Real, old-style, Fort Worth, Tex-Mex – This place is an old-style Mexican restaurant, one where the decor is from yesteryear and so is the food. And that's a GOOD thing! My wife and I grew up with Tex-Mex and when we tried the enchiladas, beans, rice and gaucamole, we were instantly fans for life. We had a really good feeling about the place when we first walked through the door and the smell of chili, onions, and freshly griddled tortillas smacked us upside the head and started the drooling.

Their enchiladas are made of corn tortillas, rolled around some yellow cheese and onions, then topped with chile con carne (beef chili), a littel more cheese and put on a plate with EXCELLENT refritos (refried pinto beans) and some of the best Mexican (NOT SPANISH) rice around, then they pass it under the broiler and bring it to you bubbling hot. Man, talk about heaven-on-earth... this has got to be about as close as you can get. Their guacamole is creamy, made with fresh Hass avocados, grated onion, and not much else aside from some salt to season it. Their tortillas, free with your meal, are so tasty that we have never left one on the table... ever. The chips and hot sauce they start you out with, free again, are some of the best around -- light, crispy, un-greasy chips with a moderately spicy tomato-based hot sauce just can't be beat.

This is not a high-end place, it's VERY casual, but go there during the week and you'll see all kinds of people. There will be local businessmen in suits, police officers, middle-aged couples like my wife and I, Hispanic families, old folks, you name it, they eat here. Why do so many people dine here year-after-year, Excellent service, excellent food, great prices and that old-style Fort Worth charm.
