sorry stuff – I have been to Dyers' once in my 59 years and it was the worst food I've ever had-hamburger or anything else. The meat was COLD as was the bun (it was COLD as if it was just taken out of the refrigerator) and the cheese on the hamburger was just as cold-

I called to complain and was offered a FREE hamburger meal. If I get sorry food when I

pay for it, what will I get when I get it free? No Dyers' for me and I'm sure Grandad is

turning over in his grave!!!!!!

Who knew 90-year-old grease made such great burgers? This diner cooks food the old-fashioned way. – The Scene
Neon lights brighten this one-room diner, highlighting the chrome bar and the green and red color scheme. Patrons admire pictures of old Memphis and the great view of bustling Beale Street.

The Food
Dyer's uses the same grease that Elmer Dyer (the original owner) used to cook his burgers back in 1912. This ultra-resourceful use of bacon grease--and the savory burgers it helps to create--has turned Dyer's into an urban legend. The patties are thin, and you can order a single, double or triple burger along with one, two or three slices of cheese. Dressed with mustard, onion and pickles, the burgers practically melt in your mouth. Dyer's also serves chicken sandwiches, ribs, hot wings, hot dogs, red beans and rice, and nachos.

OVERRATED!!! – The hype is certainly greater than the actual product. I stopped in to see what the hubbub was all about with their burger. Thin, plain burgers was the result. You can get a better (and less expensive) burger at Rallys or Sonic than here.

Great memories – of the original shack on Cleveland, with the old man behind the counter. Used to go there when a student at Rhodes with Robert Nighthawk II for a double-double and a beer. Often you would meet folks like Professor Tanaka and Tojo Yamamoto eating there before hitting the road to a Pro Wrasslin event. The old man would always want to "dip" your burger, meaning that if you didn't quickly say no your constructed grease burger would get dunked into the grease vat bun and all. That was too hardcore for me, but at the time these were the best burgers on earth. When I get back to Memphis I'll have to check it out.

new, nohassle Dyers – I go To the new Dyers in Bartlett,Tn. Although a big deal about moving the "old" grease under armed guards with an escort to the new Dyers was good advertisement, I was told (by the powers to be) that it was only for show and that the grease is not the original because the Memphis Board of Health does not go along with the ancient grease idea. It is still by far the best of the best in hamburgers.

GREEEASY BUT GOOOOD!!! – I've eaten at Dyer's in Bartlett for years. You can't buy a better burger anywhere else... hands down!
