Dresses are really EXpensive and like 100 years old. Then you go for alterations and the persons are really rude. Tina was so rude and mean to me!!! I might just be a senior in high school, but there's no reason for Tina to have been so rude to me. I went in after school last week to pick up my dress and the alterations weren't done right. My mom paid over $100 for the alterations and excuse me if I wanted my dress perfect since Tina was the one to tell me it would be perfect. As I said, expensive store, but I did find a dress and paid alot for it. Then paid alot for the alterations only to be treated like Tina was doing something for me for free...when I paid alot for the alterations as well AND got Tina's rude service on top of it. Save yourself and go elsewhere where people are happy and good.

Don't use Alterations Services! We drove to Dallas from Tulsa for my daughter to shop for her senior prom dress. We went all over Dallas and she found her perfect dress at Whatchamacallit. Even though our salesperson, Althea, wasn't the most pleasant or attentive person, I agreed to buy my daughter the dress she wanted the most. We then were taken to the alterations room. I thought the looking through all those dresses, then trying on so many dresses and dealing with a decision to spend that much money were reasons to make anyone dizzy, BUT when we got to the alterations part, I've never been so disturbed. A man in alterations named Danny seemed as though he was dazed and confused. He began the fitting for my daughter and I swear he didn't know what he was doing. Another person walked up who I understood was his mother, Tina, and she told my daughter she would put a magic stitch to help the gaping on the sides. I asked Tina what's a magic stitch and she said it will help the dress. When the dress was picked up and brought to us, the alterations were terrible, terrible, terrible!!! The hem was uneven, the lining was longer than the hem and not finished, the gap where this magic stitch was to help was too tight and it was very gathering when it should have been smooth. I can't believe it. I had to take it to someone who is attempting to repair the damage. I'm happy my daughter found her dress, I hope I can have it repaired and I'm happy it's her senior year so I don't have to deal with this kind of stress anymore. Strongly recommend if you buy a dress at this place, then save yourself the stress and take some place else for alterations.

TERRIBLE alteration services. They don't know what they're doing. They nearly ruined my dress. The alterations to my dress were wrong. Danny and Tina were very, very unprofessional and treated me like I was wronging them. Completely rude people.

Don't have your dress altered by Tina located inside the store. My daughter brought her dress home after Tina completed the alterations and I could see she was upset. The alterations were horrible. The hem wasn't straight, it was too tight in the mid section and actually had an oil stain. The bust on the side had stitching that was totally visible that Tina told my daughter was good because it was what Tina called Magic Stitch. This magic stitch looks terrible. I spent almost $500 for a dress that has been ruined because of Tina's alterations. I'm telling you, don't use the alterations services inside the store. As expensive as these dresses are, I can't believe the store has such terrible alteration services.

Prices too High, Undocumented Workers & Terrible Alterations – Don't shop at this store. The prices for the dresses are too high for the quality...just go down the street to Terry Costa. There are undocumented workers working at this store including an older salesperson and a young woman in the alterations department. When I spoke to a salesperson about why the undocumented hispanic lady in the alterations department would work in what are sweat shop conditions, she told me she couldn't work elsewhere because she was illegal. It's sad really because the two people who are in charge of alterations are completely incompetent and are completely taking advantage of this poor girl's situation. Should I had bothered to actually purchase the overpriced dress I was considering, I MOST certainly would have not used their alterations department. The lady fitting my hem was using tailors chalk and telling me I look like a Miss America. Someone must explain to this woman that the use of tailors chalk on such overpriced dresses is a no no. Also, while I was looking in the mirror to decide if I should buy this overpriced dress, there were problems with other customers behind me concerning their alterations. Since Thursday, I have spoken to friends who have also told me horror stories of their experience at this store. Don't bother wasting your time here. They obviously believe it necessary to have to resort to such unprofessional and illegal means to make a buck.

Price switched – Horrible experience with questionable legality.

We visited on Feb. 20 and my daughter selected a prom dress and had it fitted onsite for alterations. Upon payment, the gown price was changed from $199 to $479.

While our particular gown was missing a tag, gowns that were exactly the same style and color, and were hanging right next to our gown were priced $199. Since the gown in our size was also missing a few accessory pieces and had a hole (which they promised to repair for free), we didn't give any thought to the fact that the tag was gone too, because a teenager obviously had been too rough with it.

After trying on the dress twice and being fitted, we exited the shop for ten minutes to discuss the purchase and text photos to Dad. When we received his quick approval, we returned and went to pay at the counter. There we were informed of the new price.

I told the checkout person that the price was supposed to be $199. The sales clerk (Althea?) acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. I went back to get a couple of the other identical dresses to show her they were marked $199, but all price tags on the affected gowns had been removed.

She announced she could sell it for $459. When I insisted that they sell it for the previous price, she asked if I had "made a tag". (At the time, I did not understand what she was asking, but she repeated the question several times.)

Then the owner/manager (who we thought was someone's dad because he was wearing a t-shirt about fishing and shorts) told us that the gowns had been mismarked and he couldn't sell it for that price.

He followed us to the front door, where he loudly confronted us about how any time prices are wrong, you have to pay what the merchant intended to charge, not what the actual sticker said. I told him that my experience was that merchants honor their pricing. He created a scene by continuing to talk while we were trying to leave. I would have appreciated it if he had invited us to his office - if he has one - to discuss the situation calmly. But he didn't.

We had no idea that the dresses were mismarked, but the only reason we were willing to buy a dress in such poor condition was because it was priced so reasonably, and because they promised to repair the minor damage. We weren't trying to swindle anyone, but left with our time having been wasted and very disappointed.

I would not recommend this business to anyone.

Rude! – Went there to try on wedding dresses and was told that I could try them on only if I was interested in buying and actually getting married. That is not the way to address a new customer. I said of course and proceeded to try on an expensive dress and then left as the comment was brewing on my mind. Will never ever go there again. The comments below about rudeness need to be taken seriously. Yes, they have a great inventory but I would like to be treated like an important customer when trying to find my dream dress for one of the most important days of my life. No one gets my money if I'm not treated properly.

Thumbs UP!!! – Love the store....and re: susie's post, I am so glad that they don't allow men to try on dresses along side my daughter! Guess I'm a little 1950s'ish (as the poster mentioned)...but that's fine with me! The salespeople were very helpful...we were trying to stay within a $600 budget for prom...and we found a gorgeous dress. The only down side to the store is the return policy.

Found my homecoming dress! – I went everywhere...literally everywhere and could not find a dress for my homecoming! I went to Dillard's, Nordstrom, AND Terry Costa..NOTHING..everything looks the same and there was nothing original. Then my mom told me to go to Whatchmacallit...I found the perfect dress....they had so many! The girl, Courtney, helped me and totally got that i wanted something that didn't look like every other dress out there. Didn't hurt that they have a really cute blonde guy at the counter ;)

Very impressed with this store! – I went to the Watchamacallit in Dallas and it was a GREAT experience. It was extremely organized and everyone there was very helpful in every way possible. As soon as I went into the store the owner came up and talked to me about my prom and seemed genuinely interested. Then he immediately got someone to help me and get me whatever I needed. The girl that was helping me, I think her name was Christie or Crystal, went above and beyond to help me. She was constantly bringing me cute dresses to try on while I was trying on my others. She even brought me shoes to try on with the dresses. It was wonderful, I didn't even have to leave my dressing room once to walk around and search for dresses. She also gave me her honest opinion on what she thought about the dress and was very sweet. This is where I ended up buying my dress and I love it.

The only thing is that it IS a tad bit pricey, but there are lots of stores that are even pricier. And the dresses are extremely cute and unique, so it's worth it. Another thing I really liked was that the girl helping me was completely understanding if I didn't want to buy something because of it's price. She showed me some earrings and shoes that were extremely cute, but too far out of my budget price so I told her I couldn't get them. Right away, she said that's totally fine and told me of some other places I could find cheaper things that are just as cute.

Overall, I was very impressed with the store and the people working there. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
