At Rohe & Wright Builders, we don't simply tout a list of home features to try to set ourselves apart. Instead, we focus on what is best for the home at hand. Those details may be something we use all the time or it could be something totally new that we have to source or create. Time and again, we've proven this philosophy to discriminating home buyers who understand what we mean by "Building more into your home". We believe it takes more than ornamentation to define a certain style. The pace, proportions, materials, even the trees on the lot, can change the character of a home. At Rohe & Wright, our principles define our company. It's proven a strong foundation to build upon for over 13 years and it is the same strength that you can call on for years to come. We take pride in the fact that many of our clients have returned to build a second and even third Rohe & Wright home.
We purchased our Rohe & Wright home in a new community in 2009, and were very pleased with the design, architecture, appliances, fixtures, and most important - location. We went through an initial period of finding minor defects, all of which Rohe & Wright repaired.
After three years in our home, however, some major defects surfaced when the Texas drought gave way to sorely needed rains. We experienced roof leaks, stucco compromise, and water damage to our Master Suite and Bathroom and plumbing issues in a guest bathroom. We identified these issues to Rohe & Wright, and they stated they would stand by their work and see to it that these defects were fixed.
Over the next two years repairs were begun, although, initially at a halting pace. There were several do-overs, but repairs of the identified defects have recently been completed. The builder met with me and explained the processes they were going through to get things done (some of their sub-contractors apparently were responsible but had filed bankruptcy and were now out of business; good laborers were now in very high demand and short supply; and that they intended to stand by their homes and fix everything).
Finally, in the fall of 2013, Rohe & Wright brought in a project management team for warranty repairs, headed by Mr. Roel Badillo. Once Mr. Badillo was in charge, the pace of the repairs picked up substantially. He and his team did work hard to identify the sources of the leaks, and to make permanent repairs. We now have a new roof, new stucco finishes, re-installed flashings, and a refinished interior master suite and bathroom. I would like to thank Mr. Badillo for his diligence and all his efforts to make this happen.
I would like to say that Roel Badillo, the assistant superintendent during the building of our house, was just great to work with during the warranty work of our project. He was very positive and detailed and always followed through with getting things done.
My experience with Roel Badillo, at R & W, was very positive. Roel consistantly set expectations with my wife and I on our warranty work, and delievered on the commitments he made each and every time. He demonstrated professionalism in resolving each item, and was courteous each time he worked on our behalf. We trusted him to enter our home and manage the subs to complete each item, while we were away at the time of the work being completed. We highly recommend asking RW to have Roel on your next project, it is a pleasure to work with him.
Unfortunately my experience with Rohe and Wright has been a disaster story. I built and designed my home with Rohe and Wright and moved in 7/2009. A year later I noticed a crack n the stucco on my first floor. Later I had water leakage into my master bath from my fourth floor rooftop. Rohe and Wright first claimed in an email that they would attempt to "place coverage with either their Errors and Omissions policy for their design firm or their General Liability insurance for their building company. When they discovered that their insurance company had gone bankrupt, they refused ANY RESPONSIBILITY to fix the situation. (This situation, after independent testing, has resulted in remediation costs estimated at of over $300k and me having to vacate my home for at least 6 months. There are three homes in our block, all built by R & W. The first was remediated, TWICE, for water damage problems, leaky balconies, improperly installed windows by R&W because they had a business relationship with the owner. They denied ANY responsibility to myself and the other homeowner despite he issues being EXACTLY the same and the homes being BUILT EXACTLY at the same time. DO NOT do business with them no matter how fancy their website is or what promises they make on it. They will ONLY be responsive to problems if there is no way they can weasel out from or wear you down. My insurance company, who is currently remediating the problem, has over 9 similar cases in Houston and this is just that insurance company.! A previous home I owned that was built by R&W in 2006 had severe water problems also. They only fixed the problem when the civil suit was about to go to trial and then demanded that the successful plaintiff NOT DISCLOSE any of the terms of settlement. There are so many reputable builders in Houston that do great work - go to them and save yourself so much heartache, trouble and money!
Unfortunately, my experience with Rohe and Wright has been horrendous! We had not been in our home a year and water was flooding into the walls because all 57 windows flashing were installed incorrectly among many other things. We repeatedly asked for them to fix these things. Russ or whoever was in charge would show up tell us they would fix it and we would not see them again until we sent numerous emails and called repeatedly. Finally they would show up take the stucco off and leave the home exposed and not finish the job. I could go on and on but I won't.
Bottom line is we had to go through our insurance carrier to get it fixed properly.(Thanks to another neighbor telling us that is what they had to do). We had to move out of our house for 6 months while it was repaired by another company. The wood was rotting on a less then 2 year old house. If you do decide to build with Andy make sure you have a attorney read the contract. Have your own supervisor inspect your home every step of the way and make sure that you have great insurance that will fix your home if you run into a problem. You should also knock on some doors in the gated community and ask the residents about their experience with Rohe and Wright. This is not sour grapes it is just a fact.
We also worked with Hazen, who was a complete professional and took care of all issues and made sure everything was perfect. The whole team at Rohe & Wright were easy to work with, responsive and committed to customer service. Any time someone asks about the house or our builder, I always recommend Rohe & Wright, so their experience will be as good as ours was.
Rohe & Wright completed a home for us in December 2011. Throughout the journey from design through post-move in check list, Rohe & Wright was professional, prompt, and consultative. In particular, we were very pleased with our project manager. His approach, collaboration, and commitment was second to none. We are very pleased with the end result and could not have imagined a better partner along this journey than Rohe & Wright.
Rohe & Wright Builders built an outstanding home for me in 2004 and remodeled another in 2012-13. Kris Pittman's knowledge and demeanor made the process exceptional. Visitors to my home notice the detail of the finished product. I want Rohe and Wright to be there for me the next time. Susanne M.
Rohe and Wright Builders stand behind their product! We built our home with them 7 years ago and had some issues that were ongoing. Even after tough economic times they have stayed in business. We called one of the owners when we could not get one of their subcontractors back to rectify the problem with our roof. Andy Suman came to our home several times and got the contractor on sight to fully repair the problem. He was committed to seeing the repair through to the end including all painting and clean up afterward. I have rarely seen that level of customer service from any other company. We have not seen any other issues since the final repair.
Based on this level of commitment to their finished product and the quality customer service we received, I would highly recommend this builder.
We've built two homes with Rhoe & Wright and have recommended them to friends. They have an amazing team and we especially enjoyed our relationship with their superintentdent Hazen. If you are planning to build a custom home, by all means include R&W in your process.
