Shuck N Jive is a horrible experience – My wife and I have been to the Richardson location 7-8 times but after today, we will never go to any location. After sitting down, our drink orders were immediately filled but unfortunately the experience was horrible after that. Our original waitress never came back to take our order and we had to order through a waitress attending a different table. After taking our order, the waitress was beyond rude and became verbally abusive to my wife. We paid for 3 total beers that we ordered, only having drank 2 of the beers before we were verbally assaulted, left immediately and will never return. Good luck maintaining your business with a rude and confrontational wait staff.
If you are looking for good cajun food, look no further – Shuck N Jive is the real deal, or at least this location is. Just feels like it should all the way around. Very comfortable, and really nice people, but let's be honest the good cajun food is why you go and they don't disappoint. I love crawfish!
I agree – This is a divey kind of place which is why we like it. But the servers are cool and the place is relaxed....a nice break from the rest of Dallas. Good beer drinking place with good food.
Fun Fun Fun! – I always have a good time when we go, and the food is sooo good. Good place for a beer & the game!!
Surprisingly great food - especially late night – It may look a little shabby at first glance, but Shuck N Jive is well worth a stop. Great drink specials, prime viewing for sports (huge project screen can be seen from any seat in the place), and fantastic New Orleans-inspired food. Each location has a different menu, but all of it is good. I recommend the crab and artichoke dip or the spicy cheese fries for appetizers, and any of the pastas or poboys for an entree.
The crowd can be a little rough sometimes, so I would not recommend bringing the little ones. Most patrons however are really nice regulars - where everybody knows everybody. Nice, attentive staff without any extra "flair".
User review by cwh0008 – Shuck N Jive has never let me down. The atmosphere is great. The service is always good, not to mention the waitstaff isn't hard on the eyes. The big screen makes it one of the best places to catch the game in North Dallas. The drink specials and many menu options makes it an easy choice when a big group needs a place to go.
Shuck N JIve-Very Authentic New Orleans Food – This place isn't for everyone. If your looking for a Friday's or a Bennigan's don't go there. But if your looking for a non chain mom & pop style restaurant with original food then this is the place to go. The food we ordered was great. We had Boudin sausage and crab claws for an appitizer. My wife had some of the best crawfish she's ever had and I had the Blackened Chicken Pasta that was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly (I think her name was Mindy) All in all we had a great time!
fun, and diverse.. – i go to shuck n jive on rosemeade often, i work very broad hours and it is difficult to find a place to go for good food, and friendly service when i get off of work and want to unwind from my day. The food is always fresh, and i have a wide range of choices. i think that shuck n jive is a good restaurant for all types of people, it is known for it's cajun style but if you don't eat seafood they have great burgers ect.. The staff is fun, friendly and comforting.. it's my home away from home!!! i HIGHLY recomend shuck..
The single WORST ding experience EVER! – My girlfriend and I drove from Denton to get some crawfish. We waited at the front for about 5 minutes to be seated. No sign saying "Seat Yourself" or anything was there. So we sat down on our own. We waited another 10 minutes and I had to go to the bar to ask for some service. The waitress finally came, asked us for our drink order. I got the work "Coke" out... and she just turned and walked away. We were dumbfounded by this rude act. We did nothing to this person and she just walked away. HORRIBLE service.
Cajun fare, fresh oysters and a decidedly N'awlins vibe pack in the Carnival crowd and more. – In Short
It sure looks like New Orleans: Fun-loving crowd? Check. Balcony straight out of Bourbon Street? Check. Chill and friendly staff? Double check. The seafood gumbo stands out with a spicy roux. The red beans and rice fly off the menu. A simple dish, but when well-seasoned, it excels. Beautifully blackened catfish livens up a po'boy or enhances a pasta dish. Etouffee, jambalaya and a myriad of shrimp dishes round out the spicy and filling menu.
