One of my favorites – TraMontana has been one of my favorite places to go since my husband & I moved to the Dallas area. We feel fortunate to has discovered it, as It's tucked away in it's own little nook. I would say it's an innovative use of a small space, and owners did a great job of making it cozy. I didn't expect to be comfortable enough to stay the 2+ hours we stayed there during our first visit, but shortly after the friendliness of the staff and the soft candlelight everywhere begins to take it's toll, you start to feel right at home. All entrees are an experience in themselves, but for the real treat - get a souffle! They do take 45 minutes to prepare, so when your server asks you halfway through your meal if you would like dessert, be prepared to give your choice!

A Hidden Treasure – I remember when TraMontana first opened and I had dinner there shortly after. I have eaten there several times and have always had a quality experience.

Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef serves up inventive French-New American menu – The Scene
Colorful French murals from turn-of-the-20th-century advertisements stretch across the back wall of this North Dallas location, a romantic hybrid of elegant dining and bistro atmosphere. The low-lit main room has a knotty pine tongue-in-groove ceiling and seats a cozy 20 tables, with a back room available for larger parties. Service is exceptionally accommodating.

The Food
Chef and owner James Neel serves with a generous hand, from abundant salad accoutrements like tangy goat cheese and juicy pears to generous cuts of meat and seafood. Crab cake appetizer has large chunks of steaming crab meat and is fried crisp. Creamy, heavy lobster risotto is off-the-charts rich, served with pan-roasted sea bass. The marriage of a goat cheese-crusted chicken breast with tart cherry sauce is culinary brilliance. A Grand Marnier souffle rises an impressive three inches above its ceramic ramekin and is served with tart raspberry and creme anglaise sauces.
