My Sister and I went to a Margie Beegle Sale this past Saturday, AND WILL NEVER RETURN TO ONE OF HER SALES EVER AGAIN. Jennifer, the cashier, is the most VILE, RUDE, IGNORANT "person" I have ever met. She shrieked at several customers (we should have walked out then) before berating my sister and I. Not only have I posted here, but also on several other review sites, KHOU, and Reddit. I hope everyone in the Houston area hears about this horrible woman.... Im pretty sure all the glowing reviews were posted by Jennifer...they all sound pretty similar, and I cant picture anyone ever calling this "person" Lovely...what a joke!
After waiting about forty minutes to get into the house, we browsed for about two hours. There was a very friendly cop who mentioned a sold table at the front near the register. Since we had quite a bit of possible purchases and large bags are not allowed in, we misunderstood that we could hold them at the front until we wanted to purchase them. There was not a sign that said "No take backs."
There are also many signs throughout the house that state items can not enter other rooms...they have to be put on the sold table. Never having been to any estate sales, we assumed that meant we could put stuff down and move on.
So we had a fine time browsing for two hours...then the last thirty minutes, we decided to keep ourselves in check and put back items that we didn't particularly want after all. The woman at the register (apparently named Jennifer and the company owner's daughter) asked what we were doing, and so we replied that we check on the items to see if they are collectible before purchasing. She then proceeded to raise her voice at us that "the sold table was that, sold, not thinking about. And many other people had wanted to purchase those items." We had misunderstood the cop and said as much. She then yelled for him to come over and asked him if he had "told these girls that they were special and could hold items at the front." He calmly said no, and we apologized for the misunderstanding. She then shouted that she would not allows us to purchase any items and ask us to leave and have a nice day, dripping with sarcasm.
There were many people in the room and all conversations stopped as she loudly berated us. When asked to leave we did so, but it was a humiliating experience that I do not wish on anyone. I understand that we misunderstood her rules, but shouting at us in front of others is not the way to go. She could have spoken to us as adults and gotten the same message across. I've never been so degraded!
I'm sorry about the wall of text, but I've never received this type of behavior at any business...I work retail and at any respectable company that I know of this would have been termination if a manager/associate talked to someone this way.
Yelp has a ton of one-star reviews on them and I wish we would have researched before attending the sale.
TL;DR: Margie Beegle Estate sales has the worst customer service. Prepared to be shouted at if you change your mind about an item.
My family went to an Estate Sale that this company was putting on over the weekend. While standing in line someone had called into ask a question about this sale. The person running this business answered the phone and told the person that they needed to come to the sale as she could not help them. The person I think asked again and the lady said "Sir, Are you on medication to where you can't undertand English" and again told the person that they needed to come in to see their sale and hung up on them. Lady!!! If you want to run a business you need to RESPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS! Every person in your line heard you be rude! I put my items down and left the Estate Sale as if you treat people this rude on the phone you don't need my business and I will NEVER come to any of your Estate Sales ever again. Your a VERY RUDE PERSON!
Every time I go to Margie Beegle sales, I end up walking away with some great stuff. The search through the house for something that interests me is what keeps me going to estate sales and Margie has some good stuff. I come with cash but if I didn't bring enough, they take credit cards too. I highly recommend their sales.
I used Margie Beegle Sales for an estate sale for a member of my family. The family really couldn't have been more satisfied with the results. They gave us an estimate on what they could get on the collection from their buyers and they exceeded they their highest quote. Truly a great company for estate liquidation.
I go to estate sales every week looking for resale. Some of the best products I have ever found have been from Margie's sales. I follow her rules and have happily been going back for years without incident. The first time I attended one of her sales, I put all of my stuff on the sold table in the front room without reading the signs above, on, and under the tables that said "all items sold" and then debated a item. It was very expensive but I read the sign and was told that I pulled it off the floor for over a hour at the beginning of the sale and had to buy it because everyone else who came for it lost the opportunity to buy it. I bought my whole pile without arguing and made a killing reselling it. I have been going back ever since.
I love going to estate sales in Houston and Margie's are some of the best. I have filled my house with estate sale decor and get compliments on the unique items on display all the time.
I go to Margie Beegle sales on weekends to look for interesting accents for my interior decorating company. Over the years, I have bought everything from stained glass windows to doors to sets of books to wood floors to tiles to bookends, needless to say, if it can be put in a house, I've bought it. I really enjoy going to the different houses every week and seeing how they have arranged all of the items to be both ascetically pleasing and convenient for shoppers. I highly recommend their sales.
I have been shopping at Margie Beegle Sales since I went to a estate sale near Port Arthur they had put on. There was loads of stuff at really good prices. I go into Houston from Port Arthur a couple times a month and when I do, I always stop off to see what kind of furniture or tools I can find that week. I enjoy the older solid wood furniture that actually took a craftsman to build and I can usually find something at one of their sales that interests me, if not in the house then in the garage with the tools. I follow all of their rules and have yet to have a problem with the staff. I have seen some people steal or break stuff and get kicked out, but that is life. If you read all the signs and handle yourself like a mature human being, you'll do fine and you will find a bargain.
I have been going to Margie Beegle sales every week since I was 17 years old. At 22, I still go to their sales on a weekly basis. As a customer of other estate sale companies in the Houston area as well, I can say that Margie Beegle is by far one of the best in Houston. Their prices are low and the merchandise is quality. I will keep going back as long as they are around.
Margie Beegle Sales are a fantastic bargain. I went to a sale last December where every item in the house was still in the package and was far better quality than what I would ever buy from the store. I went back every day of the sale and left with a full car every time. It was the best estate sale that I have ever been to and, since then, I have been and will continue to go to every sale that they have.
