Great shop – The person who wrote the other review must have been having a really bad day. I've been to most every antique shop in the city and this is one of the best.

She has wonderful period pieces that are all in good condition, authentic and very fairly priced.

The decorative arts pieces are particularly affordable and the furniture is expensive because fine antique furniture is expensive but it is not overpriced. The prices in this shop are unbelievably fair to some places I can show you only a stones throw away.

It is obvious that Chairman has no eye for excellence, no taste for the simple beauty of English period furniture and no knowledge of the true value of these furnishings that the lady travels abroad to buy and have shipped back. As for Ms. Kelley, she was very polite and helpful --even though I came in at 15 minutes before closing. I saw several more pieces that I plan to return for -- fabulous collection.

Something tells me that there is another side to the story of this encounter -- it is my experience that, in most cases, people treat others pretty much in accord to how they have been treated -- especially someone who has been in business 30 years or so.

I highly recommend Sherry Kelley's Antiques -- fine antiques at a great value -- I will return -- often.

Don't bother – A friend of mine bought furniture from this place. He was from out of town and had to come back to Houston with a truck to pick it up. He called to let them know he would be down in 2 weekends, but the owner got sassy, and said he had to get it out right away, because there was another shipment coming in and she had no room to store his furniture. He sent me to pick it up. When I got there, there was noone shopping there, and the owner asked if she could help me. When I said I was there to pick up chairs, she immediately lost interest. She got them out of the back and put them near the front. She had informed the purchaser that they would be partially wrapped, but they were not. I asked that since she said they would be wrapped, could she at least provide us with some paper or something else with which to protect the chairs, and she said she didn't have anything (right), She then said with sarcasm - "I don't know how you would wrap a chair." Okay, so at this point I realized was was cheap, lazy and rude. I began taking the chairs to the vehicle myself. While she didn't offer to help (affirming her rudeness), she did, however, make the effort to shut the door behind us while we were still retrieving furniture from the building, I suppose in an effort to save her own air conditioning costs (so maybe she wasn't so lazy after all, when it came to her own bottom line). Before I left, I did check out some of the "antiques". While there was nothing really bad, there was nothing really special, but the items were overpriced. I noticed in one of the glass cases there was a pressed glass sherry container with a shot glass lid. This item looked identical to a gift I received from a friend - who bought it at a Hallmark shop. Ms. Kelley had it marked at $19.95. I had to chuckle. By the way, not one person visited or called the shop while we were there. You'd think maybe she would, at a minimum, be nicer to paying customers, especially in this economy.
