Disappointing. I had the Hunan Tofu lunch special. It is nothing to brag about. Medium firm tofu with assorted vegetables in a dark brown sauce. It is very Americanized for me. I hate my food swimming in sauce. It is supposed to be spicy but it is not. The egg roll is big with thicker skin. It is kind of greasy and I can’t tell what is inside the egg roll. They are all meshed together. I like the texture of the fried rice. It is kind of moist and sticky. The place was very busy during the time I was there. People must love it. The price is kind of high. It is a nightmare to find a parking space during peak time.

fantastic best in texas. I have been coming to this place for many years, and have never had a bad experience yet. You have to try the sizzling rice soup is to die for, and the Beijing fish is just fantastic.

Definitly worth going back/14525 Katy Fwy location. I was introduced to this restaurant by friend of mind, and what a refreshing experience. The food was hot and fresh, and taste somehow unique and different than most other chinese restaurant. Try their Gan Sho shrimp, I have never taste shrimp prepared this way. Trust me, it is wonderful. The staffs, they are attentative, and friendly. Atmosphere is very contemporary, and clean. All I can say is "Keep up the good work!"

Good place gone BAD. This applies to the new North China on I-10 @ Hwy 6.

More than 40 minutes after being seated and ordering, no entrie. Waiter returned to ask what we ordered! When we complained, we were told 40 minutes had NOT passed and that our "order was in the computer." Why, then, were we asked to repeat our order? Manager only greeted and spoke to other orientals. Caucasians were almost ignored save placing an order. Manager was rude and argumentative so we got up and left. We have visited the old location on Frostwood in the past but we won't patronize either location again.

What happened to this Place?. I have been going to North China for many many many years. I have always enjoyed their food and service but last night will be my last visit to North China. This is my 3rd visit where I had bad service. I picked this place for my birthday dinner back in August and service was TERRIBLE. Beer wasn't cold and overall, I was not happy. Last night, I had to wait 30 minutes for my dish. Not to mention my wait staff was checking on an empty table asking me if I was doing okay when there is nothing to be okay about. The part that made me upset wasn't the fact that it took too long but there was a table to the left of me who came in 20 minutes after I did and ordered the same dish as me and got it 5 minutes before I did.. When my bill came, the guy didn't even bother to see if I saw the bill, he just threw it on my table and left. I understand they get busy but they had plenty of people working to cover all the tables. The owners are walking around smiling but they are not paying attention to what is going on in this restaurant. Sad to say but good-bye NOrth China.... I am finding a place who wants my business.

Editorial Review. Family run Chinese restaurant in west Houston draws a loyal following with traditionally prepared meals.

Best Kept Secret in Memorial. Usually when we crave Chinese, my boyfriend and I head for PF Chang's or some other overrated place, and end up spending gobs of money. Instead, this weekend we did some researching on the internet and found North China, and we couldn't be happier. The staff was extremely friendly and eager to please. The food was excellent and full of flavor. I recommend the hot and sour soup, which includes large chunks of shrimp, pork and veggies and the Twice Cooked Pork was amazing! The atmosphere was suprisingly romantic, with nice tablecloths and wine bottles on every table, soft jazz playing and large art nouveau paintings on the wall. I believe we have found our new favorite Chinese food restaurant - We will definitely be back soon!

The best chinese food in Texas!. The service is excellent and the food is even better. This restaurant has been one of my favorites for many years. Try the pan fried dumplings and if you like spice, put some of those chili peppers on it.

good food and good service. One of the best fish, "Beijing Fish Fillet" ,in town. You must try it!!! For a special occasion, ask the owner/family to make a special menu. You will be delighted.

PF Chang's wishes they were this good!!!. I have been going to North China for 19 years. I have been to several chineses restaurants in Houston, including the overrated P.F. Chang's. Nothing comes close to North China. The food is tasty and authentic and the wait staff are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I recommend the crab puffs, hot and sour soup, and mandarin hot chicken. I have ordered at least 25 different items and have never been the least bit dissapointed. North China is a must!!!!
