Multiple visits for a sectional sofa set we wanted. There was a great post Thanksgiving sale, and we were pushed by sales guy to get in today to buy before sale was over. We wasted our day and shopped either venues to be sure we wanted it, and when we showed up, oops, it's on back order until late January. There are almost 50 orders for this one set that they haven't filled yet, but if we pay for it today it would show up eventually.

Product was nice, price was decent, but the service is just wrong. They wouldn't consider letting the floor model go because more suckers, err customers, might buy it and add their name to the backorders. They would rather walk a customer with cash in hand than sell a floor model they are very over booked on.

Really, in this day and age, who trusts anyone for a several thousand dollar purchase that will be at least two months out. And in this era of convenience why would I even consider it. And considering we were in there the day before wouldn't it have been nice for the sales person to check the stock before pushing us to come back and buy before sale was over?

Manager wouldn't even do us the courtesy of speaking directly to us. We went down the street and found a better deal. Needless to say we will never walk in there again.

Great furniture - don't buy protection – Star has some of the best furniture in the Houston area. However, as all companies do, they try to sell you for an extra few hundred dollars, the almighty protection plan. Beware, the protection plans are SCAMS designed with fine print loop holes, just to get more money out of you. The fine print loophole to get out of covering: you must report the damage within 5 days of the occurrence, or it will not be covered, or I guess you could lie.

Hypnotic Commercial! – I've been listening to the Star commercial jingle for so long that I now sing it daily. I even pause the commercial to check out the painter girl in one of the ads. I have got to meet that girl now! Anyone know her? Gotta get to Star, Gotta get to Star, Gotta get to Star! Never been there and I already have more furniture than I need. I'm hopeless!

"Gotta get to Star" – I'll never shop at Star furniture EVER because of the nails on chalkboard, agonizingly annoying, cheesy cheap new tv ad they're running. "Gotta get to Star, gotta get to Star...."

REALLY? Is that the best you can do. AND THEY RUN IT ALL THE FKING TIME IT HURTS MY EARS!

Please, somebody stoppa da pain!

Do Not Buy Matress From Star – I purchase 3 Restonic matresses from Star. They were $500 each. One of the matresses sagged in the middle. Called to get it looked at. The rep that came out changed my box spring. Again called them out, still sagging. The rep measure a 1 1/2" dip in the middle. Said I was going to get a new matress. Star said it had to have 1 3/4' dip to get new matress. Called them to come out again to test. They measure 1 3/4 dip in certain spots. Still they denied the claim stating there was a stain on the matress which voids the warranty. Don't waste your time or money.

Better Than Expected – We almost didn't go because of bad reviews, but we weren't finding anything we like at other places so we gave it a try. We went in late at night and saw EXACTLY what we wanted in about 15 minutes. The only problem is we were looking for a whole bedroom set and the only had clearance "as-is" pieces are we were told that set is no longer available anywhere. We left he store and went online to see if the set was available ANYWHERE. It was available but the pieces being sold at Star Furniture cost lest because of clearance. So we went back during the day and there was another person (MUCH more knowledgeable) and not only did he give us a discount for the clearance items, he also was able to order the rest of the set and saved us about $2000 included taxes and delivery. I haven't got the ordered items yet (should be 4-6 weeks) but the deal was great. I would recommend this place to someone who isn't sure what they want, but is looking for a deal.

Be prepared to be ripped off! – Bought a dining room set and 4 years later, the leg broke. No big deal, I will have it repaired. I then noticed this was broken because of a poor repair before I bought the furniture. They sold me a broken chair. This was never disclosed to me and when I called to speak to someone about it, the customer service rep was very cold and quoted the one-year return policy. I spoke to a manager at the store I bought it from and they referred me to customer service. I explained my poor service experience through them and she had customer service contact me. They asked for pictures of the broken chair. I sent them and they said I broke the chair and had it repaired and it broke again. Had this been the case, how was I so adept to match the stain perfectly that leeched into the wood at the sight of the break? Why would I call them after a second break? It would have taken them all of 15 minutes and maybe $100 to repair the chair, but they chose to accuse me of lying to them. I have spent $10,000 over the past 5 years there and Tiffany tried very hard to finally help me by offering a $100 gift card to their store, but I do not see me ever going back there after their customer service treated me the way they did. I would recommend you buy your furniture somewhere else that actually cares when you need them to right a wrong.

Read the reviews... and avoid Star – Apparently Star doesn't make enough money selling furniture... they have to nick you wiith service fees. Restocking, storage,etc. There are plenty of REPUTABLE furniture stores in the area... no reason to deal with weasels like this. Try Chic Warehouse on Yale instead.

By the way...citysearch requires a rating of at least one star.... Star Furniture certainly doesn't deserve any at all.

Bad, bad customer service – I must concur with the others who said if you're unsure about purchasing furniture from Star Furniture; shop at another store. My experiences were pretty bad at the 7111 1960 store and the Southwest freeway store. I have been looking meticulously for a Queen sized bed for over 6 months, and I shop not only for beauty but practicality and reasonable prices. I like to comparison shop, and buy when it's a good deal, the furniture is a perfect fit to my existing home furninshings. Their sales people kept hounding and haggling me over making a decision when I said, "I'm just looking." When I didn't buy anything from the store, they dropped me like a bad habit, and waited on the next person coming through the doors. At the Southwest location, no one even bothered to ask me if I needed help until I was ready to leave. I attended one of their decorating seminars, completed the decorating help form, and submitted it to Customer Service. I talked to one sales woman at length about the plans for my home, but the interior designer never even bothered to return my call. I work very hard for my money, and no one treats me like a stepchild.

Star Furniture has really beautiful furniture, but extremely horrible customer service. There are too many other options in furniture stores, and Star has yet to realize it has a serious customer service issue. They overestimated their importance with me.
