Ruined my night – Don't even bother attending this place for the following reasons (in no particular order):
1) Too Pricey- My wife's cup of lobster bisque was $18, and it was the size of a shot glass.
2) Very Dirty- I can see why the lights are so dim in the restaurant, everything is so dirty they don't want you to see it.
3) Classless waitstaff/ managers- My waiter messed my entire order up, after waiting for over 45 minutes to get it. When the manager came over, he didn't even apologize for messing up, he tried to put it on us that we ordered the wrong stuff they brought us.
4) Food was awful- I have had a lot of steaks in my day, some burnt, some cold, but never in my entire life have I received a steak that was both burnt and cold. Only at Perry's. My wife ordered her steak medium-well and it came out charcoal black. Tasted like we were eating ashes. All my friends said to get the bananas foster, which we did, and it was the best part of the night.
Summary: If you were absolutely forced to eat here, skip the whole meal until you get to desert and savor every bite of your $22 bananas foster. The feeling I had when I left, was i had wasted $200. Save your time and money, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!
NOT the Best – Our experience at Perry's was horrible at best. The wait-staff seemed to have no regard for us at the table. The food was not anything I would give to my dog. I have heard many things about Perry's, but if you ask me, Mark's, Capital Grille, and Cullen's are much better experiences.
My favorite in the Clear Lake area – have been dining at Perry's for years and have never had a bad meal. Service is not always perfect, but is it anywhere? Wine list is superb and if you don't know what to select, the wait staff or sommeilier will choose the perfect wine for your meal. Its off the beaten path for some, but the meal and romantic atmosphere are worth it.
Great food, the jury is still out on the service! – I went there for dinner with my husband and we had a great dinner. The food and the service was excellent!! I had the filet, he had the bone in rib eye, both cooked to perfection! I went back a couple of weeks later for lunch with my aunt, and the food was great, but the service was horrible. We had the Wednesday pork chop special, delicious! I don't drink soda, so I just had water...servers don't like that. Anyway, I think he re-filled my glass only once the whole time we were there. I had to stop at a nearby gas station for a bottled water after leaving. I didn't finish my lunch, so I asked for it to go, and he accidentally threw it away instead of boxing it up...oops! Huge difference between our dinner experience and luch experience! I'm going back for lunch today, so we'll see if I just happened to get a bad waiter the last time there.
Food not up to restaurant – My wife and another couple went to eat and where very surprised at how much the quailty of the food has went down. Apps, crab cake, mushrooms and there famous fried asparagus. Crab cake was full of crab, but had no taste, tasted like it had been frozen, mushrooms where good but sauces again had no taste, fried asparagus was good but crab meat tasted fishy, tasted like it was steamed cod broken up over the asparagus. One of the steaks in our party was so overcooked it hurt the back of his throat going down. Steaks did not seem to be either prime or just didn't have enough age on them. Mushrooms I could only identify 2 types not 4 as menu said. Mac and cheese was penne pasta and dry, spinach was unedible, the best part of the evening was the bananas foster, very good. The wine list is very good, but wine service was only so so. Our second bottle of wine was a 03 Darioush Cab, we ordered another, the server brought out the next bottle and poured it, didnt present it, it was a 04 Darioush Cab, which was good, but he should of let us make the decision on the different vintage.
Excellent Food – My husband and I visited Perry's last week and we absolutely loved the service, drinks, and most importantly the food. I had a filet and my husband had pork. It was all very wonderful and my favorite besides the steak was the warm spinach salad! It was incredible. I had a great night and our waiter was very friendly and gave us a good evening together. Thanks!
Great steaks, amazing service – The atmosphere at the Bay Area Perry's is much different then their other locations. A little more layed back, and not such the "yuppy" hotspot. The upgrade to Prime beef has really increased the quality of their food. Plus, the new menu presentation has finally caught them up to the 21st century. My personal favorite are their famous porkchops. They are massive, a minimum of two meals with a great price attached.
A pretentious restaurant – My husband and I had an unpleasant dinner experience at Perry's and unfortunately it was in the occasion of my birthday. The waitress was very pushy and came to our table too many times to move things around, to take away food that was not yet finished, to ask if we wanted more drinks etc. The two steaks that we ordered were good, but they came without any side. We ordered two sides (a baked potato and some asparagus) that were not completely cooked and rather hard. The wine list is very expensive (40$ the cheapest bottle) and the average price of a glass of wine is 10$. We ordered two desserts: a cheese cake (that was good) and a double chocolate mousse that was spoiled in a way that you could not understand what it was. I mean you could not taste any chocolate but only the acidity of the milk. We complained with the waitress, she was sorry and told us that they would have taken care of that dessert. We also had the impression during the dinner that they were rushing us in order to clean the restaurant. Actually two waiters were already cleaning under the tables. While we were waiting for the bill, the manager came to our table and began to ask questions about the dessert, as in the restaurant chef?s opinion it was OK (did he taste what we sent back?). He was very inquisitive and he was trying to convey the idea that we did not understand the nature of that particular dessert (may be the use of old spoiled milk?). Eventually we got the bill and we paid 103$ for two filets mignon, two sides, two beers and one dessert. Isn?t it a little bit too much?
Customer Service number one! – Well, I tried to review his new Steakhouse at Memorial Mall, but it doesn't seem to exist on CityGuides. His Bay Area retaurant is good, but when his new restaurant opens, it will take Houston by storm. I was invited to dinner at the new restaurant last night, and I was impressed. The buiding is one of the best in all of Houston, if not the best. Mr. Perry, you have accomplished something grand and should be proud of your accomplishment. Everything is exquisite, elegant, and the food (Especially the pork chop which you cut by hand at the Table) is the best I have ever tasted. The tour blew me away. Every little detail is amazing. Its on Bay Area Blvd not Pineloch – Having much experience with steak cuisine in other areas of the USA--I speak with some authority. The combination of atmosphere and serving excellence and the most delicious steaks--makes for a wonderful evening. And you don't have to fight Houston traffic for dessert (if you live in South Houston or Greater Clear-lake)
The Perry's Italian Restaurant is on Pineloch but the super steakhouse is on Bay Area Blvd, just across the railroadtracks next to Highway 3--towards the university of Houston Clearlake campus.
