I love Malo, the atmosphere is hip, the food is great and very inexpensive. Chips and home made salsa are a must! Sometimes it can get a little loud, but other than that I would definitely recommend it.
Pros: Great Food
Cons: Loud

This place is delicious. The margaritas are to die for. The guacamole and salsa choices are so good. Great ambiance and good service. I will definitely return when I'm back on the east side.
Pros: tacos and margaritas

I went to brunch yesterday with my friends and was BLOWN away at how good it is. I've always been a fan of malo for dinner but - WOW! The pancakes are better than any pancakes i've ever had (and i consider myself quite the pancake fan) and the egg tostada was amazing. Not to mention the drinks - watermelon, strawberry, and spicy cucumber margaritas - YUM! the server was sweet as pie and was super helpful with recommendations. The music was perfect and it was not crowded at all - I've found my brunch eating spot!!!
Pros: music, service, margaritas, brunch food

I had the potato & cheddar tacos and they were amazing. The hostess was super friendly, the music was perfect and the tequila margaritas, phew delicious. Malo will be my new 'haunt' for the rest of the summer, especially when it comes to the happy hour.
Pros: Potato Cheddar Tacos, Music, Margaritas

I used to LOVE this place and would eat there a few times every month. Lately, the service is lacking and their specialty margaritas which are very good have become small portion-wise to the high price. My latest visit left me and my friend waiting for our "salsa flight" for 15 minutes, not to mention we were never able to place a dinner order because no one would pay attention to us. Our $10 margs were high ball glasses mostly full with ice. After 25 minutes of being ignored we ended up leaving money on the table because we couldn't get the servers attention to give us our bill and went over to Mexico City. Adios Malo.

we were a little undecided about where to go and what to do last night, but we knew we were hungry. heard about malo on chowhound and thought, "tacos and tequila? we're there!" luckily found street parking and when we walked in to malo yummy yummy aromas greeted us. we ordered a mojito and a sangria, the fiance and my choice drinks, and quickly decided on the tomatillo and avocado salsa, ground beef and pickle tacos, carne asada tacos, and the potato tacos, plus rice and beans on the side. a lot of food, i know, but we polished it all off and still had room for tres leches cake! the tacos were a bit on the small side, but their taste really made up for it. turned out to be just right. the beef, pickle, and cheese tacos tasted just like a burger which was a little disoncerting at first, but actually quite good. i put some of the avocado salsa on my carne asada tacos and yowza! they were good. the rice was fluffy but didn't taste like anything til i mixed some beans in. the sangria was strong, just how i like it, and the tres leches cake was pretty good. all in all, we'll definitely go back to try more of their dishes!
Pros: fried-to-order chips, variety of salsas and tacos, cool decor
Cons: got a bit noisy, but really not a problem

I was here on Friday night in the bar and I had the best experience. We arrived late, just before midnight and the bartender let us know that the kitchen was closing at midnight. She made some suggestions so we could make the cut off time and boy was she right. The Fried Potato Tacos with Chipotle were to to die for coupled with an Organic Margarita. Not only that but the bartender was a hottie!!! We ended up staying till 2am, drinking our way through the tequila list that was 200 bottles strong. It was an amazing experience and we cannot wait to return.
Pros: Tequila Selection; Fried Tacos; Bartenders

I just finished having brunch at Malo and the Machaca is to die for. That combined with a fresh watermelon margarita puts this place over the top. I sat by myself on the patio, enjoyed some amazing music, and the server was wonderful.
Pros: Machaca; Watermelon Margarita, Service
Cons: hot today in Los Angeles

As soon as I walk in I start counting how long this hostess is just going to stare and eat her food before she decides to tell us that the kitchen apprently closes at 11 (not 2am). So make sure you don't go during those hours unless you love white trash anorexic girls that have something against brushing their hair. I'm sure the food would have been great, but bad snobby service makes it that much worse.
