AMAZING SERVICE – Well, i went to Morton's over 5 times. Recently i went there with my girlfriend for her birthday i have been there before during OTC. It is an excellent place. You enjoy everything atmosphire, food, service and etc. My girlfriend and I ordered two fliets and the steak was perfectly cooked. WE enjoyed so much. Wine was good too but i hate to say that it was expensive. but overall we enjoyed our time so much..................
As far as the service, it was good. The managers came to the table this time and asked how things were. I thank them for that. The waiter was good too. But the best part was the VALET. He is really a professinal. I bought a new car and where i live at there is a lot of constructions. So we drove there and pulled to the side to valet. The guy welcomed us very nicely and opened the front door for us. After 2 minutes, he came to the bar and told me that i had a flat. so i went down with him to take a look and he was right. there was a nail in the tire. So he offered me his help. He said very nicely i will take care of that, you go ahead and enjoy your dinner. When we left Morton's, the car was waiting for us and the flat in the trunk. It was an amazing service. I really would like to say THANK YOU again and also thank the managers for having someone very professional like him that does the job just perfectly. I will be going there very soon.
One of the best steaks in town with a side of exquisite service – It's unfortunate that the other reviewers have had such poor things to say about this Morton's, because it is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. I am an event coordinator for a radio station in town and plan events at restaurants all over the city, and I love booking events here. The steak is excellent, and I am not usually one to order a steak, but what really makes this restaurant stellar is the service. The wait staff is extremely friendly and prompt, and any concerns I ever have are immediately addressed and rectified by their event coordinator, Patti.
The restaurant just underwent a large remodeling project and has never looked better. They opened the dining room up while managing to make it feel much cozier.
All-in-all, this Morton's is great and always manages to draw a crowd from our listeners. I am very much looking forward to the event I have planned there next week.
Not to be repeated – Went to Morton's with another couple and was not impressed. When you walked in, you could either go up some stairs (while passing a wheelbarrow stuffed with building supplies) or take an elevator to the second story. There was discarded furniture at the top of the stairs, so the general first impression was bad. The restaurant was very dark and exremely loud. It was hard to hear our dinner companions when talking in a normal voice. Our waiter was fabulous. But, the food was overpriced and just okay. The steaks were unimpressive and the side orders are ridiculous...they're too large and cost too much. We split ours and still had too much left over. The best part of the meal was the chopped salad. We won't be going back.
USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis. – In Short
With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.
Fair – For the money, not worth it. I am glad that we went on a coupon. Ruth's Chris is much better!! and worth the money spent. We would only return if someone was having something special here.
Worst Valentine's Day Experience – I've had several enjoyable experiences at the Mortons location in the galleria. Unfortunately, we could not get a Valentine's Day reservation at that location and decided to give the dowtown location a try. We started by ordering a bottle of wine (which was the best part of the dinner). As our waiter, who will remain nameless because unlike him I will exercise class, approached our table with the dinner cart, my fiance presented him with a promotional coupon ($99 for two, which is posted on the website). I thought we were being respectful of his time but I can not put into words the look of disgust he gave us. We were immediately asked "what do you want" before our bottle even arrived at the table. Since we did not yet decide on our entrees at this point, we both ordered salads. Our salad is immediately RUSHED out before we even received our bottle of wine. Our waiter comes back, and again, asks us if we are ready to order. My fiance politely asked him not to rush us and he eventually got the picture. As I attempted to enjoy my wine, I witnessed my waiter confront another waiter over a table. Moments later we ordered and requested our filets medium rare and medium, respectively. We were given 2 medium well steaks. At this point, I was so digusted with the way we were treated that I did not want to waste my time speaking to the manager. Morton's has a strong commitment to excellence and prides itself on service. Unfortunately, my waiter did not feel the same way. I will continue to dine at galleria location and will never return to this location again.
This Morton's should not be considered a Morton's Steakhouse – I was very disappointed with this Morton's. I have been to several across the US, and expected exceptional service as other Morton's location. Did not appreciate a vegetable class 101. "This is a beefsteak tomato, this will be in your salad....this is an onion, this will also be in your salad." Service was slow, more than usual. A party of three, one steak had to be sent back once, another twice. I brought 2 clients who has never been to Morton's, I was expecting them to be wowed....they were not impressed at all. I was embarrassed and will not be going to this Morton's location. Asked the coat check lady for change. so she would get a tip, she sure wanted the tip, as she directed me to the bar....I did not waste my time...Service poor, food presentation poor, attitude snooty but expected, total experience poor. Though this Morton's was in a prime Galleria area, the entrance going upstairs, was not inviting, reminded me of a janitors closet. I will not be returning to this location. Along with this review, I will be telling two friends, and I am sure that they will tell two friends and so on and so on.
Good steak chain – The steak here is really good. I had the fielt mignon and tried the bone-in ribeye (which tasted much better than my filet) and the porterhouse, which was also really good. The creamed spinach side was good, and the grilled asparagus is something I recommend. The bread here is incredible and I caution against eating too much of it because it can really fill you up. Lobster bisque was very mediocre to my dissapointment. Steak gets cold much faster than it should. Overall, a good restaurant, but doesn't really compare well with the other steak restaurants in Houston. I'll return with the corporate card, but probably not my personal.
Absolute worst service i've ever had... – While staying at the Four Season's downtown, Morton's was highly recommended by the staff and I have heard the name and how fabulous the steak was for years and had never tried it, so decided to take the suggestion. We made reservations and were seated promptly when we arrived. All good. Then, we proceeded to wait and wait and wait until we finally asked who our server was. The person we asked turned out be our server and quickly took our drink orders. Then, we did not see him for a good 10 minutes with our drinks. We were not ready to order so he told us he'd be 'right back'. Well, another 10 minutes later he came back and took our order at which time he asked me if I knew what 'medium rare' meant and compared it to 'medium'. Knowing very well the difference between the two, I insisted that i did, indeed, want the medium rare filet. I am assuming the server took it upon himself to order my steak 'medium' thinking i obviously didn't understand the difference. I chose not to return the steak since we had already been there an hour and i didn't want to wait another hour and ate it. We had difficulty getting water refilled, another glass of wine, etc. and chose to order our dessert to go and get the check. I asked for my steak to be wrapped up for my dog. He returned relatively promptly with the check and two to-go bags which we assumed were the dessert and my leftover steak. We handed him the card and he left, supposedly to close out our bill. 10 or 15 minutes later, not even having SEEN the waiter, we flagged a manager and told him how long we had waited and how upset we were. He got our check back relatively quickly but made no other attempts to appease us other than say 'sorry'. Then, later when we opened the bags, one was the dessert we ordered and the other was another dessert (rather than the steak). So, someone else looking forward to their dessert that evening was staring at my overcooked steak scraps. We will NEVER go to Morton's again.
Best steaks ever! – Hubby and I went for Valentine's Day dinner, I had filet mignon and he had prime rib. We absolutely loved it!! Our server was very very nice, and recommended good wine.... when you go, make sure you order just one side order and share it, that was a recommendation of our server and it was very wise... We went for the mashed potatoes... Also make sure you order your dessert just as you order dinner, as it takes about an hour for some of their desserts to be ready... We ordered the Godiva Chocolate Cake and it was absolutely lush!!! Will recommend to anyone!
