George's Pastaria – take out order different than price quoted over phone/ discussed with cashier if this was the right price? she said yes/gave her my credit card, got receipt and started to leave restaurant. Then confronted by owner, he said to step outside, in parking lot, he said that I had no right to talk to his 16 yr old employees....about prices...needed to talk to him directly...walked to my car. After a few minutes, I brought my order back into the restuarant where the owner was standing at the counter with his employees and I placed my order on the counter and left the restaurant.
I wanted to like it, but... – The food was good, however, it wasn't what we ordered! We went for our son's birthday. It was a Friday night, and they were obviously overwhelmed with large parties. In addition to having to walk up to the bar to get a refill on our drinks and ask for bread (after having been at our table for about 30 minutes) when our food finally arrived, they brought the wrong meals! The owner... yes, we were later told it was the owner.... said "I'm sorry, I would cook you something else but it is too busy, do you mind just eating this". Fortunately we were ok with what it was and with a 5 and 6 year old in tow, didn't want to wait for another meal (even if we argued for one). We were charged full price (minus the tarimsu and ice cream we ordered for dessert). Honestly, after having waited tables for years when I was younger, I was shocked at the lack of concern the owner displayed over poor service. It was as if it was acceptable! I want to support a local place, I do. But we will never go back!
good comfort food – Italian dishes are tasty. Excellent spaghetti and breads. I tried the lunch special fish with marinara, artichokes and shrimp with pasta. Salads are extra with lunch special so $3.95. The restaurant charges a 15% for seperate checks and in the menu states order at the counter. Thought lunch was pricey at 18.95 but the food was well worth it. Will go back again
Bad service, bad food – I knew it was cheap from the online menu, and the interior had a homey, relaxed feel, but that was where the good feelings ended. the food was awful, and the service nearly as bad.
i ordered the linguine pescatore, and my friend the da vinci pizza. the shellfish in my pasta was clearly not fresh, the sauce was more a watery soup, and the "spicy" sauce tasted like canned tomatoes with a sprinkling of herbs on top. the pizza was sub-par as well.
and the whole time, our water glasses were never refilled, and no one asked how our meal was. nobody was impolite, but the place was not even a quarter full, so i don't understand why we were so neglected.
Good Fun with Good Food – The owners George and Dave are absolutely amazing guys. They are there all the time and always have a smile on their faces. Never have I had dinner at George's Pastaria and not had a good meal. They have really fresh food, and very rich flavors. The atmosphere is cozy and warm compared to the giant Italian food chains. I even go to watch my favorite sporting events. They have a little bar area near the kitchen so you can have some grub and mingle with the staff while watching your favorite teams. My favorite is a bottle of Big A$$ Cab with the Rigatoni Campagnolo. Just remember, it's a local joint, so don't be afraid if some introduces them self, including other patrons.
Great Pasta! – George's is terriffic! I've tried several different items on the menu, and everything has been fresh and delicious. The whole family loves it!
Italian food that's unabashedly Americanized is the draw here. – In Short
The little cafe, decked out with red-and-white-checked tablecloths and homey lattice work, feels like a great neighborhood spot, though it isn't really in a neighborhood. Try the spinach fettuccine, chicken pasta salad or rigatoni. There's a thoughtful children's menu, too.
Nice neighborhood Place – With a questionable exterior (converted garage?), it took us three years to garner the courage to go in.
What a surprise! A small but friendly bar - attentive service, excellent wine list and exceptional Italinan dishes. Crowded and a bit noisy, especially before 8:30, none the less the waitstaff is very helpful. Garlic bread, which shows up automatically, goes well against a glass of red while waiting for those plates to arrive.
