Best Of Citysearch for BBQ?!?!?!? You've got to be kidding!!! Goode Company has "OK" BBQ and HORRIBLE BBQ Sauce. Best thing on the menu is japaleno cheese bread and pecan pie. What's this site coming to??

Not sure that it qualifies as barbeque, since I did not taste even the slightest hint of wood smoke. Been to much better barbeque places.

Strictly average BBQ – 8/13/2011

Had pork rib dinner there today. Counter service was average. I grade the Coleslaw better than average - not too sweet & watery. Ribs were dry & chewy. Pinto beans were undercooked

First visit & probably the last.

good food without waiting:) – Very good place if you want to eat sth good but don't feel like waiting for it...

Love turkey and sausage.

We like going there - it's very simple place with good prices and very tasty food.

Strong BBQ – This was some very strong BBQ. I got a three meat dinner meal and it was well priced with a good amount of food. The meat was prepared tremendously. I was very pleased. I was, however, disappointed in the sauce. I wish I could combine the sauces of Smokey Bones with this place. I would be in heaven. Even with that, I really enjoyed my meal. The jalapeno bread was fantastic. I also enjoyed the apple backed beans. It was a pleasant surprise. Something different for me.

More “company” than “goode” – There might be an appropriate occasion for eating at Goode Company. For example, perhaps you are forced to entertain someone visiting from the northeast and you do not want them to fall in love with awesome ‘que and move to Texas or perhaps you simply need to eat brisket NOW and cannot stand to drive the half hour or so it takes to get to one of the awesome authentic joints on the outskirts of town. Yes, I do understand that there is a time and a place for Goode Co. but why anyone would come here outside of those given scenarios is beyond my comprehension. This may qualify as barbeque in other parts of the country, but this is Texas and we expect more than meat slathered with sauce.

Many praise the pecan pie as well. This oozing mess of sugary goop sprinkled with pecans on pre-made crust must certainly be more addicting than crack for only a victim of addiction would order it a second time.

The sausage, jalapeño cornbread and beans on the other hand are fairly good. I wouldn’t kick them out of my dinner plate, that’s for sure. The innate problem with cooking barbeque in Houston is the same as that with Tex-Mex – there are simply a plethora of awesome, cheap and lovable places. So if you are going to do it, you best do it right…or you can just buy some prime real estate on Kirby Dr. and let it do the talking.

I love this place; the best! – As a native Houstonian that now lives in Austin I always make Goode Co. a part of my trip while in town.

I used to watch Pappy (RIP) in the parking lot years ago and Goode Co. is just home. I like the other ventures but Kirby is the only one I go to.

I usually always get the same thing: jalapeno sausage, smoked turkey, sauce on the side, double Jambalaya Texana rice with 2 Jalapeno bread and a cold Lone Star. The stuffed potato is great, the ribs and brisket are good but I just like what I like. That sauce is killer.

Myself and others in Austin will get together if one of us brings some back. There is usually no talking involved; just eating and smiling.

I never liked pecan pie until I had one from Goode Co. Simply the best I have ever had. Ever. If you have never been you are cheating yourself out of a great meal. I can't think of one BBQ place in town that comes close.

Oh, and the lemonade is really good too for the kiddos.

Incredible BBQ, even with stellar competition in Houston – Great location. Lots of outdoor seating to melt the northerners in the summer. The roasted duck is to die for. Brisket is done very well and not overcooked, juicy and delicious. The jalapeno bread goes well with the plates. Potato salad is pretty good. Nice plate of goode co. bbq and a cold beer is a great meal any day of the week.

Best You Can Get, without Making It Yourself – Well, reading reviews on City Search of barbeque places, is very up and down; kinda' like riding a roller coaster. One reader gives a place a shining five stars, while the very next reviewer gives the same place a one star. And I'm not talking about Goode Co., just barbeque reviews in general, on City Search. I've tried quite a few of the barbeque places in Houston over the years, and Goode Co. is one of the better places. Plus I happen to like their Kirby location. It's close to Rice Village, close to Downtown, and convenient to West U. and Bellaire. The people working here are friendly, the service is good, and they serve remarkably consistent BBQ ribs, chicken and sausage. I especially like their turkey sausage and their pork ribs. Unless I'm in the mood to buy mesquite wood and make barbeque myself in the back yard, this place is the next best thing. ....Nice, mild smoke flavor, and friendly service.

If you want the die-hard, strong-kicking mesquite smoke flavor that's second to none.......................well then you'd have to come by my house on a Sunday afternoon, when I have the barbeque grill going.
