Good Food but Horrible Service. The food was excellent but the service is the worst I have seen, especially for a fine dining establishment. I got better service last night at a local chain restaurant. We sat down for 20 minutes before anyone came up to us to say anything. Finally when the server got there, his exact first words were "What do you want to order for dinner?". Hell...we haven't even ordered our drinks yet!

overall good experience, happy to say. Jarrett's is close to our home in Germantown which is attractive

The food is at least thoughtful- (we had a very disappointment experience or two at EQUESTIRA RESTAURANT AND LOUNGE very near our home)

Service was efficient but not outstanding

Our fish dish was perfectly cooked, and tasted very fresh

Certainly better than MOST. Food is Fresh

Food is innovative, but not trendy

Service is generally good..

Bar area a little small

Demeanor at bar conflicts with a rather upscale experience...

Best fish anywhere. Although this spot wasn' known for business groups before, they have added several private rooms we found to be higher quality dining than any other venue in town!

Give yourself a hand Memphis !. A sincere and quality effort in a town hardly known for anything other than very lousy Mexican/BBQ, and chain stuff. I would recommend this place, they continue to try hard and most times they are successful, they even do a good job with a flown-in crusted grouper from FL. This town needs to take a lesson from this chef....second thought, nay...most wouldn't even listen, a few would, but most would not even know what this chef is talking about ! Go and enjoy

A Classy Place that Doesn't Try Too Hard. I have a sentimental attachment to Jarrett's (the man who is now my husband brought me here on our second date), but it is the food and the service that keeps us coming back. Inconspicuously located in a "strip-mall", Jarrett's is what it is -- a sexy, inviting place to have a meal that is subtly intriguing without being over the top--and that is hard to come by in Memphis these days with the advent of places like Wally Joe, which can appear pretentious and mediocre because the chef tries too hard. Even to a native New Englander who has lived on both coasts, like myself, the seafood and other fish are always exquisite at Jarrett's. The Crustacean Cocktail appetizer is fabulous. Don't miss it!

French influence and Southern hospitality make this family-run restaurant a local favorite.. The Scene
Chef Richard Farmer and his wife Barbara own and operate Jarrett's, the acclaimed East Memphis restaurant named after their son. The bar is a great place to have a glass of wine or a pre-dinner cocktail, but if you need help deciding, Jarrett's also offers periodic wine and martini tastings.

The Food
French influences abound in Chef Farmer's cooking, but with imagination and variety like this it's difficult to confine him to one cuisine. He has a way with seafood, so try the prawns or fish on special when you go. Appetizers include smoked trout ravioli and Arkansas caviar, while entrees vary from beef with mushrooms and Madeira sauce to grilled tuna with mango-jalapeno salsa.

Dish to Die For
Chef Farmer's golden-crisp Gulf crab cakes are truly mouthwatering.

Upscale, not off the scale!. In a sea of unsophisticated, "Chilli's-like" taste in Memphis, JARRETT'S understands how to concentrate on food, and service. Not pretentious, but favorful, upscale blend of American/CA and Continental. Refreshing. Certainly head and shoulders above other restaurants like "Equestria". Unfortunately it is outnumbered by restaurants catering to the mass of suburban east-Memphians who seem to want the image of "affluence" but can't afford to eat anything out but BBQ, bad Chinese, nachos, but pay $8.00 for "a salad at Houston's"...This city needs education and exposure..Jarrett's at least is an enormous breath of "outside air". I would recommend it ******
