Got Moore, a lot more then was needed...The estimate was over $5,000 and the problem was a freon leak which was fixed for $800
JOHN MOORE A/C – jOHN MOORE PLUMBING/ A.C. DOESN'T DESERVE ANY STARS. THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY AND NOT SURE TECHS HAVE ANY TRAINING IN DIAGNOSING A PROBLEM WITH ELECT/ OR A,C,, DON"T USE THEM, OR YOU WILL BE "SORRY" I PROMISE.THEY ARE NEGATIVE ALL THE WAY----- VERY UNPROFESSIONAL--THEY ARE HORRIBLE FOR A/C SERVICE. ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS SELL YOU A BRAND NEW UNIT. TECHNICHIAN DIDN'T SPECIFY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH COMPRESSOR...ONLY WROTE AN INVOICE FOR A COMPLETE NEW A/C AND HEATING UNIT. THEY DIDN'T WANT TO SEND ME COPY OF INVOICE OR REFUSED TO FAX ME A COPY-WITH ME BEING A LANDLORD FOR THIS ONE HOUSE. TENANTS WERE INCONVENIENCED WITH NO AIR. I WOULD RECOMMEND CALLING A COMPANY THAT ONLY DEALS WITH A/C & HEATING. MAYBE FOR PLUMBING, THEY ARE GOOD--NOT A/C.
John Moore A/C Services - never again – This review is a long time coming, and so, I've cooled down and thankfully forgotten alot of the angst we went through. To get straight to the point, after many, many calls regarding our a/c and several visits by several "so called" technicians, we will never ever use John Moore A/C Services again. We definitely were ripped off, the problem kept coming back (remember, this past summer's temps were over 100). We have learned that the "big fish" with all the advertising isn't necessarily the best and can do a number on your check book. I also have to mention, should you have a problem with your service and try to get it rectified on the phone, good luck to you! I will stick with the independent we found, T n Z Home Improvement, 281-570-5069. We received personal attention from Troy King. I cringe every time I see a John Moore A/C truck. ONLY USED ONE STAR BECAUSE I COULDN'T PUBLISH THIS WITHOUT A STAR OF SOME KIND.
helpful and understanding – The technician that came after hours was really patient and helped me understand what kind of problem I was having with my hot water heater. He didn't rush even though it was almost 8 pm.
John Moore – You should NEVER NEVER use them - they will rip you off big time - again NEVER believe any thing they say - they replaced the cap can back later and repaleced it again for a wopping 695$ - like the one guy said a 25$ cap and 5 mins labor - they should be put out of bussiness
RIP-OFF – They charged me $400 for a part that I can buy on Amazon for $25. He said "but it also includes labor." The labor involved unplugging 4 wires and plugging them into the new capacitor. 5 minutes and it was fixed. Obviously these guys should get paid for their time, but $375 for 5 minutes of work is shameful. I will NEVER use them again.
Don't get ripped off... – They have one star since it won't allow negative stars. We called on a Friday night due to a leak that was spraying water into our attic and guest room. There was a small hole in a Pex pipe that runs from our hot water heater, and it was spraying enough water that we had to shut off the water to the entire house. John Moore came out and said that the fix would cost $8,000 since we needed to repipe the entire house. When asked if he could temporarily stop the leak so we could at least have running water, he made a few calls and said the parts were impossible to find and that they don't even make this type of pex pipe. As sincerely as he could, he told that he was sorry he could not do more for us.
Desperate for some sort of plug or temporary fix, my husband ended up at Home Depot where they had a full wall of this "nonexistent" pipe & a large bin full of the parts that were impossible to find. Problem completely solved for under $100. They push hard to up-sell and then are unwilling to repair the problem when you do not agree to their insane solution.
As far as being a BBB Accredited Business...Well, if the owner of John Moore is Chairman of the Board of the local BBB, you may want to think twice about how much that label means. Just search the internet for "bbb Houston announces chairman of the board"
Don't take my word for it - you'll notice a trend in the complaints against this company from customers and ex-employees as well.
Lesson learned - Don't call John Moore.
Run away fast – One word, RIPOFF. 5 year old A/C was making noise. 1st guy said it needed $1400 of assorted work to be "like new" for 5-7 more years. 2 hours after he got paid & left, the noise came back. New guy comes out and says the compressor is bad and that the whole unit inside and out must be replaced for $7000. When I asked about the $1400 I had spent just 2 hours before, he said it was an "unfortunate coincidence". Local and HONEST A/C installer says he gets calls from unhappy John Moore customers all the time as well as their installers looking for work because they are tired of being pressured by management to make unnecessary sales. He installed a brand new unit inside & out with a 10 year parts & labor warranty for $4200. Now fighting with Moore to get my $1400 back. They are unresponsive and avoiding me. Will make complaint to BBB as more people should. Crooks!!!
Don't Trust "Free Estimate" Claim – Don't trust John Moore when it says "free estimate" on its website...the 'free' thing may cost you $450 or more!!!!!! And they're supposed to give you a price before they do anything...don't leave them alone in your backyard or you'll be paying $96/lbs for freon, when everybody else charges $30/lbs in average!!! And the free estimate part costs $160 diagnostic charge!!!! I paid $450 for something that should have only cost me $90. And when we complained about it, they offered $95 refund!!!!!!!! NEVER Again.
John Moore Plumbing – I am posting this everyplace I can find. This company has a history of making appointments and giving out a window which they do not intend to abide by. They use a standard ploy of saying they will be out between such and such. Then they call 30 minutes before the end of the window and say they are running late, but they have not forgotten you. Another couple of hours go by, and they call again. They are still stuck at the last job, but they will be there in a couple of hours. By then it is dark, so you say wait till tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and they are still working on the job that made them late in the first place. This happened to me the first time and I thought they really were just busy (they also scratched my wood floor when removing a water heater), but when it happened the same way the next time, I saw the pattern. I then went to the computer and started reading reviews and VOILA, I should have known better. Do yourself a favor. Read the reviews first (I did not) and call someone else.
