The Actual Oldest Barber Shop in Bellaire. Dear customers:

Worst hair cut I've ever had!. I recently read a review about Frenchy's that said it was a very good place to go. I highly disagree. I got probably the worst hair cut I've ever had which only took about 10 mins to do.....a hair cut which normally takes about 45 mins from my normal barber. If you are under the age of about 60 I would not recommend this shop.

Small town Barbershop in Big City. This is the real deal. A truly small-town style barbershop plunked down in the middle of Houston (Bellaire, actually). Lots of interesting decor to keep you occupied while you wait (look for the tuba mute). Harry and Gordon have managed to keep it casual, friendly and inexpensive ($8), even as the city builds around them. I still make the 20 mile drive to see them once a month or so. Closed Sun-Mon.

EDIT: 7/2010: Price is $12, but still cheaper than most. Harry passed on last year, but Gordon is still cuttin'!
