Just average - it's a Landry's – We visited the Post Oak location last Friday because it was convenient. Landry's restaurant chain owns this place in order to have a presence in the Galleria area and I knew what to expect when I came here - average to slightly better food, trendy decor, above average prices, adequate service, nice bar, etc., but I didn’t expect or receive anything out of the ordinary, special, or unique. We were served a nice meal in a nice place, but it’s certainly not worth more than average rating. Any reviewer who gushes about the place or any Landry's restaurant has apparently not been to many really good restaurants. If you want a good seafood place, go to Brennans; come here for convenience only.

Deteriorating – I used to love this place a few years ago. I always tried to bring my friends and clients there for an excellent (at that time) lobster bisk and scallops. No more.

This restaurant had deteriorated so significantly over the last few years that I did not recognize it any more. The decor is still the same, but both food and service are below acceptable.

The oysters I ordered were not fresh, so they replaces them - not fresh again, so I had to sent them back all together. I ordered scallops as a main course - big mistake. The scallops came raw and tasteless.

Talking to the manager had no effect all together. This place has no future if they do not change the chef and the manager.

Nothing To Rave About – We had a party of 15 people to celebrate my sister's birthday. We arrived at different times so we ordered Drinks and Appetizer during Happpy Hour, while we waited on the other guests to arrive. The waiter put everything on one bill, which proved to be a nightmare at the end of the evening . The waiter had 3 other large tables and it was obvious he could not keep up with our orders or addtional requests. The other large tables that were seated after our party was served much more efficiently. In fact they had appetizers, salads, dinner, drinks, and left before we recieved our second round of drinks. The food was just ok, the drinks were good, but 3.5 hours is too long to wait for poor service especially when18% gratuity added. To make matters worse the waiter did not bring anything like cake, pie, or candles to help us celebrate the birthday we all came together for. The manager was called over several times and made some adjustments, but not enough to visit Willie G's again.

Great seafood – I had not eaten at Willie G's since I moved to another part of town - about 12 years. Decided to try it and it was even better than I remember. Excellent seafood - everything we had was outstanding!

Losing Its Touch – Hostess= 0 stars due to very poor attitude. Looked bothered that people were actually showing up in resturant...For management one of the two young ladies working on Jan 19th 08 evening shift

Waiter= 2 stars due to the guy being flighty. I think he makes up for his lack of organizational skills at times with his outgoing behavoir..Not a knock against the guy, some people do like him for the character he brings. He tried his best but got swamped. Made a mistake on our order. Gave up paying attention to our table after the mistake. Was slow to his other tables near us also.

Food= 2 stars. Willie G's tries to be on par with Pappaduex/Pappas Seafood but comes up short. The price you pay does not equal the quality you get. Yes this place is still a cut above Reb Lobster. However, I would galdly pay the same amount of money in another resturant.

Environment= 0 stars. This hard because you first walk in the place you get a classy feeling for it. I have been at this location before a few years ago at still get the same immediate feel for a classy joint. I would have rated it higher but for one huge difference this time...FRUIT FLIES! First it is annoying as hell to swat in front of your face every few mins. Second, it does lend to a pleasant experience when you see the flies land on your drink glasses and then you start to think where else they have landed before. Thrid, I have watched Kitchen Nightmares on FOX and know what it means when a resturant has a fly problem (unstanitary). If Marvin Zinlader were still alive, I would put money on the idea of him finding slime in the ice machine.

For Managment:

Rather than throwing this resturant into the grave (if it does not change the way it operates on certain levels it will end up in the grave), I think it can turn it around. 1) CLEAN UP the place and get rid of the Fruit Flies, if you don't City Health Inspectors will eventually catch on 2) Get new hostesses that want to actual work.

Expensive, yet poorly executed. – Really awful chicken and sausage gumbo. Thin stock that just tasted like burned flour. Sausage tasted like supermarket fare, and the chicken tasted like can chicken. I've never actually tasted canned chicken, but I saw it in the market and imagine it taste like Willie G's.

Steak was OK, but was flavorless and was I charged another 8 bucks for a wine sauce.

Oysters on the half shell were too large for my taste.

Was overly loud, and stiff wine and beer prices.

Overall, sucked and I'll not return.

Great Lunch but Too Loud – The Food was great including desert. The only downside is the noise in the restaurant, beautiful restaurant but the noise is too much, almost a reason not to go to the restaurant. Waitstaff is excellent and the food is excellent. If you don't mind the noise factor, excellent place to dine.

Very bad service, good food though – Well, I was recommended this restaurant as the best seafood place in town so I took my husband and a bunch of our friends (around 20) to celebrate his B-day. My husband, bro in law & Me arrived first to the place and we were welcomed and promptly seated even though we were only 3 out of the 20 (that's a good thing). Our table was reallyyyy big and we were assigned only one waiter that could barely speak English, so we had to say our orders more than once to be understood. after everybody's arrived we started ordering & this took forever!! the waiter was way too slow and he would only take one order at a time!!! then he dissapears & show up after 5 min to take the next order. To cut the story short, we were not satisfied with the service, food wasn't that spectacular, Portions not too big not too small, but a little bit over priced for the amount of it. Recomendations: Order the stuffed jalapenios (yummy) and anything that's fried (though am not big fan of fried seafood) cuz it seems this restaurant is specialized in fried seafood which was really tasty. the broiled stuff was so so! finally we only got 1 check for all of us (the 20)!! took us forever to be able to pay and the staff were not really helpful nor that friendly!

Honestly won't go there again. just bec of the service.

Upscale chain offering high-energy ambience, attentive service and wide seafood variety. – In Short
It's a hit with the Post Oak crowd seeking casual seafood fare. Inside, the restaurant's vibrant atmosphere is dressed up by dark-wood paneling. The menu features peel-and-eat shrimp, stuffed broiled shrimp, blackened snapper Pontchartrain, grilled flounder, almond rainbow trout and more. Landlubbers may choose from pecan-crusted chicken, charbroiled duck opelousas, torn chicken pasta and a variety of Angus steaks.

Not that impressed... – I recently had dinner there with my family and my fiancee's family, and although the service was outstanding, the food was average at best. Most of us ordered broiled fish with a topping which is ~$30/person. When the food arrived, it was obvious it had been sitting under a heat lamp for sometime--the cheese on my twice baked potatoes had congealed! Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy their meals, however. I just would have expected our food to have been a little less "stale" when it was brought to the table.
