I went to Neumo's for the Balkan Beat Box show but I couldnt get in. Even though I am well over 21 years old, and I have a valid, government issued ID (a green card/permanent resident card) and supporting documents to show, they wouldnt let me in. They said they only accept ID's or passports. Green Card's are issued by The Department of Homeland Security and they are impossible to fake, and they are the most powerful ID's other than a passport, It even has your finger print on it, but the smart-ass door guys told me that I need to get an ID. I will never ever go to that place ever again, even if they host a really good band. I will also look into complain about this situation because I dont believe they have a right to turn an immigrant away who has a valid ID.

This is to one of the owner’s of Neumos. I think his name is Mike. Mike needs to get over his Napoleon complex. I have seen how he forces the security guards to manhandle women. I’ve seen him push woman out of the way because he needs to get through a crowd. Your club is the worst club in the city and it looks like most of the reviewers here agree. Also if I count all the reviews and if my math is correct, shouldn’t this place be getting only 2 stars instead of 4 ½? I hope the city shuts this place down. There are serious fire codes being violated the times I have been there. It's too bad that some good bands end up playing here. I'm sure there are better places in Seattle that they could play at, maybe the Vera Project or Chop Suey. I won’t ever be going here again.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Management, Lines

Finally a free show that everybody could see.... oh wait it's not. My favorite band is Dub Trio and I can't got see them tonight because I'm only 15. I've been to lots of shows at Neumo's and they're generally pretty good venue but this is absurd. If somebody's going to smoke, shoot up, or screw a kid standing next to them isn't going to stop them. This is moldy milky horseshit. I know that some of you fuckers think that if they stop putting a minimum age on shows, it'll turn into a kiddie fest but take a look at the all ages shows, 90% of them are 18+.

Just like the post two down I was at Tim and Erics awesome show great job and was not let back on the floor after going upstairs to get a drink because as the staff stated, "the floor is at capacity". Good luck seeing the stage from the upper level. I am 6ft tall and couldn't see anything. As more people came upstairs, they wouldn't let anyone back down to the floor to take their place. Felt trapped in the bar like we were animals. The scary thing is people just kept buying drinks because the show at that point was a lost cause. This is Illegal! I threatened to call the police and they eventually gave me my money back but I really had to work for it.

Pros: good bands

Cons: illegal crowd control

I just got home from Neumos. I went to see the Kills. I had bought my ticket two months ago. I turned in my ticket at the front door, but then at the door to the room where the band was playing there was a line of people waiting to get in. They and I could not see the band because Neumos and TicketWest sold more tickets than the capacity of the room. The employees there thought it sucked, but they only work there and don't make the rules. So, don't go to Neumos unless you ready to get there early enough to get in, and don't drink too much, because if you have to go to the bathroom, you may not get in to see the band--even though you paid for a tciket to see the band. I'm surprised operating a business like this is legal. I think it's a rip-off.

Pros: Nice crowd

Cons: Cannot see band because they oversell

You'd think a hundred bucks would buy you a decent night out, right? If your plans are at NEUMO'S, think again! My experience "seeing" the late show of TIM AND ERIC AWESOME TOUR at NEUMO'S was downright terrible. The floor level of the club filled to capacity, trapping the people upstairs with employees blocking staircases who refused to let people downstairs. If you've ever been upstairs, you know how impossible it is to see anything unless you're at the rail or over 6 feet tall. As neither of those applied to me that night, my boyfriend and I couldn't see a thing, and were prevented from finding a better spot by NEUMO'S staff that, while "just doing their jobs", were hindering not only my experience but the experience of countless other patrons. It was such a lock-down state that an employee wouldn't even let me downstairs to grab my purse from a friend who was at the foot of the stairs! My friends and I, unable to see the show (and separated by the two level lockdown procedure), left the show after spending tons of cash on drinks and a show we couldn't see. Does that seem fair? Shouldn't it be a venue's responsibility to guarantee - within the realm of its abilities - the enjoyable experience of its patrons? I understand that safety is an issue, but it was NEUMO'S responsibility to maintain both safety and harmony with its guests - instead, it opted to comply with police at the expense of its patrons. NEUMO'S: SHAME ON YOU for overcrowding your lower level and punishing your patrons with rudeness!

Cons: Location, structure of the building, STAFF!

Ok, here goes for my first review... I went to see Tim and Eric Live yesterday, May 2nd, 2008. The show itself was excellent...Or what I could see of it. I have never been to a venue where there was such an inability to see the stage. I was surprised that at a comedy show, there were no chairs pulled out. Afterall, it WAS to be a visual event. So basically, instead of going to a comedy show where you get to sit down, relax, and watch a couple of guys be funny, I ended up standing for 4 hours, not being able to see 99% of the show. I felt like my money had been horribly wasted, and I was just hot and uncomfortable the entire time. Now, I think you're getting the idea that I'm angry that I paid money to see a show, that I in fact, could not see. I have another general complaint. I walked into the bathroom, for obvious reasons, and it was SO DARK in there I could barely see. Kind of awkward. For me at least. Basically, I wouldn't recommend Neumos for any event. The fact that there are places for you to stand in the bar and lean over the rails to see the stage was really the only good thing about being there...That and the physical location of the place. It's in a good spot, lots of better clubs and bars to visit surrounding the place. I won't go again, and I won't be one to advise anyone else to go. Unless you enjoy wasting your money and being hot.

Pros: Good Location

Cons: Dirty, Bathrooms not well lit, Stage not easy to see, Hot

Went to see the Raconteurs last night - brilliant! But Neumos did it’s best to spoil the party… The process of getting inside the venue was a nightmare. There was a queue around the block by 7pm while doors didn’t open till 8pm. And I know the last people in the queue didn’t get inside before 10.15pm. The situation was avoidable in two ways – earlier doors open and a more streamlined method of checking people in. (1) It was a sold out gig. ALL tickets Will Call. Couldn’t Ticketwest/Neumos print/post tickets with 6wks notice? That would’ve dispensed with Bouncer #1 who had to check your ID and tick your name off a very long list. (2) It was supposed to be an over 21 gig and the vast majority of people inside appeared over 21. Sticking to this would’ve dispensed with Bouncer #2 who stamped your wrist to say you were over 21. It would also have made for easier maneuvering inside a very full venue that was pointlessly divided into over/under 21 access. (3) Finally there’s Bouncer #3 who fits you with a wristband – apparently necessary since there were no tickets. As it was clearly posted there was "absolutely no re-entry" why bother with wristbands??? (4) And then once you get inside? The balconies were way over stated capacity and I suspect the main hall area was too. And the bathrooms were an absolute disgrace. I think a venue that hosts sell out crowds regularly should be better set up to get people in promptly. Plus the door staff were taking their own sweet time... no sense of them actively trying to speed things up. Overall despite the band being fabulous the venue let itself down. I’ve been to a lot of gigs in Seattle and in the UK over the years and I have no issue with small grubby venues that do their best with a smile, but Neumos was just inept. I don’t think I’ll be going back.

Pros: It attracts good bands.

Cons: Slow to get crowds in the door, lackluster bouncers.

I went to the Daniel Johnston show last night in high spirits. After the show let out I realized I had forgot something inside, so I knocked on the door and told security I needed to go in quickly and would be right out. It was apparent he was frustrated with my question, but after telling him politely I forgot an item and really needed to get back in for a minute, he agreed to let me in. Keep in mind there were still people inside. My boyfriend was standing by my side this whole time, so I told the security- not thinking this would be an issue- that I was going to bring him in with me. I wish I was exaggerating when I say that at this point, a female security guard lunged at me, shoving me hard with both hands, swearing at me for "scheming sh*t," and slammed the door in my face. My back hurts now, I'm a small framed girl with a soft voice and the aggression and violence that women displayed was completely unprofessional and out of line. I didn't try and push my way in, I didn't have an ounce of hostility in my voice, I simply said I was going to bring my boyfriend with me. Such an insane request.. Could they not have simply told me only one person in? Yes, but they resorted to an unjustified aggressive attack. It's really too bad that so many great artists perform here, because after last night I'm not sure I ever want to go back.

Pros: good bands

Cons: security is out of control

Just like the other complaints on here about their security, I not only have but have also heard similar stories. The most frustrating part is the wasted excitement and money spent attending the place. I got kicked out because my girlfriend got kicked out. They said she was too drunk and she only had 1 beer the whole night before they gave her the boot. Somehow I was able to convince them to let us back in when I told them I wanted my money back. After that, we had a retarded security gaurd follow us around all night which just made everything uncomfortable. It's as if they're trying to get a bad reputation. If you have a favorite artist(s) playing there or may know they're potentially playing there, I would recommend going to the musicians label and letting their agent know ahead of time.

Pros: Absolutely ZERO

Cons: security, size, and overall reputation
