Don't ever eat here – One of my worst experiences eating out in this area of Houston. The food was average above Chinatown restaurants food. My biggest problem about this restaurant is because one water boy in particular. I came in to eat with my wife and there was this Hispanic guy that was flirting and kept trying to hit on my wife. My wife got really annoyed and told him we don't need your service at our table. He made this look that I knew he understood what my wife was saying and he said something in Spanish, it sounded very vulgar. I heard one of the waiters call him by name, I think it was Hulio, not sure if I spell that right. My wife and I will never go back here again.

Yay for Chinese! – Great ambiance.

Lance is the best waiter there, ask for him!!

Most of the dishes I have tried are definitely a super notch higher than other Chinese restaurants I have tried.

Love the wonton soup. Bo luc Lac is my friends absolute favorite.

Good but not Great – I used to love Kams, it was my favorite chinese restaurant.

The Veggie rolls are yummy, and won ton soup is great.

I love the Orange Beef, probably the best in the city.

My favorite food is General Tso's Chicken and they used to make the best in the city. Until they changed owners and now make it with dark meat. It's now greasy. :(

This makes me not want to eat at kams any longer.

The waiters are all over the place...stick to a group of tables. It seems so unorganized. You can be smoothered by them or they don't check on you for a long time. Again I associate this with new ownership, because Kams has not always been this way.

Let's look at quality not quantity!

5 stars? Let's be honest here. – Frequently I hang out/dine out in Montrose. Its a nice part of town. I have always driven by Kam's and thought that it looked like a classic Chinese restaurant worth trying. A few days ago I took my mind up on this offer.

It was lunch time and the first problem was that we had trouble parking. The parking lot in the back is also shared with a small apartment complex. So one way in is the same way out. We waited, and waited for the cars to get out.. Then we got in.

At first glance the place looks comfortable and welcoming as a restaurant. Our waitress was the same person who seated us. She brought me my Dr. Pepper in a can and we ordered the crab roll appetizers. They were excellent.

The problems started when the server began sitting at the table with another waiter or the manager. We would be there needing things and we were just left there. I ordered the sesame chicken. At first it tasted good. The fried rice wasn't great, but is Chinese fried rice ever great?

After eating a bit more of it, I noticed that the batter was very chewy and over fried. My mom had the chow mein and commented on how she did not enjoy it. The Won Ton soup was excellent and they hand you a huge tub of fortune cookies to take from.

It was a good value for lunch. Large portions, soup, vegetable roll, and meal included for $6.95. But I do not think I will be back.

As the old adage goes, looks can be deceiving.

Favorite Chinese Restaurant in the City – I love Chinese and have tried at least five other Chinese restaurants in Houston even though I've only lived here a couple of months, and this place is by far the best. Fabulous dumplings - the best I've had anywhere and great orange beef (though I have to admit, I've the kung pao is a little lackluster). Service is really fantastic - great attitude, great manners, and very attentive.

Great chinese – Kam's is a perfect, casual yet intimate Chinese place with good service and good food. Their lunch specials are extremely well priced. I've always had good and friendly service there and think of it first when I think Chinese. The pork dumplings are some of the best I've had in Houston. The General Tso's chicken and Orange chicken are great! There is one kind of weird Indonesian curry dish with tofu that wasn't great, however everything else I've had has been fantastic. Great lunch specials and a great ambiance for dinner too.

I concur, excellent for lunch – I commend the management for the way lunch works here. Prompt seating, and a good specials menu. For a very reasonable price you get soup, a spring roll, and an entree with rice. There are many choices but choosing your lunch is a simple task. Generally, the soup and spring roll are out almost immediately after you order, with the entree arriving just on time. Nice place, fairly clean and quiet, yummy food with no MSG. I like the noodles, veggie fried rice, and most of the entree's i've tried. Overall, thumbs up, esp. for lunch!

LOVE this place. – This is one of my favorite places in houston. They have great, fairly inexpensive lunch specials that are perfect for a quick bite with friends. They staff is so friendly (the waiter knew me and remembered my order after my third visit!) and it's not a bad atmosphere for a chinese restaurant - especially at lunch when it's more crowded. Definately worth checking out!

GREAT VALUE! – This is great Chinese food for a great price! Lunch portions are filling and quite cheap! I had the garlic string beans which came with fried rice, and eggroll and wonton soup, which cost under $10 including tax and tip! There aren't many dine in places that you can get great tasting food at such a low price for lunch in Houston. I'm a big fan of the dumplings also - Pan Fried Pork Dumplings are awesome dipped in their homemade ginger sauce. I wish they would open up one in Katy - closer to home for me!
