Substandard Product and No Customer Service – They neeeever respond to calls and always changes their policy on the fly. There is no good faith customer service. Talking to their employee is like a moving target and they kick you like a ball from one person to another. They lie to you like they are trained or like having their daily meal when it comes to deal with customer who has legit questions and concerns.
Run the other way...They have closed down one store in Dallas. Now you wonder how long these thieves will stay in business.
Avoid like the plague - Suing to get my money back – Mike's Landscape arm, bid to do the landscape on my new house. They demanded a $14,000 deposit. When we discovered that the scope of the job was different from what was represented and that we were paying almost twice retail price for the plants (plus installation), we cancelled the contract. Mike has offered to give us $7000 back, and no landscaping work was ever done at the house.
In my opinion, this guy is the reason they wrote the Deceptve Trade Practices Law (DPTA).

Excellent Service – I had a wonderful time at Mike's while putting together a landscape project for my front yard and my questions were answered promptly with good advice when I needed it. I will certainly be going back to Mike's in the future and would recommend anyone else to give them a try.
Bad Products. Bad Service. Unresponsive Owner. – I spent $420 at Mike's Garden Center on March 9th, 2007. The two Italian Cypresses I purchased for $135 apiece ended up being infected with Bagworms and died within three months of planting. When contacted, the managers at the Southlake store were flippant and implied the bagworm infestation must have taken place after my purchase. Research of bagworms shows their mating season is in the fall and they hatch in the spring...meaning the infestation had to have happened prior to my purchase on March 9th. I made numerous efforts to contact the owner Mike Cook and he never bothered to respond to my phone calls (even after I spoke with 9 separate members of his staff) nor reply to the 5 e-mails I sent directly to him. If you do not know what a bagworm is or would like to see how your experience with Mike's Garden Center is likely to end...Go to Youtube and search for Mikes Garden Center - Southlake Texas video posted by TLSmetty. Do not shop at Mike's Garden Center.
