Perfect setting for evening with friends – Please join Mickey Hobbs as he performs on the patio at Grappino di Nino on August 8, 15 and 22. Old school and smooth sounds. 6:30pm until 11pm.
Great Place – I went to Grappino Di Ninos for Valentine's dinner and my girlfriend and I both loved it. Even on a busy night, the service and atmosphere were fantastic. The small sized items are great to order a bunch of and sample/share and live music on the patio was fun as well. Great food, great service and an overall great place. We will definitely be going back.
I like Grappino's – Don't really understand the bad reviews I've read, I really enjoyed this place, the waiter was good the food is EXCELLENT, (bit over priced) but you have to pay for the location I think. The entertainment was great , Scott Sileo is very talented singer /guitar player. We stayed till he finished playing. I'm a terrible dancer but my girl likes to so I had to get out there and hop around in front of folks!
Other than the high prices it's perfect.
Horrible management – This place suuuuucks! Starting with the service and the load atmosphere. The manager seems not to care of what is going on. The servers take FOR EVER to come to your table. I dare to go twice, giving the doubt that maybe the first time was just bad luck... but, NO. The second time was almost twice as bad!! Again, the service is bad and the food WAY to expensive for what you get. This place suuuucks!
Great Date Place – I've been to Grappinos on four different occassions over the past four years and everytime I go I think, "why don't I come here more often?". The mood is great for a comfortable evening listening to music and enjoying a glass (or bottle) of wine with someone - be it friend, relative or date. It can get loud when the live band is playing, but conversation can still be had (just have to sit closer). I haven't had dinner/food here, so I can't comment on that, but the ambience is great.
very poor music and horrible customer service! – I am so dissapointed with this place! I went here on a thursday evening with my husband. I have never been so irritated in my life! I arrived at about 7:00 pm and walked up to the front and to my surprise had to put my name in for a long wait. That is not a problem but it is when there are at least 10 empty tables with dirty plates. The waiters were too lazy to clean the tables! The hostess told me it would be 20 min before I could be seated. I asked to speak to the manager to address the issue. He acted put out by having to come out and deal with a situation and was completely rude. Shortly after, I saw about five waiters cleaning off the tables. I was seated ten minutes later but failed to see my waiter for about another fifteen minutes after being sat. I ordered iced tea and some bread. That took forever.. I got my tea with my meal about 40 minutes later. I had to find my waiter everytime i needed a refill. Its also a five dollar charge to get an extra plate to share my entree. The food is good but not good enough to charge what they do. Oh yeah, if you want to keep the fancy titles, hire descent musicians. The music is horribly loud and irritating. Its great if you dont want to hear your date talk and listen to a really bad version of Travolta. Its always loud annoying male bands. I like female vocalists too.
I will never go there again.
Horrible service, barely ate anything for $80 – We sat at a table in a corner. The waitress barely noticed us and after 30 minutes, we still had no utensils, no bread, and no water. I got up and got the utensils myself. After we got the bread, finally, she didn't come back for 30 more minutes. We ordered our food and for $20 got 4 shrimp and 2 itsy bitsy pieces of meat. We were so irritated we decided to eat somewhere else after we left. Food tasty, but not worth the irritation.
Italian wine bar in Montrose for picturesque al frecso dining and live music. – In Short
Located behind Nino's, this cheerful Italian-themed bar is a popular stopping off point for couples on their way to a show or in the mood for outdoor dining. Inside, warm Tuscan-style décor and a large stand-up wood bar lead out to a beautiful, vine-shaded patio. The menu (served for lunch or dinner) specializes in small antipasto dishes like toasted ravioli, steamed mussels and cheese plate with roasted pears. Four-inch pizzas, pastas and chicken, veal and seafood entrees are also served.
it's gotten better... – we had a fantastic early evening experience here on a recent thursday...we were a party of three, sat on the patio, ordered a few small plates at a time and a bottle of wine, and loved it. we did have to summon a waiter each time we were ready to order more, but it felt somewhat european in pace, and we enjoyed not being bothered before we were ready. we thought the patio was the perfect place to enjoy houston spring weather. and the food was delicious--perhaps our only complaint was that portions were small, and we were not told, for example, that there were only two pieces of bruchetta to share among three. we would have appreciated the option to add a third piece for a small upcharge.
Incompetent Service – Setting: Patio with vine covered trellis, built on parking lot behind two other restaurants.
Atmosphere: live band playing soft listening music, Crowded and so loud you have to shout at your date to be heard. Definitely, not romantic!
Service: Practically nonexistent for the first 10-15 minutes, despite vigorous hand waving. My date, a real Italian, had to get up and beg a waitress to take our order!
Then a different waiter finally came to our table and incorrectly repeated those orders. Five minutes after correcting him, he came back wondering if we were going to have the entree size or the appetizer size. Twenty minutes later, we finally got our appetizers. (We decided against risking ordering an an entree.)
Food: Lasagna and pizzete were not bad actually.
Overall: Not worth it
