in order to learn discipline. My kid has ADD and was having trouble in school but after he's been learning tae kwon do, he really has learned self-control. I really do recommend him!
Buyer Beware – He has no idea what morals or integrity is. He gave my son only 2 classes and not the kind of martial arts he signed up for. he took an initial $280 and when my son quit he took another $140 so far for nothing. He is a liar and cheater don't send your kids here to teach them anything. He gives nothing he promises!
BEWARE - HUGE RIPOFF! – MONEY hungry! Even if you move across the country he WILL NOT let you cancel your contract. You are stuck for years.
