extremely disappointing – Our first visit to Uncle Julio's Addison location, and we will absolutely not be going back. We were sat immediately, but the service was beyond terrible. Our order was incorrect, and only one meal came to the table. After about 10 minutes our waiter came by to ask how things were going, at which time we pointed out that we were missing half of our order. His response was "Oh I figured that." No apology what so ever. No acknowledgment that things were not going well for us. The manager on the floor never once stopped by. We specifically ordered our enchiladas without onions, they of course did come with onions when the plate arrived. We paid and left, and will not be returning.
Good tex-mex. Not low-carb friendly. – We had a team lunch recently with a group of 6 people. We were all happy with our order except for our boss is on a strictly diet of protein and good carbs. (There were only a few choices for her and she didn't want the side salad). Our waiter offered to make a half order of the grilled veggies but the manager(?) later came back and said all they had was side salad. The staff tried their best but compared to other chain restaurant that had already caught up to the trend (like Macaroni Grill) this was a good lesson for us.
Be prepared to wait on Friday (at lunchtime) especially if you have a large group of people (more than 10).
We also hang out here for happy hour. The patio is quite nice.
Festive atmosphere and Mexican fare make this casual chain a favorite for families and young professionals. – In Short
The bright, spacious room is all greens, reds and yellows, with painted terra-cotta walls covered with an assortment of tchotchkes. The menu features plates of chicken tamales, enchiladas with sour cream sauce, and jumbo shrmp stuffed with Jack cheese and jalapenos, wrapped in bacon and grilled. Desserts include the cajeta: a large ball of vanilla ice cream rolled in toasted coconut and pecans.
almost a tradition – One of the first kitchy mexican restaurants in the tradition of the old standby Mercado Juarez, the food is now virtually parallel to the mercado in quality and presentation. Service is a bit slower when the waitstaff gets in the weeds, but is overall unhurried. Good menu variety with all your Tex-Mex favs. They'll even make shrimp nachos for me if I ask (which last time I looked, is not on the menu). The parking lot's always full.
