This super cute market/cafe concept in the Rice Village is casual and family friendly. Stepping inside feels like you're in an Italian deli -- with house-made pastas, cured meats, cheeses in cold cases, as well as shelves of dry and canned goods. The seating is comfortable and quaint -- think red-gingham tablecloths, and no-nonsense diner-type stoneware plates. The crawfish ravioli is excellent, as are the wood fired pizzas. The fantastic patio fills up on sunny days and cool evenings as well.

Great Place - What a Surprise! – We tried D'Amico's for the first time tonight. The crab fingers were the best I've ever had - they were in a superb garlicky broth. The walnut and wild mushroom tortillini was also fantastic. The service was quick and pleasant. Our family will be going back soon!

Appalling attitude - don't go. – I have to say I was astonished at the attitude from the owner of this restaurant, considering it's so highly regarded.

After a group meal there was a mix up in paying the bill (an insignificant 200dollars), the restaurant's mistake not the diners.

The response from the owner was to bully the lady who was celebrating her WEDDING NIGHT to tears over the phone!

Needless to say this has left a very bitter after taste with everyone celebrating what should have been one of the happiest days of someone's life.

SUMMARY: go somewhere else; you'll end up with a far more enjoyable experience.

Good Food - Great People Watching – It's a great place to enjoy the spring and fall evenings. Service can be slow at times. Food is always good. Wine reasonable. Bread could be upgraded. Seafood dishes are always fresh. I just hate the expanded wire table tops!!! A plastic table cloth would improve things greatly.

Excellent place. Best place in town for lunch. Lunch is cheap, fast, and always different, or the same, you choose. Soups are best in town. Great atmosphere.

Wonderful – Best itilian food in Houston and surrounding areas. My son and I drive 75 miles just to eat at D'Amico's. We LOVE the food and the service we receive there.

A gem! – This is a Rice Village favorite for our family. We love the fresh and tasty pasta dishes (especially the gnocci and the walnut-mushroom tortellini), the excellent, made-to-order pizzas, and side dishes like the artichoke casserole and garlic bread. We dine-in often, but also like their take-out option. Prices are very reasonable; portions are generous without being overwhelming; service is always friendly and efficient. I only wish D'Amico's had longer weekend hours (esp. for lunch) and more parking.

A Village jewel – This is one of our favorite places inside the loop. The food is always prepared freshly and borders on outstanding every time we go. The deli/grocery style decor took some getting used to but now it feels like we are in our favorite aunt's kitchen. The fish dishes are fresh and cooked to perfection and the pasta dishes are equally great.

wonderful wonderful – I was introduced to this restaurant about four years ago by a friend. The salad is good. The atmosphere is mom and pop type. My favorite dish is no longer on the menu, but can be ordered anyway - chicken cuscinetti. This is a chicken breast stuffed with mozerella and prosciutto and coveres with a tomato marsala sauce. Their shrimp bisque is phenomenal, but it is rarely available (the restaurant changes the soup every day). This place does not have much seating room, so do not go with large groups. this place gets busy on the weekends, so prepare to wait. Either that or go early.

Fresh and relaxed Italian, good price. – Creative, fresh tasting "real Italian" food. The patio is a pleasant place to sit on a nice day and watch the Rice-ites and medical upper crust do their business around Rice Village.

Not the usual predictable Italian fare, this is much more authentic, in a relaxed "market" atmosphere. You can tell they take pride in their cooking. The crawfish Ravioli with a creamy light red sauce was fantastic. Also good was the meat lasagna. Each was $7 for lunch including a mixed or Caesar salad and bread. Dinners run around $12 for pastas to $18 for seafood specials.

You really notice the freshness of the pasta, and can get special prepared refrigerated pastas and Italian meats to go. Friendly and efficient service. One of our new favorites.

Best in Rice Village – This is absolutely my favorite restaurant in Rice Village. If the weather is nice call ahead for a table outside.
