December, 2913, Owner would not give name over telephone. I have receipt. They "lost" the antique clock in their possession for repair. Ownership of this established business changed five years ago---do not use their services unless you want to "donate" your merchandise to Fred or Rachel. My attorney is handling my loss.
August 2012, Mr. Fred Bartholomew and his company - Promenade Clocks & Gifts, receives a grade of “F” on his Report Card for their failure to provide satisfactory services on my gold dress watch in the following categories: Service Work, Customer service, Professionalism, Expertise, Quality Control, and Customer Satisfaction. In addition to their disreputable service I did not receive an itemized receipt, written warranty, or formal appraisal as promised. My request for a refund for services not performed was denied. A total breach of promise and trustworthiness is what you can expect from Mr. Bartholomew and his company - save yourself time and money, give your business to a respectable, honest business owner - NOT Promenade Clocks & Gifts and Fred Bartholomew!
Worst Experience Ever!! – I made the mistake of going to this place to get my Gucci watch cleaned and the battery changed. First of all I walked in after 3 pm to find the the two people in the shop sitting in the open office eating. Neither immediately got up to see what I wanted. After standing at the counter for a few minutes, the female came to the counter. I told her what I needed and she called the guy from the back, I guess there is a workroom back there, She then went back into the office, got her purse and walked out of the shop telling me that someone would be with me. The guy in the office kept eating for a while and then came out to the counter when the repairman arrived from the back room. He asked the repairman how much it would cost to clean my watch, which I thought was strange from the beginning, and the guy told him $65. I said ok and the guy from the office began to "explain" to me that even though this was a "Guicci" watch most of the time they had "plastic" parts and were not that good. Anyway, I informed him that this in fact "was not" a knockoff. If he couldn't tell the difference between an authentic Guicci and a plastic watch, I didn't want him toughing it. The repairman reassured him that it was authentic and I left my watch for the needed cleaning. Two days later the female person telephoned me that my watch was ready. I told her that I would be in that afternoon to get the watch and thanked her. When I arrived at the shop the woman was on the phone and did not even acknowledge my presence for almost 10 minutes when I took my credit card out and placed it in front of her. She pulled the tag with only my name and the watch name on it and wrote $70.36 on it and shoved it to me. I asked her to write on the ticked what had been done to my watch and she immediately frowned up and looked at me without saying anything. I told her that it would be nice to know what was done. She then called the repairman and asked what he had done to the watch. She then wrote "COA", barely legible. I asked what that was and she told me that that was the way they wrote the description of Cleaning, Oiling and Adjusting. I told her that she needed to write this so I could understand. I had no way of knowing what that was and neither would anyone else. She became more upset and said that was what it was. I told her that was fine. She didn't need to write anything. Just give me my receipt and credit card. Evidently I was not the kind of person that was welcomed in their shop since I was questioned about the authenticity of my watch and whether or not the antique clocks I asked about having checked and cleaned were real antiques or not by the same guy that was questioning the watch. I told her that they evidently had their people confused. I went in there as a legitimate customer and was treated worse than I have ever been treated in an establishment. They are the most unprofessional, rude and unknowledgeable people I have seen in the recent past. They dress and looked like they were cleaning the yard or garage and I would not want to have anyone like that in my place of business. In the 35+ years of my being an accountant and dealing with people, I would never have people like this attempting to serve customers. I probably would have made a purchase to add to my antique clock collection if there had been any resemblance of customer service/concern. I imagine that only certain types of people are welcomed into this establishment and I must not be in that group. I feel for anyone that make the mistake of trying to get professional service and any pleasant treatment at "Promenade Clocks & Gifts" at 300 w. Coit in Richardson.
